To clarify at the beginning of the episode, Lille was trying to shoot uryu but after he saw him shooting renji he held back that means none of them really trusts Uryu
To answer some of the questions you had in the episode (that aren't spoilers to answer). * Pernida is Sternritter C "The Compulsory". His ability was supposed to be named back when the royal guard of Yhwach were first introduced, but for some reason the anime just kind of skipped naming them. At this point though I think they're well beyond actually naming it in the anime. * We actually got to see Yhwach take Pernida in the anime original scene from last cour of Yhwach and Ichibe meeting in the past. In that exchange Ichibe seals The Almighty away from Yhwach, but in the exchange he's able to get his hands on Pernida which was what Ichibe was using to "attack" Yhwach with in the first place. It's actually really cool getting to see those things connect in the anime when it was just kind of glossed over in the manga.

Some details you missed 1. At the beggining Lille was actually aiming at Uryu, you could tell since he was looking at one direction and then he looks at other direction to look the Soul Reapers, so Jugram isn't the only one who doesn't buy Uryu 2. In the flashback of Ichibei and Yhwach, when Ichibei seals the Almighty he says "you think i would let you take the Soul King's arm for free", so Yhwach DID take the arm but in return Ichibei seals the Almighty 3. When Pernida is talking to Mayuri he is angry at him for "insulting the Quincies", so he is LOYAL to both Yhwach and the Quincies in general, even identify himself as one (also the name "Pernida" was likely given to him by Yhwach himself, and he claims the name with pride, further confirming his loyalty to him)
man, from this episode onward, things are about to get WILD. this episode was top tier and next weeks episode is the start of my favorite fight in this arc. you re gonna love it!
MAYURI IS THE MAHORAGA ITSELF LMAO, he uses his insane knowledge to modified his own freakin Bankai and made it ADAPTIVE TO ANY SITUATIONS THAT HE WAS IN
Exactly. I feel there may have been a similar dissonance between his true nature (sadistic and gross) and his ideals (scientific advancement) that Soi Fon had with her Bankai (volitile and loud, vs quiet and precise), but Kurotsuchi had the skills to modify his bankai to more effectively match his ideals. I wonder if Soi Fon were to call her bankai by a false name, if it would take a fragmentary form that better suited her ideals (like Yumichika's shikai). Perhaps a stinger-finger that doesn't explode but could still be fired off as a projectile? We know Renji's bankai initially gave him a false name, so he's been unintentionally calling his bankai by a false name as opposed to Yumichika intentionally calling his shikai by a false name. Same basic concept, but proof it can be intentional or unintentional, and shikai or bankai.

Be your own God” This is a milestone as the 400th episode of the series and what better way to celebrate it by focusing on none other than the mad scientist born to be a villain but forced to be a corrupted official & MVP of this War: Mayuri Kurotsuchi Kubo’s favorite character (as he’s always being one step ahead even when it doesn’t seem like it on the surface in poetic fashion) and a callback to Ep 44 when we saw the reveal of the 1st Bankai, now reborn into variant version- The Altered/Modified Bankai: Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō: Matai Fukuin Shōtai (Golden Leg-Cutting: Demonic Womb Covering Seal Symptomatic Body/Demonic Recumbent Womb) This takes the form of an enormous, heavyset, purple-skinned baby dressed in a golden loincloth and with golden fabric covering its pectorals. It has a misshapen head with completely white eyes, and its belly has a large vertical incision line in the center, on either side of which are the two parts forming the kanji for "Prostrate/Bend Down" The baby rests on a large pile of thick, visibly veined umbilical cords from which 2 branches grow on either side of the baby's head, each holding up a dangling, box-shaped lantern. In addition, a purple mist seeps along the ground that resembles the poison released by the Bankai's normal form. It can create modified versions of Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō (Surface Nerves) with the information and data Mayuri sends to it; this allows it to counter specific abilities of Mayuri's opponents. This modified Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō also shines with a golden light. The 70,000 layers of skin can also be a metaphor for Bleach’s foreshadowing with. As for Pernida that’s revealed to be the Soul Kings left arm: It’s holy shrift is ‘C’ which stands for the ability ‘The Compulsory’ It can send his own nerves into the enemy's body and forcibly control their movements. Pernida's holy shrift was not a power given to him by Yhwach, but was chosen based on an ability that Pernida originally possessed.

Mayuri versus Pernida is one of my favorite fights in the series for the sheer absurdity of it alone. Mr. DeusEx Kurotsuchi fighting the giant severed arm of a god was not something I expected to see when reading the manga back in the day, but I absolutely loved it.
Right?! I also like how he used his scientific skills to modify his Bankai into something that can adapt to different situations. It reminds me of the adaptability inherent in Kisuke's bankai, perhaps reflecting the 'rival scientist' relationship he has with him. Kurotsuchi is sadistic and gross by nature, and his zanpakutou reflects that. But he went beyond that to become a 'true scientist', forcing his zanpakutou to fit his ideals (as opposed to Soi Fon's true nature not matching her ideals, as reflected in her bankai).
10:37 In the Yhwach and Ichibe flashback Yhwach grabs Ichibe's left arm and absorbs the left arm of the soul king (pernida), but Ichibe locks away Yhwach's Almighty in return, saying that Yhwach's almighty will never again awaken as long as he lives, and technically "Yhwach" died when he was renamed to "black ant", hence him regaining his powers.
One nice detail they put into the ending of this episode in particular is that now Pernida is out of the cloak and you can see his true form. Every other one up till now only has him in the cloak but now that he's been revealed they show his true form
Just a note, people got it wrong...that circle scope was Lillio the Royal Guard sniper was going to shoot Renji but Uryuu shot him first with the arrow. If you look at the beginning of this week's episode, Lillio is looking at the aftermath as if he didn't trust Uryuu.
Man talk about having so many banger episodes in November, this was such a great way to end my birthday with a fire ass battle between Mayuri vs Pernida 100% 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Mayuri is defo an example of born a villian, forced to be a hero...
To be honest, although Kenpachi is a sweet-tempered person, he is really not the kind of reckless man who has no brains. Because if you look back at his past, you will find that he is actually very rough but also subtle: the battle against Tosen in his early years was definitely an outsmart win. This was his tactical acumen. and after that when he saw Ichigo trying to chase down his enemies, he stopped him and advised him to return to the his world to protect his home. This is his character pattern. Even the reason why he rushed to kill C for the second time in this episode was for tactical reasons: he wanted to kill it quickly before its power expanded. His idea was the same as Nimaiya Oetsu's when he singled out the Royal Guards: a quick victory, but it was a pity that his current strength was not enough this time. I just want to say that he is always using his brain when fighting, but this time he encountered a different enemy,Kenpachi was defeated by C, just like Superman was defeated by Magic. This is the result of attribute restraint, and it does not mean that Kenpachi or Superman are weaker than them. So I hope that in the fourth season, Kenpachi's bankai will have surprise changes from Kubo, so that he can finally live up to the trust of Unohana.
I understand what you’re saying, but Kenpachi loosing means he is weaker. Him being stronger agaisnt more characters does not take away he lost to C. At that moment, he was weaker and you’re doing too much brain gymnastics to get away from that. Brain power, raw power, tactics, strategies M, everything is part of the potential of the character and determines their strength.
it is fascinating that a scientist is facing the left arm of "advancement" since science is always advancing too, making this fight a really unique fight where Mayuri is advancing his scientific skills to defeat the arm of advancement!! Tite Kubo is a genius!

You’re the first one I saw actually react to the mid episode info cards. That was so stupid that they showed mayuri using hirenkyaku there right before he actually uses it in the episode. So they’ve actually moved events around in the anime from the manga. I won’t say what happens but in the manga some other stuff happens before this fight. And the next episode again seems to have things moved around. Interesting choice. Pernida has broly’s voice actor which is unexpected. So we got freeza vs broly. Also this is a weird thing for the anime but unlike the manga they don’t show the name of the schrifts when they introduce the characters. In the manga we found out the names of their schrifts first time we ever saw them. Just in case I won’t say the names of the other ones but pernida’s is C - the compulsory. Also fan subs back in the day used to translate all the technique names. Nowadays even the official ones don’t do it. Mayuri’s new bankai translated to demon recumbent womb. It’s a pregnant demon that’s leaning back.
mayuri the mad scientist, in the moment she the hand out the suit i new that is the left hand that explain why he is powerfull, i love the mayuri desing you can see the bllue hair and everything, looks epic, i think the left hand of the spiritual king have the same voice actor from broly in the last movie
Oh it's nowhere NEAR over. One of the best fights in all of bleach coming up. Practically unanimously agreed upon by bleach fans that finished the manga
Ichibei did have the Soul Kings Left Arm during that flashback, but over the course of that encounter it was transfered to Yhwack in order to seal his 'eyes' ("The Almighty"). As this was also the time he decided to wage war on the Soul Society, he didn't have "The Almighty" during the first war (which likely is what allowed Yamamoto to kill him). I am not sure if Yhwack released Pernida prior to being defeated by Yamamoto, or if it became an independent being afterwards. It seems that on one of the japanese text panels between scenes, it explains that its Schrift was not granted by Yhwack but was something it naturally had as the Soul Kings Left Arm.

Fun fact. In the manga, in the chapter where Mayuri activates fear level 4, there is a brief sketch at the end of the chapter that shows Hanataro paralized because he heard it for more than 4 seconds 😂
People don't understand that ichibe flashback, he said to yhwach " Do you think you can have the Right arm for free" meaning Yhawch took it, but the consequences was having his eye sealed. Ichibe rigged the left arm.
Remember what we learned when Ichigo got his bankai reforged? "The blade is me" is quite litteral. Mayuri is extremely adept at altering himself, as shown when he performed self surgery. It makes total sense that his bankai could also be altered.
This the kind of anime quality that can keep you revisiting for years , i cant remember any other anime in the past like 10 plus years personally on this level ... I mean bleach always had the designs but the animation and fight sequence quality they're bringing bringing it to a whole other level best anime of the century **** masterpiece

What ichibe did with yuuha back then is like a forced trade/equivalent exchange. He gave yuuha The left arm to take away his allmighty. it could also be interpreted as ichibe Giving yuuha the arm and the arm supressed yuuha's allmighty as it is a part of the soul king.
Pernidas's schrift is The Compulsory. It relates to evolution, so it is perfectly fitting for the hand that controls progress because that's what evolution is. This is why I really wanted a Ukitake vs. Pernida fight-right arm vs. left arm-but it was sadly not to be.

I understand what you’re saying, but Kenpachi loosing means he is weaker. Him being stronger agaisnt more characters does not take away he lost to C. At that moment, he was weaker and you’re doing too much brain gymnastics to get away from that. Brain power, raw power, tactics, strategies M, everything is part of the potential of the character and determines their strength.

You’re the first one I saw actually react to the mid episode info cards. That was so stupid that they showed mayuri using hirenkyaku there right before he actually uses it in the episode.
So they’ve actually moved events around in the anime from the manga. I won’t say what happens but in the manga some other stuff happens before this fight. And the next episode again seems to have things moved around. Interesting choice.
Pernida has broly’s voice actor which is unexpected. So we got freeza vs broly. Also this is a weird thing for the anime but unlike the manga they don’t show the name of the schrifts when they introduce the characters. In the manga we found out the names of their schrifts first time we ever saw them. Just in case I won’t say the names of the other ones but pernida’s is C - the compulsory.
Also fan subs back in the day used to translate all the technique names. Nowadays even the official ones don’t do it. Mayuri’s new bankai translated to demon recumbent womb. It’s a pregnant demon that’s leaning back.

Ichibei did have the Soul Kings Left Arm during that flashback, but over the course of that encounter it was transfered to Yhwack in order to seal his 'eyes' ("The Almighty").
As this was also the time he decided to wage war on the Soul Society, he didn't have "The Almighty" during the first war (which likely is what allowed Yamamoto to kill him).
I am not sure if Yhwack released Pernida prior to being defeated by Yamamoto, or if it became an independent being afterwards.
It seems that on one of the japanese text panels between scenes, it explains that its Schrift was not granted by Yhwack but was something it naturally had as the Soul Kings Left Arm.

People don't understand that ichibe flashback, he said to yhwach " Do you think you can have the Right arm for free" meaning Yhawch took it, but the consequences was having his eye sealed. Ichibe rigged the left arm.
Remember what we learned when Ichigo got his bankai reforged? "The blade is me" is quite litteral.
Mayuri is extremely adept at altering himself, as shown when he performed self surgery. It makes total sense that his bankai could also be altered.
