This is a perfect scene. Fletcher finally learns from his awful mistakes and is now a loving and caring father/husband. Also, Jerry is such a kind hearted soul.

But in their own right both are great guys Jerry probably much more sauve and kind hearted ...Fletcher wilder and with dormant sensibilities that were finally awakened by the shocking news of Max locating to Boston.... but both are good ..Jerry is graceful in quietly accepting the fact that probably he has to loose his love interest as Max and Audrey are better off not following him to Boston..that's greatness of his character.suave & humane. I love that Audrey and Fletcher got back together in the end. It shows that forgiveness and redemption are fully possible, and that love really can overcome some huge obstacles. Jerry realized he wasn't the one for Audrey when she didn't reciprocate his love confession on the plane. Throughout the movie, they made it clear she was much more comfortable with Fletcher than with Jerry.
@@Kaboomboo Totally agree. That's one of the reasons why, unlike "Liar Liar", "Mrs Doubtfire" is an amazing movie about a divorced family with an amazing ending: the original one was supposed to show the Hillards getting back together; but Sally Field and Robin Williams decided not to shoot such a non-realistic ending, and to give the audience a much stronger, truer and deeper message of love from parents to children, even in case of a divorce; if there is this kind of love and this sincere strong bond, family will always keep existing, whatever happens, even if parents won't be together anymore as a couple.
Two things, Jerry is a hero in this scene, what a selfless choice. Secondly, props to the director for finding someone to play Jerry who is funny in his own right and in a completely different way than Jim Carrey.
Fun fact the original ending Fletcher was supposed to be arrested an a year later Max and Audrey were showing visiting him in jail and he promised not to lie to Max anymore But a test screen audience didn't like it so they reshot the ending
Not gonna lie, I cry when Fletcher is talking to Max about how much he loves him. Jim Carrey was so convincing as a father here that it's like my own dad is talking. It's therapeutic.
Apparently, the studio that produced Mrs. Doubtfire wanted Daniel and Miranda to get back together at the end, but Robin Williams and Sally Field refused to play it that way, because they wanted the ending to be more realistic. However, I can get behind Fletcher and Audrey getting back together again, because they never fell out of love, and Audrey can see that Fletcher truly learned his lesson.
Yup yup 👍 Im pretty sure only reason they divorced in the first place was cause fletcher favored work and obessesively lied way too much, but now he dont care about work and sticks to his guns on not lying this ending works out better then original. :)
That makes a lot more sense in mrs doubtfire because it wasn’t out to prove that they still loved each other it was proving he could be a responsible adult and parent.
Wow, what a caring, selfless gentleman Jerry was. 😮 ...He also sensed that she didn't truly love him and was more or less escaping the constant disappointments of her ex-husband to provide her son with a reliable father figure. Either way, what a fair, considerate, (emotionally) intelligent man.
