I love this song and I’ve finally figured out why. The base line is so fantastic. Nate not only keeps the song pulsing he provides the shifts too. Just masterful. And not too hidden gem by the Foos
I think we really needed this rock and Roll enviroment back. A dirty rock and roll full of dirty guitars e wierd melodies. Wasting Light for sure is a master piece. Love it!
Once upon a time I was somebody else In another life, I saw myself Way back then, back when I was new Somewhere down the line I started to slip Years gone by, biting my lip All the while, all this time I knew Now you're on your own, one for the pages Over the hill and through the ages Does my heaven burn like hell on you? Out beneath the cracks and coming in waves Rolling like an earthquake under the pavement Heavy now, tell me Mr.Truth You got a lot of nerve Now show a little backbone why don't you [Chorus] I'm lookin' for some back and forth with you Are you feeling the same as I do now and now and then? I'm lookin' for some back and forth with you Are you feeling the same as I do? Down and out Holding my breath I waited and waited How'd the simple life get so complicated? Shoes to fill, secrets to spill down you Deer in the headlights, spoke in the wheel You want pretend I need for real I'm taking it back, all my IOU's You got a lot of nerve Now show a little backbone why don't you [Chorus] [Solo] You got a lot of nerve Now show a little backbone why don't you [Chorus x3]
Getting straight up clean guitar in only my left ear, this even sounds like the Beatles! lol in all seriousness, Chris pulled the song off great even though his distortion died. Respect.
ummm i'm thinking Dave forgot his lyrics. lol Of course I'm basing this on the studio album when he only mentions Mr True/truth 1x in the song. Here he does it 2x. BUT BOTH ARE SOOOOO FUKIN AWESOME!!!!
Looking for some back and forth yeah baby, all the way baby, some back and forth with you baby.. Gotta have that back and forth yeah baby, baby baby baby...
@BurialWarlock Structurally, the way it starts in 4/4, then switches to 6/8 during the second "stanza" of the verse, but then switches back to 4/4 in the last two bars, then switches to a 3-bar pattern of one bar of 9/8, and 2 of 12/8 (or 4 of 6/8, making it a 5-bar pattern), while Ringo maintains the 6/8 feel on the drums, then switches to a 4-bar pattern of 3 bars of 6/8, and one of 7/4 during the 'Mother Superior jumped the gun" part, then switches to a doo-wop pattern of 4/4...
@BurialWarlock ...Down to the bits that I left uptown, I need a fix cause I'm going down, Mother Superior jumped the gun, (x6) Happiness is a warm gun, (Bang bang shoot shoot) (x2) (Various ad-libs)." Now, as far as imagery, multiple-meanings, lyricism, and overall literary excellence, this is on a completely different level than the Foo Fighters.
...doesnt he feel like dancing. (lahat ng vids nya sa letterman during the album launch ng wasting light, same old steps) hahaha ASTIG KA TALAGA DAVE!!!:D salamat sa musika!:D
@BurialWarlock People don't realize the intricacies that went into making Beatles songs, they know they changed the world, but they don't know how, and that's the beauty of The Beatles. A song like "It's Getting Better" has so many subtleties that take multiple listens, and a lot of research to discover fully, but people don't know that, all they hear is a catchy pop song, which is the beautiful part.
@PoeticJustice05 yeh your right i wanna hold your hand isnt rock n roll i meant twist and shout only realy i doesnt matter if its a cover or not its still a great song and i dont think i ever said anything about the beatles being a rock band but they deffinately inspired alot of rock bands
I like how the crowd is casually rocking out being all calm and stuff but if I were there Id be fucking bouncing off the walls shouting the lyrics being obnoxious. Id loose my shit.
@BurialWarlock Don't tell me you're of those people that have only listened to "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "She Loves You" and that's why you think they're just ok. In 1965, they started taking drugs, they became heavily influenced by the songwriting prowess of Bob Dylan, especially when he came out with the REVOLUTIONARY "Like A Rolling Stone" and they also went to India, which heavily influenced their playing. 1965 is the year they started making great, experimental pop music.
@BurialWarlock I have the entire Foo Fighters discography. I already told you I'm a big Foo Fighter fan. I know their music. You saying there's nothing mind-blowing about the Beatles just goes to show you know nothing of how they made their music, and the history of music at that time and before, and that you haven't been listening close enough. I've listened to every Foo Fighter album, let me ask you, how many Beatles albums have you listened to?
@klimgeiten its alright dude i used to not get the beatles but you gotta realise that they are an incredible band without them so many bands would not be around start listening to some rock n roll beatles stuff like twist and shout i wanna hold your hand etc cos its realy good then you can start to appreciate their classics oh and listen to helter skelter too
@smellslikebeef They aren't on the same scale, songwriting-wise; meaning, lyrically or structurally. They do write catchy rock hooks, and if you like listening to them more it's all good.
@BurialWarlock You're right, it is my opinion. It is also the opinion of anybody who has ever written a song, or tried writing a song, studied songwriting, studied music, studied history, studied literature, poetry, or READ poetry with a fair bit of literacy.
@BurialWarlock There's a difference between "I don't like their music," and "they are over-rated." If you don't like their music, cool, that is personal to each individual, but to say they are over-rated is ignorant, because they were the greatest songwriters of the past 100 years, whether you like their music or not.
@pow1er1ic Luckily for my argument, The Beatles not only made complex songs, but they made them enjoyable to listen to, and have appeaked to billions of people around the planet.
@BurialWarlock It isn't just that it's complex, if that were the case, The Mahavishnu Orchestra or some other jazz fusion band would be considered the greatest band ever (which isn't far from the truth); it's that they put their knowledge of music and songwriting to such a use that they pushed the boundaries of music like no other band before and very few after them has done, while at the same time making music that had MASS appeal.
@greatfelixo Twist and shout was a cover, I wanna hold you hand is not rock and roll, it's pop, but most definitely, yes, Helter Skelter is as Rock as it gets, having said that, the Beatles were most definitely not a rock band, they were pop. They were what pop is supposed to be.
Look at the shifting band members! XD Dave teleports from the left to the right side of room (3:02- 3:08) then magically he rocks out up front (3:12) Then the guitarist behind Dave slides across the room in 0.5 seconds. (3:15 - 3:17) and then Dave is back at the microphone in time to sing the rest of the song
@BurialWarlock The Beatles are not over-rated. Nirvana, maybe. The Beatles changed music forever. If you think The Beatles are over-rated you don't know about music, or its history. This is coming from a HUGE Foo Fighters fan, but nobody touches The Beatles. Imagine Nirvana's impact on world in the early 90's, multiply it by 1000, and you'll get The Beatles' impact on the world throughout the entire 1960's. They dominated the greatest era of music of the 20th century. Dominated.
I love this song and I’ve finally figured out why. The base line is so fantastic. Nate not only keeps the song pulsing he provides the shifts too. Just masterful. And not too hidden gem by the Foos
Nate is not recognized enough for how good he is. He kicked ass in SDRE and did the same in the Foos.
No bass player gets the respect they deserve.
But epically this song. His sound even out does Hawkins in this song
i love Nate Mendel's little dance he does when he gets into a song!!!
I think we really needed this rock and Roll enviroment back. A dirty rock and roll full of dirty guitars e wierd melodies. Wasting Light for sure is a master piece. Love it!
Love the Beatles tribute!
love your rush profile name!
I only listen to this version for Nate's tone/bridge improvisation section. Phenomenal.
Nate's slides during the pre-choruses give this song some WHIP
Once upon a time I was somebody else
In another life, I saw myself
Way back then, back when I was new
Somewhere down the line I started to slip
Years gone by, biting my lip
All the while, all this time I knew
Now you're on your own, one for the pages
Over the hill and through the ages
Does my heaven burn like hell on you?
Out beneath the cracks and coming in waves
Rolling like an earthquake under the pavement
Heavy now, tell me Mr.Truth
You got a lot of nerve
Now show a little backbone why don't you
[Chorus]
I'm lookin' for some back and forth with you
Are you feeling the same as I do now and now and then?
I'm lookin' for some back and forth with you
Are you feeling the same as I do?
Down and out
Holding my breath I waited and waited
How'd the simple life get so complicated?
Shoes to fill, secrets to spill down you
Deer in the headlights, spoke in the wheel
You want pretend I need for real
I'm taking it back, all my IOU's
You got a lot of nerve
Now show a little backbone why don't you
[Chorus]
[Solo]
You got a lot of nerve
Now show a little backbone why don't you
[Chorus x3]
great album, great song. foo fighters, legends.
holy shit.....what a great performance....FOO FIGHTERS FOREVER
Rest in ETERNAL peace Taylor Hawkins....what a smile....great power drummer!
Actually they were at Ed Sullivan Theater so it was an homage to the Beatles. The logo on the bass drum head even mimics the Beatles logo.
digging the bassline!!!
No creo que exista una banda mejor en directo actualmente. Insuperables!!!!
Getting straight up clean guitar in only my left ear, this even sounds like the Beatles! lol in all seriousness, Chris pulled the song off great even though his distortion died. Respect.
Wow, great sound quality! Real musicians.
Pat Smear rocks! One of my favorites on the new album! Foo forever!i
ummm i'm thinking Dave forgot his lyrics. lol Of course I'm basing this on the studio album when he only mentions Mr True/truth 1x in the song. Here he does it 2x. BUT BOTH ARE SOOOOO FUKIN AWESOME!!!!
Amazing how they sound just like on the record, probably the only band that does that.
Green day does it well too
Best song on the album!

Dave's a great drummer.
I'm barefooted now. My socks got rocked right off my feet by this.
Big Love to ALL 💪🤍✌️

I love this song....Dave is a poet!

@Teutonic1250 i know I can hear it if I listen close but you can hear Nate's bass playing above it.
they look sooooo good in suits...
I like how the crowd is casually rocking out being all calm and stuff but if I were there Id be fucking bouncing off the walls shouting the lyrics being obnoxious. Id loose my shit.

@klimgeiten its alright dude i used to not get the beatles but you gotta realise that they are an incredible band without them so many bands would not be around start listening to some rock n roll beatles stuff like twist and shout i wanna hold your hand etc cos its realy good then you can start to appreciate their classics oh and listen to helter skelter too

what date was this show?
Ruhe in frieden
what about this videos in color? are we back to the old days of grey and white?
Sérgio Cruz It’s supposed to give tribute to the beatles.
@pow1er1ic Luckily for my argument, The Beatles not only made complex songs, but they made them enjoyable to listen to, and have appeaked to billions of people around the planet.
@nickpro11 it is allready out :)
BEATLE FIGHTERS FTW!!!
@PoeticJustice05 alright were all g on this train
reminds me of the video for in bloom by nirvana sort of

The Foo Fighters are to days Beatles
@BurialWarlock I find that hard to believe, but if your point is that everyone has a right to like or not like what they want, then I agree.
@x7itanium For me, Wasting Light is their best album...
0 dislikes, the way it should be.
Look at the shifting band members! XD

the guitar volumes arnt right. it sounds heaps better on the 606 session or whatever its called
@slash4100 WORD = WORLD!!!

Only King Grohl can mess up the lyrics @ 1:58 and still be a badass!!
nothing sounds as authentic as dave grohl.

@slash4100
which word? the F?
@jerfoofan This isn't the greatest performance of this song, if you're just judging by this video. It sounds amazing on the record
@Crainiam1 yeah it doesn't blend well with the Beatles sound they were going for.
