I couldn't sleep since I have my appointment tomorrow. I turned 40 this year and worried since my great grandmother, great aunt, and grandmother had breast cancer. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! Now I can go to sleep soundly. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!
I'm sure you did just fine! 🙂 It's seriously no big deal...at all. If you can suffer through a pap test, you can do this😉
Same here!
I turned 40 in 2021 as well! I go for my 1st mammogram in a few days
GOD BLESS YOU
My cousin got breast cancer at 30 and I just recently turned 30 so I’m going to have to get a mammogram to make sure.
I have had breast cancer before..a few times. I was in my late teens, the first time. Then the next few tu times I was in my early 20's. I have a bump in my breast. I'm "not old enough" to need annual mammogram. But I have had breast cancer before and I was young. So I demanded a mammogram, as early detection has saved my life before. Age isn't what should get you to get a mammogram. Early detection is key and it can save your life. I'm more worried I have a lump then I could ever be about having a mammogram. I'll honestly feel better psychologically once I get the results. Good or bad news, I have lived through this before. I know how to handle it. Not knowing is the hardest part.
Your so strong, my mom after this got a biopsy done and today they told her it is in fact cancer, she didn’t feel a lump before it was through a mammogram that they found it, right now as we speak I’m looking up as much as I can to know what we can do to save her as we are all scared 💔 please if you can, can you tell me what to expect next, I know everyone is different all she knows is she needs to wait for a specialist to call her next which is very scary wondering how long will that take. They did leave something in place to find it faster if needed which now we know will be needed. Thanks for your time and I pray you are still in good spirits and ok, you are a champion 🙌🏻
@@RL55933 I don't know the type of cancer she has or the location in her breast, which I have learned location is a major issue when it comes to breast cancer. I don't want to advise you on what comes next, because she night have a completely different, well she does she couldn't feel the spot. I have always had spot I can feel and that go from the size of a pea to the size of a softball...that's a different situation right there.
Be a loving supporter for your mom. That's really important. I know it is really difficult, my mom couldn't psychologically handle her baby girl having breast cancer. I knew she needed to come to terms with it. But I needed her to come to terms with that away from me, because I was the one facing treatments and operations. I did have to set her down and talk to her about that, the first time I had breast cancer. I knew breast cancer survivors. I wanted to focus on the fact that I could survive breast cancer. That was really hard to do with my mom crying over me. Like I was already dead. I needed her to believe I was going to beat this. That support system is really important. Once she understood I needed to be brave, I needed everyone around me to be brave, I needed everyone to believe not hope/not warn/not know but BELIEVE that I was going to be fine. I was ready and happy to fight it. But I needed everyone around me to believe I could fight it and win. I'd tell you to support her in the way she needs you too. Which might lead to an award conversation. But having a support system while you have cancer is unbelievably important. Tell your mom I love her. Tell her I know she is going to get though this. Send her my love. 💗-Deja
@@RL55933 i hope with all my heart you and your mom are doing well 💜💜💜

I have my first mammography appointment tomorrow. I found lumps a few weeks ago. I'm worried but I pray that all is well. Everyone please Pray for me. 🙏🏽

I'm late but prayed for you anyway. I hope you are ok.
How did it go?
I hope it went well 💕. God bless you
I had my first mammogram today and I was terrified after asking others about their experiences, watching UA-cam videos and worrying about pain due to having small breasts! In preparation for the procedure, I didn’t wear any deodorant or lotion and I took 2 Tylenol pills about an hour before. The radiologist was AMAZING! I felt NO pain (only minor discomfort during the side x rays). It was easy and quick. I’m so happy that I got it out of the way because I’ve been losing sleep since I made the appointment. Praying for positive results. Thanks so much for this video!
why tylenol?
How old are you?
I have doubts that I am having the issue but afraid to Go to the doctor.but after watching this video and reading comments I think I should go for it.
I had one I have bigger boobs this time I'm taking something for pain. Like an edible
Oh good, I hope I have the same experience! I've been scared about the pain too
I'm a 36yo male with a family history of breast cancer and found a mass on my breast last week. I have my ultrasound and mammogram scheduled for this coming Monday. I'm glad videos like this exist to calm the nerves a bit
I hope everything went well and you got good news! I have an appointment soon for the same reason at 22...

I’ll be 38 and going for my 1st examin a couple weeks. My mother passed away when I was in high school due to Breast cancer so we’re just making sure. This video definitely eased my nerves.
That’s why I’m here too. My Mom was in her early 40s when she was diagnosed. I just turned 36 and am getting my first done today. I will also be doing the brca testing.
My mom passed away from breast cancer at her 57. Now I’m 26 and and I’m feel threatened from it. I think at my 30 I’ll demand for a mammography too...

I’m having my first one today and I’m 42. I’m nervous because the past month or two I’ve noticed pain in my right breast during my period. I’ve never had that before.
Were you okay @@SirWinstonFurchill
I've already had my first ever mammogram and (although a little painful) I had a really nice, patient Lady do mine..also had an intense ultrasound on both breasts to, just to be sure..A biopsy wasn't needed, I need to have another check in 6 months..My drive home was very emotional, I sobbed like a baby nearly all the way home..tears of relief. I had already decided I was going to have treatment if I needed to, I don't need to, big relief.
Even if you do ever need a core biopsy please know it isn't a horrible experience. I was surprised how easy the whole thing was.
What was Painful part please, this is the main reason i've been avoiding it.

I'm 2 years over due for a mammogram. This will be my first one in two days. I wasn't sure what to expect, watching this video relaxed my anxiety a whole lot.
Howd it go?
I go at 2:45 today, and this really makes me feel more comfortable with what I am going through. Thanks for this wonderful video. : )
When the doctor said the ages mammograms should start, my reaction was like "SHE'S 40!!??!"
40 Gets a bad rep for some reason.
I'm 27, media scared me growing up. Women are beautiful! Instead of stressing the age with each decade I wish that we could just share and pass down health care routines that keep us youthful as we age. "Getting old" is a term that I have heard so much that it's no surprised that
I was shocked to see how beautiful ladies in there 40s- 70s are.
I think the secret really is in weight control and diet.. and forgive me if this comes out ignorantly because I am learning, but I don't want to be worried about aging anymore and I'm happy to see how beautiful and athletic people actually look as they age vs how the media has shaped the perspective about aging.
I didn’t know about the deodorant detail, thank you for adding that in
Thank you for this video! My first mammogram is in an hour and I was in major panic mode before watching this. All that panic released into tears of relief after watching this. Thank you again and wish me luck!
Going in for my first exam today at 35-years old, because I'm high risk and there might be a lump. Thank you for showing me what I can expect!
First one tomorrow and I’m really scared!!! I should just cancel but I won’t. I’m 34 and my grandmother on my moms side had breast cancer so I know it’s important. Wish me luck!
Casandra Manson I go tomorrow, how did everything go.
Tasha Wright yeah how did everything go??
Everything went well they did find a small benign tumor so I do have to go back every six months. However I went for my well woman check up and they found a mass on my left ovary. I’m totally stressed out! I pray it’s not cancerous please keep me in your prayers.

Thank you for this video; I'm going in for my first mammogram today and I'm a bit nervous, but deep down inside I know I'm going to do great and be well.
This is a wonderful video. I have had an annual mammogram for 15yrs. There is absolutely nothing to fear with them. You may feel a little discomfort but it is not the big boogie monster that others would have you believe. Once the technician has your breast where they can get the best image it is over in seconds. It is a hundred times more painful to get your eyebrows plucked or have your hair washed at the salon.
Thank you so much for this comment 💗
This is good to know! I've got large breasts and my mother hates getting mammograms (she has larger breasts too). She claims childbirth was less painful 🤣 Perhaps a bit dramatic on her part!
Mine was painful, and I don't pluck my eyebrows. We're all different.
Lol, tell that to my breasts which are hurting from just lifting my hands up sometimes or the mildest touch! And I pluck eyebrows, used to wax and epilate everywhere and now doing IPL without issues.
had my first mammogram aged 52 two years ago should have been called at 50 but lots happened that year and I changed my doctors somehow I got over looked but my new doc was on the ball and quickly got me my first appointment, I kinda knew from others what would happen but I was nervous! ...kept relaxing and putting my arm down by my side!..both nurses were lovely put me at ease and told me it would hurt! it didn't actually hurt.. just a very tight squeeze! felt relieved when I got the all clear it felt like a weight lifted I could now check monthly knowing I was fine and I would notice any changes..🤞
Thank you for making this video. I turned 40 in May and I’m about to make my first appointment. 💗
I had my mammogram today, and it hurt, I'm happy I got it done. My grandmother had breast cancer and went into remission. Now I'm waiting for the results. I'm 41 years old, and I was my first mammogram.
I think the technician who performs the procedure makes all the difference. Some are more aggressive than others. Normally it's uncomfortable for me but at my most recent exam the woman technician knew I was in extreme pain and still continued on like it was no big deal. She showed no compassion at all. That afternoon I called the person in charge of the Breast Health Center and she said it should never hurt like that. She was very apologetic. Just know ladies, if it is extremely painful they are doing something wrong.
Thank you for that info! I go Monday and i'm terrified:(
ClaireNicole33 I understand. It will be uncomfortable but it shouldn’t be painful. Just don’t be afraid to speak up. And remember, it could save your life 💗 I would love to hear how it went.

I did mine today and I was traumatized. I was under the impression that it was going to be uncomfortable. The tech did tell me its painful. I was in so much pain each time it k knocked the breath out of me. I cried through the entire process. She even had to redo one imagine ,because she said it wasn't compressed enough. I go for a mammogram next month, I’m only 35. I found a lump under my right breast near the very bottom and at the bra line, my gynecologist exam it and she scheduled for my to have a mammogram and a bilateral Ultrasound. I’m sooo nervous and beyond scared. It just popped up a few days before my period cycle, at the time it was painful and the pain subsided before my period ended. But the lump is still there, it’s movable and feels like it’s under my skin. The gynecologist said she didn’t want to mess with it, so that’s when she ordered for me to have a mammogram and US done. It’s a scary feeling, I wish this lump just disappear. She also said that it could be a cyst, so I pray that’s all it is.

Just a personal opinion. I did train as technician and the idea is to have the two plates squeeze a breast the most you can endure the pain, so as to get a more clear image especially to detect microcalcifications. Just an idea. I think you don't have to endure torture just to get the perfect image. I would rather just do the test more frequently, to get any calcification in time before it grows. When you feel the breast starts hurting I would tell the technician to stop. They will want to squeeze more - typically until you can no longer tolerate the pain. Of course, the pain vs thickness of the squeezed breast will vary from person to person - if your breast is more dense, it may be more painful. If breast is too small it also is less easy to squeeze. A woman with soft tissue will squeeze much more than a woman with dense tissue. Just remember that at some point the technician will have to stop squeezing any way. I'd rather have less pain but do the test more often. If test is a torture every time, you may be afraid to return that often. Finally, breast cancer is not only on women over 40. It does happen even well before, even at 25 is not that rare. Why not taking an habit of testing at earlier age? You will be less worried, and have perhaps a bit more courage and even get used to the test easier. I think it makes a good approach. After all I think it's fun when someone is taking care of you - just like a hairdresser. And have your hubby test PSA for prostate - it's a simple blood test.
So good you did this thnk you, mine is due tomorrow at age 51. ❤
My OB/GYN started doing annual mammograms on me in my 20s, because I am BRCA-2 positive which means that I am up to an 87% chance in getting breast cancer at some point in my lifetime. My mother had her ovaries and breasts preemptively removed to not let that happen. Ladies, do some digging in your family history of cancer and go get tested for the BRCA genetic mutations! This could affect both you and your children.
I am BRCA-1 positive and going in for my first mammogram in under an hour. I'm nervous but watching this video helped calm my nerves. My sister had her breasts removed, and my mom had both her ovaries and breasts removed a few years ago. I'm only 28, which is young but not for BRCA. I feel like I am on a ticking time-line to have children and get everything removed. Most my family has tested positive, so if there's any chance please go get genetic testing because like the video said preventative measures are very important!
Mutations are due to damaged telomeres which is preventable. I am sorry for your family. You should look into helping protect your telomeres.
Yes. 1 in 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, but not 1 in 8 women would die. Mammograms are causing overdiagnisis. You need to look into studies that are done by people who do not have specisl interest in themammogram industry. Read "Conspiracy of Hope." Some cancers are so slow growing that the woman would die of something else, yet she gets treated for cancer. Cancer treatment can kill. My mom died from radiation treatment. We like to think health care puts us first, but sometimes profit comes first. We are not getting all the facts about mammograms on purpose.
Thank you so much!

Thank you for this video cause I have appt Friday n I’m so scared. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing ☺️

I had a mammogram and it was extremely painful. I'll never do it again but I hope others will do it and pray fully it goes well for them. I just intake turkey tail mushroom now.
Why is it painful?? What does it feel like??
Just had one today. The nurse was excellent and made it comfortable. The only part where it felt like too much pressure and uncomfortable was when they do the side view of the breast for photos.
I just turned 37 and now I got to go take one
