- Creating a shade garden and overcoming obstacles. Wow! My first big project at our new 5-acre homestead: transforming a small nondescript wooded area into a beautiful shade garden. And now, after facing and conquering several obstacles, it’s finished! I can’t wait to share with you how this simple space was absolutely transformed into a mini paradise. I’ll walk you through the process including thoughts on successful landscape planning and successful transplanting. I’ll also share my thoughts on the wide variety of plants I used for this garden and my considerations before planting each. And of course, I’ll discuss the various obstacles I faced in creating this shade garden and what I did to conquer the challenges. Time to get up, get out, and get active, creating an ideal space for a summertime hammock or camping under the trees and surrounded by all the beautiful plants. I can’t wait!
