- Chinatown Kuala Lumpur, or Jalan Petaling as they call it, is a food haven of authentic street food and comforting meals to please any like-minded foodie's soul. Most of the stalls are run by aunties and uncles who have been there for decades and even generations! With its rich history in food culture, its no wonder locals call this place a street food hotspot.

Such a friendly looking guy he obviously loves food just like you!

Latoy GFX his gut doesn't lie
He has been in other videos with Mikey.
the malaysian host is really nice and genuine!!
Mike Chen is not a Malaysian😆😆 He is a Chinese born American
yea, riiiight
@@melissar5261 I'm pretty sure he meant the Malaysian host as in the Malaysian guide. The guy who took Mike around and showed him around. That's also called a host.
Vidya Bessert
You mean Rick
@Qtri Nity So by your logic are ye saying that, say, all _Jews_ are bad people for not eating pork? 'Cause then we're getting into dangerously familiar territory where someone else once said something to a similar tune; it didn't turn end great for that guy.
Wow! I have actually been to this place... My palate has never been satisfied since I left Malaysia and came back to the US. The cuisine there simply changed me.
Your channels rock, your crew always are smiling. Brightens my day, I do chemo and watch as I go through that hell. Thanks for being you
Get better soon!
That truly means a lot..thank you
Brandon Gordon get well soon 💕 sending best wishes
Heyyy how you doin?
Hope you’re alright 🙏
I came back from Malaysia two months ago. Hands down, the cheapest and tastiest food you'll eat anywhere. It's simply amazing.
OK! Now, if I could just find a cheap apartment right near what we saw today, maybe there's not much more to want!
One of the best t bones I had ever was there a lemon grass steak with free fried ice cream on street can get whole grouper there too like was like wuuuuut and that’s coming from Texas life xD
preachhh
As a person who grew up in Malaysia, I approve
I loved your guest, he looked so happy!!
Hannah Peacock yeah he's gay af
Hey, I am so happy to see you in my country! I've learnt a lot from this video especially as I am Muslim and generally, there is a lot of Chinese food with pork I have to avoid. In saying that, tons of really cool food that I never knew existed for my other fellow non-Muslim Malaysians!
Thank you:-)
Is it just me or did Mike sound instantly better after all that Chinese medicine haha :)
Yeah... those chinese medicine are good for cooling the body... if you are too tired.. and have sore throat from eating too much fried stuff heaty food, those are the best remedies.
in general as the video goes on mike sounds better the more he eats
Yeah best go kill more tigers and elephants....

You made your mom Happy 😃 by drinking the Chinese medicine ❤️😂
Mike trying hard not to insult the herbal jelly got me dyingggg😂
Jerome b williams she called him WHATTT?!! >:(
@Jerome b williams is that what yaddow or whatever means?
The thing about us Malaysians is most of us won't even get insulted if someone doesn't like our food. We just laugh at their reactions.
In addition to your love for food, your love for your people is fiercely evident. You're also a little surprising, sometimes you seem like the guy who would not want anyone to touch the portion you're going after.... other times, you feed random people from your plate :-) you crack me up.
I'll tell you this Mikey.... after that medicine stop.... you sound a whole lot better LOL!
This episode is hilarious! Mikey the little boy is watching you play with your food! He's like, " I can't wait to be an adult!" LOL!
It's awesome how they hand on the food business to the next generation. The people are so friendly and kind. It's great that you have a local friend to show you around the best places to eat. I can see that he is really amused by Mike and it makes me smile.
Yes Mike, that's one thing I noticed in the video, the stall/shop owners were accommodating. Great video!
It’s so crazy how much people can connect over food! Like you can go to a foreign country and be welcomed in and learn a little about the culture, language, and still walk out with a full stomach. I have so many plans to go abroad thanks to you. I love your vids man keep them up 👍
I love this new guy, just so happy and upbeat. You just want to hug him
I laughed (I speak Cantonese) when he thought she meant "5 years", and when she said "50 years" in Cantonese, that face of confusion on his face.
Who else loves when the guy says “right??”
(Or is it just me )
that "right~" is so Chinese Malaysian I'm proud.
@@petraleong i know right~
its so cute hahaha
Ryeeeee
Jerome b williams Excuse me wtf
Malaysia has a great mix of foods from around the world and who better then Mikey to share it all with us. Great video mikey. Hope you feel better
Best video yet! You bring so much joy to people around you. When you shared the mochi with those travellers and complimented all the families on their life’s work, they were so happy. Keep up the good work Mike!
I'm from Kuala Lumpur but living somewhere else now and watching this videos makes me miss all the food so much especially the beef noodle and soy pudding
Thankyou mike . You keep my dreams alive . I may never get the chance to travel to such beautiful countries so your vids take me there with out travelling .Thanks again please please keep travelling and posting new vids :)
Thanks for the kind words and thank you for watching :-)
My thoughts exactly. I can't travel because I'm too sick and I have never been to any asian countries. To be honest I was never really interested in visiting but after watching Mikes videos it's made me really interested so I'm grateful that he takes us along with him.
Yola yola yola yola yola yola

What does that mean???

@@mikegeorgius7589 yeap it means superb or awesome in cantonese. The same recording was there since I first started studying law around that area which is like 12 years ago.

I'm so happy you enjoyed my country's food! I live abroad now and miss all the stuff I took for granted growing up.
Thanks for sharing this video! I love eateries runs by generations of the same family doing something, and doing it great. I hope they continue to do well. Great job!
I can't watch on an empty stomach, but can't help it.
Hadassah Autumn Hahn The first
@Hadassah Autumn Hahn me too
His health is getting better and better every time he eats HAHAHA
Even though your host didn't carry too much conversation during the shoot, he always looks so happy and he is enjoying everything- from eating the food and watching you try the foods. I loved watching his facial expressions.
Rick is such a lovely human, bless him!!
50yrs, 🌹God bless her

Hi Mike, so glad you loved your visit to my home country and enjoyed all the little gems in Petaling Street ... there are so much more to try that can still be savoured but you have a pretty good sampling! Thanks for highlighting my “backyard” ... and keep the videos coming. They are awesome!
Ohhh.. Watching this has been priceless for me.. Thank you for the absolute joy watching you in the tea shop Mike!❤
Yay! Glad you enjoyed Malaysian food 💕
I grew up eating most, if not all, of the food from those very same stalls and I'm missing them so much right now.
I miss food from home! Especially that 龜苓膏! so happy you got to experience a small part of that! Much love!
It's a long wait (for the videos) but I'm so glad you're enjoying Malaysian food!!
I Love Petaling Street. Every time I go to KL I must visit the place. The aunty who sells the sweet fruity candy. That's also a must. 😍😍
16:29 that guy standing next to the drumming kid looks like he regrets every decision he has ever made in his life😂😂
Thanks so much for appreciating our food
I love your videos! I always enjoy every single one of them! The man who is with you showing you around, his laugh is making the video better lol
Hahahaha omg .that Chinese medicine tea was the best reaction of yours i have ever seen..this was hilarious and honest ...loved it... Keep it up...
31 minutes of awesomeness !
Not even watched it yet 👍
I remember watching you 2 years ago, your videos have changed and developed so much.. it’s so much more professional.
I'm from Malaysia and I've been to Petaling street and tried the food items you had, and I have to say, you're a true foodie with lots of energy and appreciation for local food. I feel proud for Malaysia!
I like that the guy , can't recall his name, is as enthusiastic at eating everything along with you
Every trip I take to Malaysia I never fail to go to petaling street

I love this episode! 😍
I love watching his videos.very informative and helpful to a traveller like me.
There are few things that make me happier than the sound of that particular good-natured laugh locals do when foreigners are trying their food. Loved this episode.
Thanks for making me feel a little less homesick 😊 still miss Malaysia's food though
Vivian Phang do not come to Malaysia right now. A war is happening.
Mike, how about trying the Nasi lemak and the Satay. I also recommend you try roti canai and teh tarik 😁
Absolutely loved this video!!!
That's awesome blogging u do . It's amazing. Started loving diffrent kind of foods
So happy to see Mike happy when eating. Love you man, keep rocking! :)
for real
Thank you!!!
RantingGreekGamer there is something fascinating about watching people enjoy food. I think for me it's because I've had the majority of my intestine removed over the years so I can't eat a lot and it's very bland plain food that I have to eat. Ranting Greek Gamer I hope that you have a great day.
oh my so soorry to hear
Titan ♡
“...this must be so good for you.” the best reaction with perfect delivery lol
Thanx for the video! I'll be there in 2nd week of February. Can't wait!!!

The best series from mike and Rick.
Love the host ,what a nice smiling guy🥰
This was a great video, I want to try that jerky! Can you visit Chicago Chinatown and give us your impression? I keep asking about this because there are almost no food guides to this Chinatown on UA-cam.
Your videos are so awesome I’m loving your content, thanks Mikey.
Proud Penangite here! Thanks for featuring Penang food! such a treat to have a 30+mins vid :) keep making them Mike!

19:55 I’ve been watching Mike for years and this is his best moment ever. 😂
ohh man, you have to try soya fountain in Ipoh, Perak next time you visit Malaysia.
It is just amusing how energetic and excited Mike gets the better the food is. It is especially entertaining for me when he gets like that over stuff I'd run the other direction from.
Smiled this whole video..one of your best!
I find Asian food medicine very interesting
Could you do more cooking videos please!!
