Touché! This is similar to what we call 'Ragda' here in Mumbai , made with a similar non-currying process, except with white peas. Currying puts a oily, spicy filter on that distinct , subtle legume flavour, that is preserved with this simple pressure cook-simmering process.

@triniqnb4 I still use the baking soda too but some people like their bara more on the yellow side so I gave them another option. You can add both together because the bara ends up pink lol
