I finally got around to finishing this one - I boldly stated "coming next week" 1.5 years ago, but ended up struggling and getting burned out on the track. I must say. You sir have EXCELENT taste. Almost all of the soundtracks you choose to work with are some of the best music from the best games. And what you do with them is just Magic. Subscribed!
I was so excited when I realized that I was listening to your version of T2 that I did a physical doubletake/turn and spilled my coke zero all over my desk
You made Terran One a masterpiece and Terran Two slaps, rocks, and it's so fire that we're getting out of Tarsonis with this one. I'm thrilled of imagining what can you cook with Terran Three.
I love that you kept that transition at 1:51 because that's one of the best parts of the original. The build up prior is like the great and terrible power and majesty of the alien races threatening the Koprulu Sector, and that transition is like the Terrans knocking back a beer and going "alright, bring it on!"
I appreciated this. The updated sound-libraries and fresh instrumentation bring a new flavour to the track, which was already very high-quality to begin with. Even if it's not _exactly_ like the original, all Starcraft enthusiasts will enjoy something here.
I had alot of fun listening to this! Brought back many childhood memories, I hope to hear a rendition of the 3rd and 4th theme too! Keep up the good work :)
You know I always love all your work but I gotta say there's some stuff that feels out of place in there. But I love a lot of it. Like ... 90% of the composition is insanely good. Really really ! I grew with this music and I have a lot of nostalgy attached to it. I can remember my very first custom matches and the exact location of my buildings on this song ! So if I may, without any disrespect, and subjectively give an honest opinion about your work : Starcraft OST is one of a kind, and I think that saturated and crunchy vibe in all Terran OST (due to whatever compression system that was used back then) is impossible to reproduce. Like, ever. Even with all the love you can give to the song, I sincerely think nobody will ever match the style of the original OST. Now that was said, this mythic song has few "themes" in it. And since I remember my very first game on it, I can understand different things (in the OG song) In order - 00:00 : Landing/Rise of the Terran - 00:15 : Exploration, scouting, expansion and technology advancement - 00:46 : Realization you're not alone and there's some crazy shit out there on the map - 1:31 : Heck, we aint gonna die here without a fight. Lets stand up and fight - 1:52 : "Ready to roll out !" Lets have some fun bursting through some lings ! - 3:04 : Fall and ultimate stand-off of the Terran - 3:31 : There's are even more crazier stuff out there ... Sorrow ... "The fall of the terran and respect to all lost unit out there" Landing is perfect. Nothing to say here. For the 2nd timecode, I'm missing that feeling of progression, of novelty and insane technologies doing their things. It feels like the Landing happened and we're simply staying "there" as an army without any evolution anywhere. For the 3rd timecode, the transition to the 4th part of the song is even better in your version than in the original, imo. It grows and grows in better shapes than the linear one from the original. For the 4th : Nothing to say honestly. For the 5th : The one that really bugged me out . Starting at 2:21 to 2:36, I don't feel inside some 2 tons armor shooting at lings and laughing as they burst like bags of hemoglobin, I hear the sound of a casino. It's so weird. And I lost that "grounded to earth" sensation. As for 2:37, in your version, I can literally see the brass shouting their music. But the OG had that weird bass effect that does not even make sense. And it gave some unique personality to the song that erased the brass. For the 6th & 7th : It's perfect, you captured all the feelings perfectly. Anyway, that's my take about what the music made me feel. Like I said. 90% is perfect. Love your work, sorry the impossibly long chunk of text, nostalgia is speaking.
Appreciate the feedback! I know what you mean - The ost has such a unique feel to it, a lot of nuance and such a cool soundscape. A bit difficult to capture while trying to add something new to it, but I wish I would have had access/knowledge of some of the synths that Glenn Stafford used in the OG.
Sounds great. Though watching the cutscenes on the remasterm I really don't understand why they decided out of everything, that was where Blizzard were going to cut corners. I mean the cheesiness is fun, but I feel like it could've been really good with modern CGI like the ones done for Halo 2 Anniversary by Blur studios.
Can you please work on Terran Theme 4? I think the Terran theme that best suits the orchestra style is theme 4. + As a side note, I really enjoyed this song! A great addition to my playlist!
Ick. This is not good. The composer for Starcraft 2 did a masterful job recreating the original, and it did not need to be redone. This is not near as smooth and true to the atmosphere as even the original in Starcraft 1. Those unfamiliar with those works might appreciate this track, but it was annoying to listen to for those of us more familiar with the games and the original soundtrack.

The video is emotionally matched to the music! I wonder if we'll see a Starcraft movie...

Finally.
Usually the people makes cover of the 1 and 3 themes only
Really loving the these click-ish percussions in the background.
Great take! Keep em coming Pontus! Looking forward to more great soundtracks and nostalgia.
Insane!!! It's the best version of this music so far even better than the original. Thank you for doing this

Perhaps some Warcraft 2 music next?
shponglefan did a very good job on those years ago. But if Pontus wanna do it too, then I'm all ears ~!!
Not really my thing, but I know Malcolm Robinson covered some themes from it and I remember them being really good!
@@PontusHultgren indeed... Too bad he is inactive on yt, lately

StarCraft but its Larry Laffer.

a miss for me unfortunately. maybe i'm just too used to original grittier instrument selection.
