Happy with mine, did 16 miles the other weekend in the rain, fantastic ride! Switch it up to Elite V4, omg! Can’t wait to use the Elite V4 for race day! ❤
Just picked up a pair at Brooklyn Running Co in Williamsburg, and did my first 5k along the water front. I must say, I love them! Been running in V2 for a while, and there are 3 main differences out of the box. 1) you can feel the plate. 2) the toe box seems narrower (to the point that I tried a 1/2 size up and almost convinced myself that was the way to go). 3) the foam is firmer. Those 3 points are all *very* noticeable, and also pretty consistent with most online reviews so far... which had certainly put me off even trying them, let alone buying them. But 5km in... no more than a little break-in jog on a sunny day... and 1) the plate feeling melts away, just leaving the lovely stable "pop" off every step (i.e. same as you get in the V2, which is a fantastically fun feeling if you haven't tried it!), 2) the toe box stretches nicely, molding around your foot to provide a perfectly structured upper (which IMO is better than the "baggy sock" feeling of V2), 3) the foam *is* firmer... and I think that's actually going to prove to be a good thing, as hopefully it will be more durable than the V2 (I remember getting about 100km into the V2 and thinking "wow, the foam has gone from bouncy to squidgy," which was fine, but didn't give me a consistent ride throughout the lifetime of the shoe. I think the V3 will give me that). Overall, I'm super happy so far. And I'm looking forward to pounding some miles with them in the coming months. See you out there!
Original "Super trainer" is the Tempo Next%. Love that shoe, have 3 pairs. One at over 1100km (treadmill only now), one at 750km, and one at 150km and all still in use. Not really sure why they have the PEBA blend % so low. Numerous shoes are using 100% PEBA both with and without plates and it does fine. Only thing I can think of is a cost cutting feature....charge the same as everything else, but have reduced costs?
I had the big toe rub too! Ahh! I hope the material stretches and/or I can figure out a lockdown. Going a half size up would make the shoe way too long for me. Otherwise I loved the ride.
I love this shoe- first run this morning was fabulous. I love the cushion and the rocker. Last pair was version 2- and I did experience a big toe blister on those too with long runs. ordered 1/2 size larger in this newer version and that seems to have fixed it.
I came here thinking that maybe this would be a viable alternative to the Boston 12 if the 12 ends up being for me what I have seen others complain about; rigid upper, heel slippage, lace biting, etc. But yeah, the word blister concerns me enough to take it off the table.
I've ran around a 100k total in SC Trainer v3 and sure, they're really nice and comfy daily trainers. But at this price tag I'd choose Superblast 2 anytime. For me SB2 feel better on the long runs and on the tempo sessions. With SC Trainers v3 something was missing, but I can't put a name to it 😂
I already have SCE v4, more v5, and the Rebel v4 Which I do not like. but I also have the On Cloud Eclipse, and I am finding out of all my shoes I wear the SCE v4 the more v5s and the SCT V1 more than any of my other shoes and I have a lot. I wear my 1080 v13s, and my On Cloud Eclipse as a comfort soft recovery shoe!!
@@coffeemuncher01 18 miles right out the box and they disappeared under my feet. Favorite shoe in my rotation and may even race Chicago Marathon in them this year.
Aside from the af2, they don't bother putting in the time and effort on a shoe that is bad enough to get a red light. Also, aside from the budget shoes that aren't going to get reviewed, shoes are so good these days that it's probably difficult to find a bad one.
Just got back from doing 15km moderate run in these, I have a Greek shape foot and my second toe (longest) is in a lot of pain, the shoes are definitely not too short as I normally allow a bit of extra room and this is also evidenced by the insole. The problem is there is barely any cushioning between the carbon plate and your foot, so the carbon plate is quite prevalent right through but especially at the toes. I’m not sure whether I could add extra padding of if I should just sell them now.
I do miss the high stack in the v2. I'm absolutely in love with the v1 ! Plus that the price has gotten progressively out of control. The v2 was a disgusting 230 euro, and the v3 is at 250, the same as a Metaspeed Paris, or an Adios Pro 3 at full price (and that shoe can be found at nice discounts).
Yes, really don' t understand New Balance EU pricing. It' s 180$ in the US which would scale to around 160€. Do they really expect people to pay 250€? Also the Balos is at 220€ when it is only 200$ in the US. Th
Having worn all three, these did not fit true to size for me at all. They ran about a half size too short. I had to send them back because my toes were absolutely crammed in this shoe. Same issue with the Rebel v4. I’ve never had a fit issue with NB until those two updates.
In UK sizing I always have to go half a size up on New Balance. I can get away with it a little but like you my toes get crammed. I have the same issue with Hoka, On Running.
Did 13 miles in mine when I first got them, and 17 miles on Sunday. I had a mens size 12 in the v2 and got a 12 2E (wide) in the v3. So far I'm very happy with it. I think it will soften up a little as we go too. It's more propulsive than v2.
I have rebel v4 i run 5k twice a week sometimes 12k i didn't experience any blisters. And i will expect the sc trainer v3 is same why? Are you just unlucky? Nope, cause it's all about the Fitting of the shoes and socks use.
I've the ASICS Novablast 4 which are superb. I have a pair of NB 9060 for my everyday casual shoe and I rate NB for comfort. But for running how would you compare this NB runner with the ASICS Novablast 4?
I am conflicted about this shoe. It looks like my 1080 v13, Rebel V4 and SC Trainer V2 had a Ménage a trois at a marathon major (pick one), thus the SC Trainer V3 was born. I really like my SC Trainer V2, but for the upper bunching and the sole wear. In my 42+ years running, never have I had sole wear like this - a divot underneath my left ring finger toe. My 2 pairs of Rebel V4's aren't this bad. I might have to retire the SC Trainer V2 in 40 miles (300) at this rate. Irrespective of price, the Pacer V2 intrigues me more than the SC Trainer V3. Hopefully a snugger upper fit and built for smaller runners like myself.
I hear you on the sole durability issues. I ran 700K in my 1080 V12s, then only got 400K in the Trainer V2 for arguably more outside heel wear. Disappointing given the higher pricing. Makes me hesitant to go with the V3.
Based on how much new balance have increased their prices I wonder how many shoes they sell. I used do be New Balance user but I have moved away to other brands that have the same attributes but at much lover price
After having done three 50k+ runs I'm these, I agree with all the points here: • Takes ~10 miles to really break in • Firmer than expected given the foam stack • Absolutely terrible toe blisters the likes if which I've never experienced before • I'll also add the arch support is poor compared to the other Fuel Cell shoes. Given these actually cause me pain to run in, the SC Trainer v3s are a sad and disappointing pass for me. I love the Rebel v4s, but the SC Trainer v3s are not fit for the same foot at all.
261 gram, 250€,...hard pass for me. Not sure what's so "super" about a super trainer that gives you blisters and weighs 22 gram more than the Asics Superblast.
Sounds like they completwly ruined the shoe. Which is what most brands have done to their shoes in recent years. I loved the V2. But the v3 kinda looks like it sucks
Well, I already thought they ruined the shoe with v2. I mean, it's not even a bad shoe, just nothing special like the v1 was. So there will be people who adore v3 too.
Happy with mine, did 16 miles the other weekend in the rain, fantastic ride! Switch it up to Elite V4, omg! Can’t wait to use the Elite V4 for race day! ❤
Will these work for daily runs? Slow runs/temp/fast? I want a one shoe do it all sorta. I'll ahve a max cushion shoe for super recovery too
The bloopers laughter is contagious. Thank you.

"Don't get too excited about the PEBA" - Why I love this channel.
Thomas needs to work on his poker face. I don’t believe for a second that he likes this shoe.
he's just stoned bro, give him a break lol
I just brought a new Fuelcell SC Trainer v1 for 600 RMB=USD $84. Really happy with the shoe, great to replace my Prime X after 900Km.
Nice! Got a pit for $80 and it’s in the mail. Can’t wait to try them!
@@vtru2743 At this rate, I would be able to try V3 when V5 is out.
Congrats! The v1 is such a great shoe. I'd love to get my hands on a pair of original Prime X at some point, but I'm really enjoying the PX2S as well.
Jealous
get a superblast to complete the trio

In Australia it’s only 30 dollars less then the sc elite and the elite is a much nicer ride

Just got these n the superblast love the SBs running these tomorrow excited
Once I heard “pretty nasty blister”, that did it for me. I’m out. There are wayyyy too many other options out there that won’t do that kind of damage.
I came here thinking that maybe this would be a viable alternative to the Boston 12 if the 12 ends up being for me what I have seen others complain about; rigid upper, heel slippage, lace biting, etc. But yeah, the word blister concerns me enough to take it off the table.
Loved my SC Trainer v1, V2 was ok, so not sure about trying the V3

Congrats on your 100k subs! Love your reviews!
Thanks for the review. Glad to see Baltimore being represented. Hit your "finish" line sometimes on my long runs.
I am enjoying the v3! but for me nothing compares to the v1. I think that was my favorite shoe of all time and I miss it
I don't think they are contractually allowed to give a new balance shoe a red light 😂. I'm reading between the lines on this one😉
congrats on 100,000 subscribers 🎉🎉🎉
Ding Ding 100k! Congrats @BelieveInTheRun gang
I tried this one and it is firm, nothing like v1 or 2 , prefer the skyward from hoka
Worst blisters of any shoe I’ve ever run in! Had to return them and picked up Endorphin Speed 4.
How are the speeds treating you?

STICK AROUND FOR THE OUTTAKES at the end 😂
For the people getting blisters with this shoe, try getting the wide version. It has a bit more room giving it a better fit for me.
What will it take to get a red light, even a blister is not doing it 😂
😂
If Thomas were my HS science teacher I might’ve gotten into med school lol
lol exactly! I wish they calibrated the rating based on other shoes in the market - not every shoe can be a green.

Is it possible to retain the feel of V1 and only change the appearance design to show that it is no longer a sc trainer series?
Just a shame that here in Europe it's crazy expensive, 250 €. That's more then the Vaporfly.
New Balance just messed up their new line-up. I’ve gotten blisters in the Rebel V4’s, and sure thing: blisters again when I tried these.
