- I am super lucky to have been invited out to Trans Madeira. To race the most epic week of mountain enduro racing, where some of the world's best enduro races and EWS athletes have come to race downhill mtb. I flew with my twin brother Jono & Ben. After upgrading Ben's bike we set off to ride some of the sick trails and filmed the whole day. Enjoy some epic POV downhill riding with wet and dry sections throughout, legends

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how unbelievably jet Jono is.
It’s a shame that Matt’s not well, but I have to say I’m looking forward to Jono and Ben taking over the channel for a week. Jono is great with the camera and watching Ben flying down the mountain is great to watch. Hope you all have a great week and looking forward to the next one.

Agreed. And good on Matt for making his health a priority. After all the hype I bet that was difficult to walk away from such a cool event. I'm sure he wanted to tough it out for the content and the experience. There is no point in being at a cool event if you cant enjoy it

@@evanjones6091 Just speculation but it could be that Matt realized he was getting smashed in this event. Alot was expected from him and maybe the migraine was exasperated by the fact that it looked bad. He had already talked about how if you lose time or mess up its over for you then Jono left him in the dust. I don't know just seems sus a bit

@@lightspeed4173 He had a concussion before this event, and this also seems like the sort of thing that would massively aggravate it. They're weird injuries and not something to take lightly. I doubt you'd fly to an island to ride bikes, just to use a headache as an excuse to pull out after the first stage.

The differences between Ben (who I think everyone can relate to) and Jono (who's superhuman enduro fitness is beyond comprehension) are really interesting to watch.
It's a shame you've taken a hit but hopefully you're well and can get back on the horse as soon as! Take it easy!!!

Wow! What a crazy first day! As gutted as I'm sure Matt feels about having to leave, he's definitely doing the right thing. Migraines are no joke, and could completely render a person from functioning normally, let alone in a highly demanding enduro race.
Jono and Ben both killed it with some quite impressive riding, pro and novice respectfully. Looking forward to see their progressions in the next couple of days, and the interesting content they'll provide during Matt's absence.
Let's all hope Matt is okay and send him some positive vibes.

Watching the POV footage of the race, with the heavy breathing and intensity makes me think of a mountain bike horror movie like they're being chased by evil creatures and an army of ghosts. Love it

Jono along with those other enduro riders are absolute beasts! How you wing tracks like that all day especially when your getting physically and mentally tired is beyond me. Props to Ben too, completely out of his comfort zone but giving it a go anyway. Hope it's nothing to serious with the head Matt. 100 per cent right flying home to get it checked out. Smashing the content once again, love it!

I was lucky enough to complete Tweed Love enduro some years ago, loved it and the hardest days riding ever. But 5 days of that!!! Hats off 👏
I am really glad you stopped riding and had yourself checked out when you did not feel well, Matt. There is this pressure on athletes to just keep pushing even if they really do not feel well. It takes courage to stop when something does not feel right and not put pressure on yourself or get pressured by others. Take care.
As much as I love watching Matt do all the things he dose on this channel. I would love to see some more vids of Jono racing. Maybe some world cup and what not.

Hopefully you'll see this Matt, I have chronic migraines and you can pick up migraleve over the counter, genuinely do work wonders, always worth packing them for trips in case of moments like this! All the best and thanks to the 3 of you for a sick vid!

You should swap out the second/third roller at the start for a little speed step down. You always gap to the downside of the roller but you should make it a little jump. Love this series guys!

Jono is insane, that 2nd track was brutal.
Not sure how many of the viewers know this, but Jono is the real deal downhill guy. I knew about him for years, didnt even know he had a brother (gogo Matt!! get better man!!) , so its really cool to see him do some enduro. Enduro is literally insane stuff, you have to be hard as to do it at that level. I watched Dan Atherton of all people, after winning a race (transavalanche?) nearly toss his lungs on the ground... pure insanity. Ben really had no idea what he was doing, Matt was being a bit crazy taking him to that level of event. Anyways, enjoying the content, but hoping Matt is ok.

I had a concussion three years ago, didn't go to hospital, just tamed down my activity for a few weeks (e.g. just doing these things in gymnastics that don't get hits, ride more forest roads instead of trails...) and i still can feel it when i slept bad. Mostly in situations with bright sun out and driving out of a tunnel by car (there are one or two here in Switzerland) where my brain really struggles to adjust for a few seconds.
So, better treat head injuries properly and avoid things like this down the line...
Does Jono normally yell “right hander” and “there’s a bridge!” While racing? Or was that just for the camera
