- This week we find a local street food market in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! We had a great time meeting local food vendors and trying some incredible new dishes. We filmed this back in February as one of our first vlogs from being back in KL and are excited to finally share it with you guys!
The name of this lively place is Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and we would definitely recommend visiting if you are in KL. It is well worth adding to your itinerary for the city!
MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW ALONG ON: Instagram & TikTok @bevetravels
Thanks for watching guys and enjoy the video!
We filmed this video back in February guys, We weren't eating in public when it was Ramadan (thank you to all that informed us about that, you really saved us!) . Ramadan Kareem everybody and we hope you enjoyed the video :)
You can still eat in the restaurants.
Its ok we can't see the time because it see not ramadan..😊
I’m local, it’s fine don’t worry.
Its very good not to eat in a public. That show your kind, polite and respect. Keep going!!!
I saw in a blink, a Malay guy eating while walking in the background😅
The announcement on the loud speaker informing visitors to be extra careful with their belongings, wallets bags etc...
Ahhhh thank you! We don’t know this😆 we hope you liked the video 🫶
@@bevetravelsyour videos are wonderful, tq for coming to malaysia and sharing to the world our best foods 😄, ramadhan is nearing its last days., you should stay for eid ul fitri celebration.. And do Try lemang with chiken rendang, ketupat with savoury peanut sauce..
My fovourite food at the night market is Popiah Basah .. Murtabak .. and if its ramadhan .. you can find what we call as Roti John .. but normally they sell it during Ramadhan at the Bazaar
Love u guys. “Cendol” is pronounced “Ch-endol”. Ch as in chair
Ch as in chair...pandai abg cari example...letih gak nk layan semua c jadi k😂😂😂
Ahhhh thanks for sharing! We hope you liked the video 🫶🫶
baca komen ni baru terjawab persoalan aku.. dia cari kendall.. kendall tu apa? kat msia? kendall? 😅😂😂
The potato and beef item that you had is called "tauhu bergedil" which is fried tofu stuffed with mashed potato and spiced beef :)
Ahhh thank you! We didn’t know it had tofu inside! It is still one of our favourites 😆
Bergedil is like our take on croquettes..tauhu = tofu
So basically it's tofu stuffed with potato croquettes and bits of beef/chicken
13:37 I always thought y'all saying "mini motorbike" until I realized, it's "Murtabak" isn't it? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha oops🫣 definitely murtabak!😆
Makan time 🤙 sweet couple in Malaysia 🇲🇾
Thank you!🫶🫶
malaysia best food in the world and You need to know that Malaysia is the richest country in Southeast Asia
It’s one of our favourites we have been many times over the years 🫶😆
The salty taste is actually from dried plums. It balances the sourness from the lemon. The drink should have sweet, salty and sour taste.
Ahhh thanks for sharing, we didn’t know this! We hope you enjoyed the video 🫶
People in uniform Rela, civilian volunteer army, to keep peace.
Best way to eat the BEGERDIL (potato & beef filled tofu), is to take a bite of the bird’s eye chili for a little spice kick, after each bite of the begerdil dipped in the spicy soy sauce.
Ohhh Bob really likes spicy food so I will give this a go! Thank you for the recommendation 😆
You can always ask "apam balik" without sweet corn 😊
We will do this next time! Thank you 😆

4:06 - That was an announcement from the organizers of the Night Market that reminded visitors to be careful with the safety of their belongings such as phones, money bags (wallet) and others.
Also warned by the organizer of the Night Market to take care of the safety of family and ourself from any possible street crime.
Sometimes announcements are made if there is something to be told to visitors and traders.
Ahhh thanks for sharing! That is good to know! We hope you enjoyed the video 😆
Awesome
Thanks so much!🫶

Hi guys, may I ask, which part of England are you both from? I used to study in Kent and Boy! I loved it. Listening to you both takes me back down memory lane in a sweet, nostalgic way.
Thanks so much for watching! We are from the midlands originally but lived up in York for many years before we came travelling 😆
@@bevetravels York! Been there once, beautiful city!!! Enjoy your stay you two!!!
Beef and Potato in Tofu. The Malay name is Pergedil from the Dutch = Frikandel, German = Fricadelle.
Ahhh this is really interesting! Thanks for sharing 😆🙏🏻
Terima Kasih while translated as Thank you... Terima - accept, Kasih - Affection, Terima Kasih - Accept with Affection ❤
Ahhh thanks for sharing this! It’s great to learn 😆
Apam balik you can ask them to not put sweet corn in there they will do it for you
We will deffo do this next time! Thanks for the tip 😆😆

We will have left Malaysia before then unfortunately 🥲 we would love to experience it! We hope to be here next year 😆
This is the place you go to find local street food...not like other tourist always Jalan Alor...LOL you gonna ripped off in Jalan Alor for sure...
We don’t like jalan alhor too much. It is very touristy and we have been in Malaysia a long time now. We like to go to more local place 😆
Hope that you guys have had a good time exploring the street food at the TAR open market in KL.
Thank you so much for watching! We love it here 🫶
@@bevetravels Wonderful. 😀
Welcome bro Malaysia ❤ , stay safe , stay health ...
Thank you!🫶
FYI.. the classic ingredients for apam balik are crushed peanuts, sweet corn and sugar.
Ahhh thanks for sharing! We hope you enjoyed the video 😆
actually for the apam balik; If U prefer, U may request no corn. Thts the beauty of street vendor. more often than not, U may customize your order. No rules. just right.
Ahhh I love that! We will try next time 😆 thank you
Nice video..
Thank you!😆😆
Apam balik cheese n ceklat 🤤🇲🇾✌️

1:42 - Cendol ( pronunciation is "chen-dol" ).
In Malay Language, the letter "C" does not sound like the letter "K" in English.
Ahhh I see! So it’s roti CHani?
Done subscribed..❤❤❤
Thank you so much! We’re glad you liked the video 🫶😆
im impressed how u can just literally just know/translate when u bought the drink says kecil (small) - rm3 , besar (big) - rm5 ,u just automatically knew its small/big drink..without any english/someone even to describe it to u..and just a little side gesture, how u guys saying terima kasih instead of thank you ,means alot since u take the time to learn local language ...and for eve,the corn on apam balik can be requested to be removed, the stall normally just make new one from scratch rather selling the ready make's one..so dont feel bad if u dont want corn in your apam balik...
Ahhh thank you so much! We are really glad you liked the video and we will definitely try this next time we eat Apam Balik 😆🫶
10Q for good information for other people also...

Idiots are still harassing me even in my sleep. I got a lot of nightmares nowadays.

As a Malaysian, I need to say welcome to Malaysia!, it is a peaceful country.
Thank you so much! We love it here!🫶
MILO is pronounced MYLO! It’s one of Australia’s iconic products!
Ahhh thank you!🫣 we didn’t know it was from Australia either! We always thought it was Malaysian! Thanks for watching 😆
Just wanna share. Water in Malay is air. The pronunciation is are-yeay.
Ahhh thank you! We’ve always seen this written but never knew how to say it! Thanks for watching 🫶

That is one huge tauhu bergedil 🤤🤤🤤
It was SO GOOD!!😋
I mostly like your English British Slanging enjoying your lovely life in the way you and your lovely life in KL Malaysia
Aww thank you! We love this country! 😆🫶
The saltiness in that drink came frm the dried plums (asam boi) which is one of the things they throw in the big jar other than mints, lemons and lemon grass. I cant recall tasting a salty one but maybe that seller of yours went to town with the plums 😁
or mayb he forgot to add in the sugar ?
@@window2000 The "Detox drink" uses ice cream soda instead of plain water so that's pretty much laden with sugar already.
Ahh thanks for sharing this! This is great to know. Thanks so much for watching 😆
The murtabak is pronounce like murta’buck, the recommendation from the uncle was tahu bergedil peonounce like ta’who’ ‘burger’dil
The same drink I usually make taste like sweet, sour, minty and acidy. But not supposwd to be salty
The apam balik have 2 version. The 1 ur looking for is the crispy version. The original version is with peanut, sugar, and sweet corn. Some vendors sell with coconut/chocolate
Ahhh thank you! We will try to say this next time we are out 😆 we hope you liked the video!
I always get the fresh spring rolls + fresh fruit too, to balance out the heavy fried foods. Love me some martabak 👌 and nasi lemak with beef rendang 🤤
All that food is the best! We love it 😆😋

English people worrying about breaking a RM100 note only cos people gasped when i tried paying with a 50quid note in Uk! Lol

This ancient Javanese drink, which means swelling, is made from very simple ingredients, just rice flour, coconut milk and granulated sugar, but the taste is extraordinary. I once drank it when visiting the special region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. And I think this is where the cendol is the most delicious.
In Malaysia, chendol is popularly being sold mainly by indian muslims. So i doubt it originated from Java
@@syed3247 We can trace it through ancient Javanese manuscripts written by Mpu Triguna in the 12th century from the Kingdom of Kediri, East Java, Indonesia and then the Javanese people migrated so this drink arrived in Malaysia. Linguistically, Cendol belongs to Javanese, there are no Indian words here.
I also visited the Indonesian Gastronomy museum first
@@syed3247 there is no good Indian food and drink🤣
We would love to give this a try 😆

Visiting Malaysia feels the same as visiting Bangladesh.
The two countries have an extraordinary bond of love that surpasses Romeo Juliet, the proof is that Malay girls really desire Bangladeshi men🇧🇩🇲🇾❤️
Tapi rame tkw indo yang di entot sama bangla 😂
It's partially true, yes there are a lot of Bangladeshi in Malaysia but most of the bangladeshi will marry indon girls since indon girls are very easy to get.
If u goto jb, 85% factory worker from there is indon, there all worker same like Bangladesh
Malaysia vs indonesia like dog and cat.. Fighting each other day and night.. The funny thing if something bad happen in indonesia or malaysia they unite and greeting each other... 😊😊😊then fight back...
Berpikir apa sebenarnya identitas Malasia.
