The Talkbox effect cannot be done without a microphone. This is why you see a microphone in this review. If you are looking for a small amplifier you need to look at different products. Our helpdesk is always able to help you out.

NOTE: If you’re just practicing at home without a band, you don’t need a mic and PA, the MXR Talk Box provides enough volume for this purpose.

I love that solo! That is actually one of the main things that revamped my interest in a talkbox 😆 I think the best solo on We Like It Here though is Corey Henry’s on Lingus

What mic do you think would be best to use to pickup the sound from the talkbox?
Hi Jeffry, you have to treat the talkbox like it's another singer in the band, so whichever microphone your vocalist(s) uses is the one I would recommend to you.
Besides that, a Shure SM57/58 should do the job all the way up to high end condenser mics, Jeff Beck even used a shotgun-style microphones on his performances.

How basic can i get my set up? I just want to play around. I have a keyboard. If I plug it in to the keyboard, and a small amp, is that all I really need? Sorry I don't play music. Just want to play around with it as easily as possible.

18-volt 1000mA Dunlop ECB004/ECB004EU AC adapter.

Do you need a regular MIC if you want to use it via a SYNTH and do not want your own voice to be present (in the mix)?
monsterjazzlicks if you don't want your voice just don't sing along. you just have to lip sync.

Hi, what is the difference between this talk box and the Dunlop Heil talk box?
The big difference with the dunlop is that the MXR has 3 knobs: volume, tone and gain. The dunlop is only the talkbox without any extra tone or volume options. So its pretty basic compared to the MXR.
Julio Israel Cordero Ticse I would say the major difference is that Heil Talk box connects to the speaker output of your amp (or a separate amp to drive it), where as M222 goes in front of your amp, or can work as standalone unit without an amp.

Waarom is er een microfoon nodig? Ik heb mensen talkboxes zien gebruiken zonder microfoon, zit er dan een verschil in per merk of type?
De karakteristieke talkbox klank maak je met je mond. De microfoon is dus nodig om dat uit te versterken.
Dat is in principe voor alle versies en merken hetzelfde.
Waar wel een verschil in zit is de manier van aansluiten. Bij de originele talkbox had je een aparte versterker en speakercabinet nodig. Modernere versies zoals deze MXR M222 is dat niet meer nodig en kun je rechtstreeks op je versterker aansluiten.

Zonder test met synthesizers of vergelijkingen met andere talkboxes kan ik hier niet zoveel mee.

Half-singing? SMH No, no, no. You MOUTH the words and ANUNCIATE the consonants. You shouldn't be using ur own voice at all. (Unless u want to have 2 voices heard)

after a few years and you have lost a few teeth from the heavy vibrations and volume you can work on a whole new sound (and stage presence)... maybe a fatter "tube" as well. lol.... this is one of the funniest pedals though it sounds cool on some stuff it should come with a black bag so no one can see you. lol
