What an utterly fabulous episode, yet again. Some really breathtaking images and the music at the end really shows your immense talent.
Thank you so much Norman, I'm so happy you enjoyed it! -Maya
Great episode! Magic Carpet is a jewelbox.
Wow! Really digging the song you played us out on. Dang. The tone you’re pulling of of your violin is so so rich and deep. The composition of the song, filled with such longing and hope. Put it all together with the video mastery (who doesn’t get lost staring into burning embers!) made for a truly amazing and memorable experience. One that I’m sure to come back to grab another listen real soon. Bella Bella!
I agree. So beautiful the music and how it was filmed and edited. Touched my heart.
Good to see him speaking Italian - it is a different world.
Italian is my favorite language to listen to. Beautiful.
Those of us that grew up sailing and racing classic boats and one design sailing dinghies WITHOUT any electronics, know what Aladino meant when he talked about the thrill and the feeling of going faster in a sailboat as compared to just watching the numbers on a screen.
Just like driving a slow car fast is more fun than driving a fast car with all driver aids (slow).
@@nielsdebakker3283 Exactly , we have a bunch of very fast cars and the one that is the most fun is an 87 BMW - its the slowest though . Miata's are great too for the same reason .
As for "feel" on a cruising boat , most I have been on it is TERIBLE . Steering with no feed back at all and an enclosure to make sure you can not see the sails or feel the wind and they don't go to weather to save their souls .
Magic Carpet is a special boat of true quality that does not sacrifice performance for interior volume , I hope # 2 is as good .
The electronics are helpful to teach you what your doing. Not to sail by. My first experiences were on giant beach cats, piloted by thrill seekers. Hard to replicate that level and keep a boat together.
What he didn't mention so is what Pogo's big claim to fame is: the small one, the Pogo 1/2/3 a.k.a. Pogo 6,50 (6,50 m = 21 feet) is theeee boat for the series subclass in the Mini-Transat. And the Mini-Transat is where later Vendeé Globe Sailors are made. Usually doing the first in the Pogo, and the second Mini-Transat in a proto type. It's actually one of the most innovative classes in racing. A lot of things get tried in 650 prototypes before entering the Open60, Volvo Ocean, etc .... ua-cam.com/video/zxJjbqEhPgc/v-deo.html
Additionally, Pogo-Designer Guillaume Verdier built many Class 40 winners with Pogo Structures. And some pretty famous Open 60s for teams like Hugo Boss, Banque Populaire, LinkedOut, Apivia, 11th Hours, Maitre Coq ... Ultime Maxi Tris for the Jules Verne (Gitana, Rothschild), New Zealand AC75 America's Cup winner ....
That said: Some people a drawn to that racing heritage. I still love the old world style of Aladino more. And Aladino is right, those boats want to be pushed in the danger zone.
@@braithmiller You are supposed to look at the sails and the rigging as well as take into account the feel of the helm and the conditions on the water, tides etc to do all that. At least that is what I was taught which is what they did before all the gadgets became so popular. Remember at one time they sailed tall ships 100s of feet long without engines (even).
Really loved that song. A ode to my wife of 42 years. Missing you........
Love Bob Emser’s phrase over on “The Art of Boatbuilding”.
“If you’re going to make it.
Make it beautiful “.
Loved the video. The closing fiddle trio demonstrates another, higher level of musicianship. More, please!
I have only recently “discovered” your channel. I am now almost caught up with your past postings and when I do I will be eagerly awaiting the regular Friday installment. I recognize the strong partnership you have and I hope you both realize how incredibly rare it is to have found what appears to be your soulmate in one another. I speak from some experience because my wife and I have been married for over 52 years. We look forward to your future together and the adventures you will share,
Loved the points aladino made considering he is a veteran sailor about his friends boat. Also, loved your playing at the end maya & hearing of your adventures altogether. Thank you for the video.
My favorite Italian reds come from Montepulciano. Such a treat to see the beauty of that place, thank you....
“Thanks Dini” --“No Problem” made me smile !!! Great playing at the end.
Dear Maya and Aladino, We are beginner/wannabe sailors, with a bit of experience sailing with our son who now lives in Nanaimo. I can't say enough how much we appreciate your channel...your storytelling, your music, your passion and excellence in boatbuilding! Always look forward to our Friday viewing!
Maya your playing is so beautiful. Your music touches me in a way that is so wonderful. So pure. Very unique shape to the instrument. More playing please.
Lovely episode...and gorgeous musical ending, beautifully produced. Well done!
Beautifully filmed and edited Maya. Pro quality.

Absolutely beautiful musical performance Maya. Thanks!
I would have taken a month’s worth of Italy episodes. So beautiful!
I had forgotten , how much I enjoy hearing you play. You are gifted and your videos (it is obvious that they take a lot of work) are wonderful and very creative. Thankyou❣
Thanks for allowing us to share your life experience and especially that last musical moment. Absolute Perfection !
Stay together, always. You are such a wonderful couple and you really are two in one. You will have so much to enjoy when you grow old together. Stay strong and keep up the good work. From Sweden with love!

Coming to come is a beautiful composition.... masterly performed...it touched my soul...thank you.
WOW that violin was magical!!! It really warmed my heart. Thanks for another great video
So happy you picked up the violin again. I've been missing your music. Fantastic!!!
Golden touch with the music, thank you again for a fabulous episode.
Wonderful to have glimpse of Tuscany and to enjoy Maya's violin virtuosity. Thank you!
So much talent in two individuals and varied at that. 😊😌
A great video, Maya. Aladino clearly enjoyed his sailing trip in the Canaries, and I enjoyed your "trio" performance at the end! More, please!
How beautiful is the violin music accomplished by fire sparks and crackling. It spoke to my heart and filled me with hope knowing there are two souls inspired by the feel of wind and water propelling them towards a future, seeing and sensing a world most have blinded with ikea box construction. Bravo Maya and Aladino. Thank you for sharing glimpses.
Outstanding musical treat. I love the violin without the screechy top notes. Mellow mmmm. Love it . More please. You could concert in every port and make a cool living. Gpx
We adore very much Tuscany! The Foods and wines and the stone that glows in sunriase and sunset! Lovely
I absolutely love to here you play the violin and really enjoy your videos, and will continue watching!
Thanks for the music next to a bonfire. Perfect.
An eloquent summary of your life, travels, and art in the past year. We live in an age of mediated knowledge, by book or computer screen but real understanding is experienced, not just numbers added up. Sailing travels across space and time, fast and slow, with a musical rhythm. ⛵
Amazed by your violin playing...👏👏👏
Another great episode from you guys...well done!!!
Beautiful music!! Always enjoy listening to all the Mayas. Great catch-up video. You did such a good job at that. Some people adjust for viewers, but Aladino is, wonderfully, always his own person.
I had a childhood friend who’s mom always force her to practice violin while they visited us in the winter. Your much better then she was but it brought back sweet memories.
Thanks for the update, AND the musical concert..
Always a Nice Story and Great Music,,,,,,,,Thank You!!!
Wow, you never cease to floor me with your musical vignettes. You are quite the musician, and your showmanship is amazing. Thank you for sharing. I will look forward to the next one. A wonderful channel, so glad to have found you both.
A friend of mine just bought a Pogo and his main reason to do so was that he only has so many days a year where he can go sailing. With the Pogo he can go sailing in the lightest wind and still have fun due to the huge adjustable sail area. But the boat is also manageable in 30 knots plus, even double handed. So on a two week Holliday he can enjoy sailing 14 days.
Great craftsmanship both on the boat and on the fiddle 😎👍✌️♥️
I taught myself sailing on a 25 footer with a tiller, then sailed on a bigger boat with a wheel helm. The feedback from a tiller is sooooo much better! I felt more in control and much safer.
Aladino is off the scale bright.
I agree 100% the best fun for me is when she heals over and you can feel all the power of the wind come thru the tiller. When the wind is behind and you are moving the fastest…its not as much fun because the only feedback is the wake…..Thank You for sharing..
Aladino is ABSOLUTELY right about the feeling the speed. When a boat is stretching itself, IT FEELS like it is out there doing speed. I was bringing a racing tri down from Marina Del Ray to Wilmington. The wind was in the 5 to 7 knot range, We were clipping along at between 7 to 9 knots, this tri was commonly sailed at 27 to 28 knots. We were absolutely bored, and it felt like we were crawling. I normally sailed a boat that did 7.5 knots maxed. So I should have had the sensation of speed. But the Boat did not feel it. If the boat does not feel it, you simply will not ether. That is how I KNOW Aladino is a sailor, He can feel if the boat is having fun herself. My old boat that was a Swedish built boat from 1926. I had been out in 5 knot wind and could feel her having fun. However I had her in 50 knot wind and 20 ft seas and she was having a blast. For it was what she was made for, and we could feel it from her. So I totally understand what he was feeling from the boat. Keep it up Aladino!
Thank you for a wonderful video - specially the violin trio in the end! I've played it several times already, and it just becomes more and more beautiful!
Wow what a whirlwind mini world tour. Lovely. And more musical segments please!
Maybe the most beautiful video ever produced on UA-cam with all the shots of Italy and boats and of course your music.....but I say that after a lot of your videos.
Another fine peak into your busy and varied lifestyle. I have missed your Concerto's . Thank You
Thanks for the sing and the story!
Loved the interview with Aladino.. he expressed so clearly in words his feelings, wishes and priorities.. and you asked just the right questions. Another episode to treasure. Now I dream of time in Tuscany.
I enjoyed the break from boat work. Beautiful travels and music thank you
What beautiful music you make girly, what an artist, absolutely mesmerizing !!
Wonderful story, beautiful video and music. Thanks you both!!
Always feel better after watching Maia and Aldino’s S.M.C. I and II every Friday. It sort of ‘earths’ me.
Really enjoyed your videography and music at the end. The music just brought a feeling of calm over me - thank you!
Wow, that violin work gave me tremendous goosebumps! If any instrument can heighten anyones vibration, it has to be the violin. You’ve ascended me to the next dimension. Thanks.. now I have to figure out how to crawl back into my skin suite
I've watched your channel for ages and have never commented. After this week's download I have to tell you your content makes my life better thanks.
So happy your learning Italian, good luck.
Glad you got some rest and relaxation. Really enjoyed your music!
Your band performs really well together. LOL!

Hypnotising strings...like the flames
Beautiful musical finish.
That was a fun whirlwind episode and I always enjoy when you have a fiddle.
Thanks Caroline!
Bellissimo! 👏👏 Grazie. 🙏🙏 From start to finish I loved every minute of it. The ending I've already loved twice, now I'm going to love it again. (Mabe twice. 😁)
Andrea Paladios church in Montepulchiano is a gem. Love the beautiful cyprus approach as well
Such a lovely video. You are both so talented in different ways and complement each other so well. The music at the end was absolutely beautiful. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for posting and sharing. Great to hear about the racing boat from Aladino, and hear about what else the two of you have been occupied with.
Ok....I'll go at it again.....LOVE your latest video
I grew up on sailboats just as you stated, no instruments, just the sea, the wind, the salt and the THRILL of adventure in my Soul. I sailed 16 footers on the Narraganset Bay up in Rhode Island, in rough seas and high winds, what a thrill to be keeled over, the sea at the rails, hanging on for dear life. Now that's speed!
Cruising, even performance cruising, is far more laid back and designed for comfort and the thrill of the long voyage to an unknown destination, which I also love. I love the feeling of the ship and the sea coming to terms with each other on just how to get there and being a participant in their jolly is a certain thrill all its own!
Either the SEA and all its majesty captivates you or it doesnt, but oh when it does you are LOST in her embrace forever!!!
Maya, your musical talents touch the soul again as usual. I have missed the melancholy of getting lost in my imagination of the sea as I listen to your magical rhythms. With the backset of a roaring campfire in the cool evening I am mesmerized by the tune and the instrument, the fingers of the flames and the embers as they float into the dark sky above. IS there anything more magical and more soothing for the soul than this? I think not!
What wonderful music!
Thank you so much for this episode, especially for the wonderful music. Looking forward to hearing more. Very special!
So great to see Italy in ur videos and can’t wait to experience the splendid new magic carpet I sailing ⛵️ the northern seas ! Cheers from Trentino 🇮🇹 😘😘
Amazing! Your playing at the end brought tears to , my eyes! Literally!
Thank you for taking us to Italy and Canada as well. As always, great content, videography and cinematography. Your editing skills are matchless!
As a once was, would be world champion racing driver, I can appreciate the need to feel the speed. Ironically, when I was racing single seat racing cars, I never really felt the speed unless I made a mistake. To go fast (and I won my first ever race as well as my first professional road race) required a smoothness that is deceptive. In sailing, I like small boats so that I can feel and touch the water.
God, Italy is so so beautiful. I've been there once but I still need to go back and see more.
What a trio!
Great video! Your skills at fielding and editing videos has drastically improved over the years.
Mia, you are so talented as a musician and the video editing is simply outstanding, I am confused to even contemplate how you edited the sequence! Simply amazing. You and Dini are the perfect team, wherever your sails take you is so well deserved. Safe travels.
What a beautiful vlog. Amazing work. Brilliant playing!
