    Seems like 8bitbdo is still our best bet for wireless on the Switch.

    For me these are worth it! I know I’m several years late to the party here, but all of the NSO controllers are perfect in my opinion because I never grew up with these controllers. But because I’m really into retro games - and especially old Nintendo games - having some authentic controllers for NSO, fan remakes, or (totally legal) emulation means I can modernize and more comfortably play games with the controller they were made for.

    Question. Is it possible to turn on the Switch with these controllers? I noticed that when I try to press buttons on this, the light will move left to right, but not connect. I have to use a different controller/joycon to turn on the Switch, then I have to Change Grip/Order to connect the NES controllers. - Juls

    Hey @Madliitlepixel, can you do a test on any Nintendo Switch games that uses the 2 button layout (and maybe with the L and R button set up) such as Celestia, Shovel Knight, Mega Man Legacy Collection, Elena's Temple, and much more. I know GameXplain and Allabdamsmash026 did tested the other Switch games that other Switch games that aren't used for NES Controllers, but they didn't show any right supporting games that used the NES Controller.

    I would assume they are heavier then the wired controllers due to the metal bar on each plus the extra stuff inside for wireless PLUS the battery as well. Is it really noticeable?

    • @Madlittlepixel
      @Madlittlepixel  5 років тому +1

      To me its very noticeable, but not a big deal. But when you play original NES almost daily with original controllers its definitely noticeable. Doesn't make the controllers harder to use or anything, just slightly heavier... kind of a useless point I guess but I felt pointing it out... but yeah with the internals and the slide bar stuff definitely gonna add to the weight.

  • @Darknight0681

    I don’t know about this, because 8bitDo also introduces a smidge of input latency as well. Main place I found this out was trying to play Musynx. Had to change the timing whereas with the pro controller and joycons I do not.

  • @truthxbl
    @truthxbl 5 років тому

    I've had this same issue in regard to responsiveness. It seems like sometimes left and right on dpad don't always register perfectly. The best example is doing wall jumps in Ninja Gaiden.. I'm dropping inputs using uniform pressure on my button presses switching from left to right to left. It's not always apparent, but when it happens, it's very clearly the hardware, not my muscle memory.

    I gotta ask, since I couldn't find anything online. Do these controllers work with the 8bitdo receiver for the NES Classic?

  • @bland9876
    @bland9876 5 років тому

    I can see it now "as madlittlepixle shows in his video the nes controllers for Nintendo switch online are bad and consumers outrage they have so much imput lag between the button press and the action happening on screen it makes games unplayable" - news media

  • @mj23kb08
    @mj23kb08 5 років тому +1

    I may be wrong, but I bet the Precision issue you're feeling has to do with the d-pad. I'm extremely picky with d pads, especially when it comes to Ninja Gaiden. Ninja Gaiden was the very first game I played when I got these new controllers for Christmas because I specifically wanted to test this out.
    Basically what's happening is that the d-pad is picking up stray diagonal presses. For instance, if you are running either forward or backwards with Ryu Hayabusa in Ninja Gaiden, and then all of a sudden you need to duck and Slash, you can't just casually roll your thumb down like you could with an original NES controller. You have to be extremely deliberate about how you press the down Direction on the d-pad. This is a typical problem with third-party controller replicas, but I expected much better from the first party company.

    • @ecmyersvids
      @ecmyersvids 5 років тому

      Same. The NES Classic controllers had the same issue. I notice it most with it triggering up accidentally. I had been hoping 8Bitdo would update the Retro Receiver controllers to work with these, but not I think I may just be relegating these to collectibles, and I may just get one of the 8Bitdo controllers or their DIY kit after all. :(

  • @BrianDittfeld
    @BrianDittfeld 5 років тому

    I'm running into the same issue you are experiencing with these controllers. They do not feel as responsive as they should on a number of games. Especially when playing Ninja Gaiden.

    I've only played a couple of games and need to try them out further but I'm not noticing input lag with mine. That being said, if there is input lag I'm sure Nintendo will push updates to them since they seem to push a bunch of controller updates for the joy cons and pro controllers.

    Hey MadLittlePixel! I have issues with connection. I tested it by playing SMB 1 with the mushroom equipped and I’d press and hold down and move the entire controller around and usually when I’d point it down you’d see Mario stand up and crouch back down. I was also sitting right in front of the dock. Could you test it out as no one on Reddit is responding back??

    • @ecmyersvids
      @ecmyersvids 5 років тому

      As with the NES Classic controllers, I don't think the D-pad is quite as precise as the OG NES controllers. The D-pad is too shallow, and it's too easy to hit multiple directions and trigger accidental diagonals. While the outside looks just like an OG controller, the buttons and membranes inside are basically as good as some of the better third-party NES controllers I've seen over the years, and unfortunately they aren't interchangeable with OG parts.

    +Madlittlepixel - I actually really like these, heard a few people were a bit 'iffy' on them but yeah, I really liked them. I feel if it was one or the other and not both, 8BitDo solution is the way to go, price, quality, function, 8Bit nail it however if like me your a 30+ yeah die hard Nitty fan, these are NES JoyCon, made in-house, good or bad your buying them whatever! Personally I didn't feel them to be to laggy, in fact not laggy at all, but a fair few people have said this so maybe they are and Im not so in-tune to feel it. Do love the GBros adaptor though very nice, that aside as a HHUUGGEE SNK/NeoGeoAES+CDZ fan, player, collector, Ive the ArcadeProV-Hayabusa JoyStick for my Switch but would LOVE a way to hook up either my Mk1 AES Stick, my Mk2 'BeanStick' or my CDZ pad (the original with the correct colour, layout and letter position *COUGH COUGH - NeoMiniPads!) great video MLP!

      Do you touch fake nes games like shovel knight or mutant mudds cuz there's another use for nes controller

    • @bazzaro1982
      @bazzaro1982 5 років тому

      @@bland9876 I could see how these controllers could be useful for folks that buy those games. Admittedly I'm not sure what games only use two buttons and these would work for. Maybe it's less of an issue for me since I use a Pro controller, if I was using a Joy cons with the 4 button arrows instead of the D-Pad, that would be frustrating.
