- The Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection released yesterday and it joins the other recent Star Wars games with having a terrible launch. Despite these same games having very successful ones 20 years ago...The Classic Star Wars Battlefronts are so important to me. Easily my most played games as a child and they're some of the most important and valuable games to me ever...To see them be mishandled and disrespected in this way is frustrating, heartbreaking, and every emotion in between...

Never played the first but 2 was my childhood, you can do galactic conquest split screen on the original, did they take it out of the port??

I felt like I dodged a bullet by not buying it but seeing this confirmed that I watched those wrist rockets.
I own these games on PC, Xbox and still have my original Battlefront 2 Xbox Disc, but I bought this collection on Switch. I got it because I wanted portable battlefront 1 and 2. I buy the Aspyr ports on Switch because of that. The only ways I could reccomend these are if you want that, or if you really want to play the games on Playstation. If you have an xbox or PC just buy the games off that for now and cheaper.
As for the collection itself I have been playing single player. I don't care much about online these days. I just wanted battlefront on my switch to play docked or portable and it works for that. Not defending the problems though. The file size, price and state of online are all bad.

this is why I will never do digital gaming I'm fine with my ten year old xbox 360 and Wii, and my 20 ps2. they were the height of gaming and one day i'll play them with my kids.
I wasn't even remotely interested in these games but it's still sad to see how it ended up. The gaming industry really is one of the worst.

Well, I pre-ordered it, and I’m having a blast! I got rid of my PS2, so, I couldn’t play these beloved games on the PS2 anymore. Playing it on the PS5 through the single player campaign (the 501st one) was COMPLETELY nostalgic. I played the first original game, which I NEVER played before, had fun with it, but, Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) had me hit with a WAVE of nostalgia. I CANNOT WAIT to post the campaign on my channel soon!
I wanna add that there’s no controller look sensitivity. It has a mouse sensitivity but no controller. Cuz my character turns way too slow for me. I died cuz I couldn’t turn around fast enough.
This VR game called Contractors has a mod that turns it into Star Wars Battlefront 2, it doesn't have everything but they are still developing it I think
I'm glad I decided to wait it out.
Maybe I'll buy it for cheap later once they fix it. I don't really play on PC so hopefully it's fixed on consoles eventually.

The original star wars battlefront games were my peak childhood! And I became a star wars nerd because of those games!
One thing I've always had an issue with even in 2005 is why the fuck on thr cover art does the clone have a short blaster yet in the game he has the long blaster... Injust... Always bugged the shit outta me... On geonosis with the phase 1 it makes sense but in every map with the phase 2 it shoulda been thdshorter blaster.... But hey anything beats the ea and dice battleflops
You can't even play single player bug free either, between the audio breaking, changed audio, bad control inputs, and crashes the game is literally unplayable.
Another potentially (in this case proven) great game with a terrible launch that’ll slowly get fixed over the next couple of months/years but never getting the playerbase back
Its just a rerelease tho, it'll probably be completely forgotten in general

The multiplayer still works in the old BF games, there are a bunch of community servers.
Battlefront 2 is one of my favorite Star Wars games of all time. Galactic Conquest is so addicting, Rise of the Empire is a fun campaign, and Instant Action allowed limitless playing in different battles.
Played OG Battlefront 2 on my Steam Deck and the Servers are popping off rn.
ON Switch were no issues
the dumbest part to me is how they somehow managed to make this collection take up over 70 fucking gigabytes of storage while the original releases combined were only 14GB. where are those extra gigabytes from?
I never played the originals just been playing the single player on PS5. My experience has been great and I really enjoy it. Hopefully they fix for the OG fans.

I would recommend Battlefront 2 over the first because it added space combat, a turn based galactic conquest mode, and modes where you kill heroes or villains. There is also a hunt mode that allows you to kill Wampas, Ewoks as well as Jawas.
Aspyr were the ones doing the Kotor remake until Sony saw the progress and rapidly hit the abort button, I was dissapointed at the time but after seeing them screw up this I can only imagine what Sony saw lol
Yeah I played it for 118 minutes so thankfully I was just under the 2 hour refund policy though im pretty sure steam would of refunded it regardless because this is unplayable its honestly incredible how badly they screwed something so easy
I'm just glad to have Battlefront 2 on modern consoles. I don't really care about multiplayer, so it doesn't really matter to me. As long as I can play some Galactic Conquest without dusting off my PS2, I'm happy.

Unless I'm doing it wrong, I couldn't find a way to uninvert the flight controls on PC even when trying to change the controls.
My guess is they didn't have the source code or parts of it to properly release the remaster.
Unless we learn to truly boycott this companies (not just gaming industry) there will never be true change. They try to divide us, we are living in the movie Bugs Life. I’m optimistic we will all come together sooner rather than later.
no surprise star wars has been trash for 10 years ever since disney took over and killed the expanded universe. Haven't bothered in 10 years since i used to be a massive star wars head. I was so hyped for this battlefront 2 is one of my favourite games ever. So many memories playing these back in the day. This i thought was my way back in to star wars. I guess not this awful launch isn't a surprise nor is anything that comes out for star wars in the past 10 years. Go play original on steam i have been just might need to lower your monitor settings i did and it runs fine offline and online.

You're really underestimating the appeal of singleplayer on this game
thats not the point, the singleplayer is not worth it for PC players, if you dont own a PC then understandable. But for PC its better to just buy the old school ones and play singleplayer there but I also heard that the campaign broken on this new one
Even if the Singleplayer is great, it's nothing you can't get on the originals for much cheaper. In addition, on pc you can get plenty of mods. Multiplayer was the only new addition to this release. Plus from what I heard the story in the collection is missing cutscenes which is pretty lame if true

My guy, did you play the single player? My cutscenes don’t play, textures on campaign levels don’t render properly, the UI is blocky and has no artistic style, the hit detection is off, the AI is somehow even dumber than it was in 2005, and galactic conquest isn’t even optional for multiplayer, which it was in the original release. I played half the Rise of the Empire story in BF2 just to make sure I wasn’t full of shit before saying anything and it is BROKEN AF

Quick PSA: it took 15 seconds to load into a fully populated 30 player server on SWBF2.
Thank god I got OG BF2 on steam before this became a thing.

Freaking called it. I KNEW they were going to be released in this state. I just knew it. I even went as far as to warn potential buyers that this isn't going to be as good as they were thinking and that it's going to be another disastrous re-release. I am not surprised that this happened at all. Guess the OG Xbox versions of these games will always remain the best ways to play these games after all.
It's truly a shame that this is what gaming has become. I love these games and I'm glad they have more than their fair share of fans, but the idea that people would be dependent on Aspyr, the company that has a long history of dishing out shoddy ports like this, and STILL would go as far as to believe that this would be the definitive release of the classic Battlefront games despite ALL of the low-effort ports and remasters that have been made for the past 10 years, is just foolish on their part, to be honest. I hate to say that, but sadly, it's true.

I've played the online for numerous hours and even at launch hour I had ZERO lag issues, the online lobboes have already ran smoothly. These issues are greatly exaggerated and besides Aspyr are already updating the servers and have promised patches. I'm tired of these pointless videos echoing the same exaggerated complaints, this negative review bombing WILL be the cause for the failing online because it's going to make people avoid getting the game. I'm glad I pre ordered so I wouldn't be tricked by these ridiculous claims. Stick to AC man

EA really giving themselves a pat on the back full of lies saying "yeah, we were right in stopping BF2 support, the players HATE the first game's re-release so why would they want BF2 back?"
What annoys me are the people defending this garbage release in UA-cam and Tik-Tok comment sections. "I'm having a blast with the single-player.". Then play the OG? This release unnecessarily takes up 60GB, more than Elden Ring and roughly the same as Cyberpunk, and the online (the main selling point) doesn't work!

I'm not sure what's harder to believe. The fact this game costs $35, or the people that STILL preordered it after how many issues BF 2015 and 2017 had on release.

yeah, but the singleplayer isn't really important to this rerelease. You could have bought the originals for a much cheaper (and less broken) singleplayer experience. The only new thing this promised to add was a functional multiplayer and they failed at that somehow

Unpopular opinion, Battlefront 1 is the better game. HUD looks cooler, maps are funnier, Units are more unique. Different crosshairs for every weapon, cockpit view.
But BF2 is better balanced for Multiplayer. :D

I know I just have crazy luck not having bugs, in pretty much any otherwise-buggy release lmao, but a friend and I seshed Battlefront 1 all night last night on PS5 with me hosting, and it ran perfectly. High frames, no crashes or netcode issues, we ran through all the maps in a row. It was a great time.
