Mayuri's contribution in this arc is insane. First, he maintains the balance of the souls when Quincy invades. He helped in distributing those pills that Urahara created to recover bankai. He saves all zombified Captains, lieutenant and Kenpachi. He defeats Giselle and Pepe. He also defeats the left arm of the Soul King with the help of Nemu. Lastly, he created Chair-sama for Aizen. Truly the MVP of this arc! Yhwach underestimates him by not putting him as one of the Special Threats.
Yhwach selected these five people based on their level of danger. Of course, Mayuri has a strong battle record, but he fights with pre-prepared weapons such as research products and modified Zanpakutou, so if you can get information on the enemy's hand like Lille and take countermeasures. , you can easily conquer it. That is why Yhwach did not add him.
Mayuri stopped Calling Nemu "Nemuri No.7" because when she outlived her lifespan, she stopped being a science project and became his greatest creation🤧🤧
Mayuri is also the type of father that would physically abuse their daughters just for the pettiest reason ever. I still remember the beating he gave Nemu during the Soul Society arc just because Nemu tried to save him.
Mayuri basically gave Pernida the ultimate cancer/tumor, but if it weren't for Nemu, I think Mayuri was cooked. Pernida had adapted to Zaraki's level and had adapted the shedding skin ability of Matai Fukuin Shotai
Nemu's sacrifice was so emotional and the fact that she'll do whatever it takes to protect mayuri even when she risk her life it really shows that she cares about him so much 😢
Basically Pernida died from cancer caused by Nemu's overgrowing cell metabolism (without part of her brain controlling it that is), pretty ironic considering Soul King's left hand represents "advance" aka growth. The person speaking at the end is Nanao, and you'll soon know why she's featured in the opening.
The reason why Pernida eats Nemu because he learned Mayuri's bankai personality.. All that Pernida learn during this fight Learned how to talk because of Zaraki Gained Zaraki's physicality Gained skim peeling ability because of Mayuri's bankai and learned how to eat without teeth too.. basically whatever Pernida touches, it will learn and also copy the behavior. If Pernida touches Aizen, it will copy Aizens physicality and also his behavior. Imagine Pernida talking mad cash like Aizen 😂
the name NEMU itself means DREAM so he doesn't wanted her to destroy herself the DREAM of his life time and also the proud he told that he surpassed kisuke will show you how proud he was for nemu. thats why she's my third favorite female character of bleach.
I mean he is under the assumption that he is the only one who created an evolved artificial soul but Urahara already created Jinta and Ururu much before him. 😅

Plus try to fight against Pernida be difficult mainly the longer the fight pernida win rate definitely increase similar to Aski even tho both different abilities they had same way of win.
Mayuri is the real MVP of this arc he figured out and resolved so many problems, defeated many problematic opponents, and save a lot of captain and vice captains in the process this man is the MVP

@@hxppythxughts7149 nah. They are Artificial souls created by Urahara. Confirmed by Kubo on Klub outside. And there is no thing like a "Zanpakuto Guardian". Those were just some other creations of O'etsu that acted as his personal bodyguards.
This episode is beautiful in so many ways. It adds so much more depth to Mayuri's character and might be some of Kubo's best writing and has many parallels. We always thought Mayuri treated Nemu like trash but we learn here that he was basically just an overprotective dad. We know that Mayuri doesn't care about losing any test subjects or experiments but the only one he cares about losing is Nemu. Nemu is the culmination of everything that he is. His development of her is the reason he was promoted to Captain and her outliving her projected life span became the realization of his dream. She is his greatest work and in many ways, his reason to live. Like a dad wanting to watch his daughter grow up. Mayuri might be a psycho and scientist through and through but we learned that he still in fact can experience emotions like love. Lastly, the biblical parallel that Nemu was completed at her 7th iteration in the same way that God created the world in 7 days and on the 7th day he rested is just so beautiful. Nemuri no. 7 was Mayuri's life's work reaching completion and after her, there was no reason to try and create another as she was evolving on her own. Mayuri was finally able to rest. Also, I found it so perfect that what defeated Pernida was basically the absence of Nemu's brain or rather, Nemu herself. The evolution of Pernida became senseless. Nemu truly was, in a way, perfect. Anyway, I'm gonna go copy and paste this at a few other comment sections of my other favorite reactors, lol.
this is one of the best fights in the series imo. the theme of advancement- kurotsuchi being a mad scientist originally obsessed with progression and now having that clouded by his love and idealisation of his own creation that he views as perfect, he falls victim to the very same mentality that let him lead Szayelaporro to his demise whilst in the face of a foe who can advance endlessly. And who would save Kurotsuchi from his own demise, but that very same Szayelaporro? He is forced to abandon his attachment to his creation for the sake of advancement. It's a beautiful theme. Also some cool details I noticed, firstly as Kurotsuchi's nerve agent infiltrates Pernida's finger he takes his finger off before it can take over his whole body, just as Kenpachi took his arm off before it infiltrated is, and then begins speaking in Kenpachi's voice, showing he learnt that reaction from Kenpachi. Secondly, it devours Nemu because it learns to from Ashisogijzou :)
This episode didn’t just give us some of the PEAK-EST moments in the series, it also gave us 2 things. 1: Turns out Nemu’s a bit of a Badass Mommy. 2: Mayuri is maybe PARTIALLY kind of a Good guy😅
You can notice that these other two Bambi's aura effects are replaced by Gigi's skull thing, because the original ones were certainly absorbed by Yuha.

I say "assume" because every episode to this point has been named after an actual chapter title from the manga. Mayuri said right before that it's foolish to dream while awake so he named the project Nemuri so he could fulfill his dream while being awake. Essentially Nemu is a dream come true for Mayuri but obviously he would never admit that because he's too prideful. Also the 2nd part of the title card Never Ending My Dream is a reference to the fact that the Nemuri project will keep going on and on. So Mayuri's dream will never end

I loved this fight with how for a moment, we see the humanity of Mayuri. Until now we were made to see Mayuri as nothing more than the mad scientist who only cares about science
Mayuri was surprised that both Yumichika didn’t fled nor interfere in the fight but that’s just who they are, remember it’s an embarrassment for them to run from a fight but they also wouldn’t interfere in someone else’s fight especially when they’re enjoying it. A nice little call back to when Yumichika didn’t interfere Ikaku’s fight against an arrancar even if it means him dying.
Michael, I think you missed the point of that Szayelaporro scene... Szayelaporro's dead, that isn't actually Szayelaporro, that's mayuri's inner consciousness taking the form of Szayelaporro to remind him of his failures as a "pseudo scientist", so when mayuri crushes Szayelaporro, that scene is basically him crushing the version of himself that had grown complacent living in a dream in which he believed his creation was perfect, as it basically goes against what mayuri's own view of scientists should be like is...
In the manga Pernida's death is even worse, it is explained that he will be trapped in a regeneration/self destruction cycle until he cant keep up with the overgrow effect

I would say this is still a Mayuri's own fight including Nemu was also a piece of creation among his tremendous scientific research and development. Kubo is such a genius for the idea of story telling. BTW the voice of poem at the end is Nanao and I guess she is gonna pop off next episode for the unfinished fight between Shunsui and Baro.

The artificial soul could only live and grow to about 2 years, so Nemu has a special organ to multiple cell division further to be at a normal rate like other souls
The anime left out a small panel from the manga. For more context, Mayuri left Pernida in a perpetual state of exploding and regrowing indefinitely until there’s nothing left.

I loved this fight with how for a moment, we see the humanity of Mayuri. Until now we were made to see Mayuri as nothing more than the mad scientist who only cares about science

Mayuri was surprised that both Yumichika didn’t fled nor interfere in the fight but that’s just who they are, remember it’s an embarrassment for them to run from a fight but they also wouldn’t interfere in someone else’s fight especially when they’re enjoying it. A nice little call back to when Yumichika didn’t interfere Ikaku’s fight against an arrancar even if it means him dying.

For a simpler term of how Pernida died. He got cancer/tumor that self destruct after eating Nemu's remains but her brain.
I would say this is still a Mayuri's own fight including Nemu was also a piece of creation among his tremendous scientific research and development. Kubo is such a genius for the idea of story telling. BTW the voice of poem at the end is Nanao and I guess she is gonna pop off next episode for the unfinished fight between Shunsui and Baro.
