Hey Koop there's this new Mario game coming out this year called Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, not sure if you've heard of it. Seems like you're kinda game - might want to check it out!
I had to process how guards were reducing damage from 1 to 0 during the same attack. Guess Doopliss using Multibonk has the damage degrade over time unlike Goombella in Chapter 4.
I find this always impressive how far you can actually push yourself in this game with so little resources available and only relying on pre-emptive knowledge of enemie-behaviour. Especially without Superguarding, but then again, a lot of strength is gained outside the leveling and badge-system itself. (Not undermining the challenge ofc.) Makes me wonder what the actual minimal resources are for a particular boss to be taken down with, if we included Upgradables and Ranks for the partners (altho for the former it would require sequence-breaking or cheating so eh). I'm aware some similar examples can be found on this channel, tho. Same for enemie-patterns; how much would the Player-Boss Interactions actually change if enemies were allowed to have fully randomized (as opposed to pattern-based/plannable) fights? And how would optimal strategies differ? I assume they become more glorified to specific cheese-strats, but what do I know. (And for context, moves based on HP would be available from the start in cases like Rawk Hawk) Could be interesting to explore if possible, but eh.
I’ve had TTYD since around 2010 and my brother just beat it in 3 days and he let me beat the shadow queen but wanted to beat her himself so he didn’t let me save after. I used hella items 😂
TTYD Bosses: "Ha! You didn't level up! How do you plan to beat us?" Mario: "Danger strats. Also, my attack depends on my equipment, not my level." Bosses: "Oh fu-"
This is a late reply, but i keep seeing you say "badge name" and level 1 or in shadow queen case, level 4. Does that mean you equipped 4 copies of the same badge?
No... level refers to Mario's stats. Level 1 is 10 HP, 5 FP, 3 BP. Badges cost BP to use, and when you level up you can upgrade BP (or HP, FP), allowing you to equip more badges. For example Level 2 is 10 HP, 5 FP, 6 BP and Level 4 is 10 HP, 5 FP, 12 BP.
I can't believe we're finally in TTYD's 20th anniversary year.
Which is perfect timing for the remake to come out! 👌
I actually feel second hand embarrassment for Cortez after seeing his segment 💀
I gave him a huge advantage, equipping Double Pain and jumping on his bone pile, and he still managed to embarrass himself
I like how he goes through each phase change and doesn't get to even throw a punch.

All the boss themes in this game are such a jam.
the ground pound at 17:14 sounds dope with the music
Koop is definitely the modern-day shadowkirby2007.

another koop banger to start off the new year right
I'm pretty sure that every single fight was perfect damage
very cool
Happy New Year Koop.
This playthrough must've been hella fun
Good stuff!

Great video! Though i wish the text stayed on screen a bit longer. Can't read that fast
Yoshi obliterated Grubba😂
Goombella really pulls her weight... best girl.
@24:42 my memory is slightly fuzzy but, the bite attack can be guarded if i recall. Actually i could swear i saw someone super guard it.
Not possible
@@Koopatrol ah.
How do you know when the Shke Sprites load up during the final boss?
You need to complete three successful action commands
15:15 dang. 18 damage. That’s a good amount.
Now that's a lotta damage!
Runny that the remake runs at 30fps instead of 60, at least it appears to from the footage
@@dimitrinowell7188He wasn’t complaining over it (although it is a lame change). He was just pointing it out.
Wait, this ISN’T how you’re supposed to kill bosses?
I just dont really use items in general not gonna lie
TTYD Bosses: "Ha! You didn't level up! How do you plan to beat us?"
Mario: "Danger strats. Also, my attack depends on my equipment, not my level."
Bosses: "Oh fu-"
I find it unlikely that gloomtail cannot be done at level 0. Is there some hyper specific edge case rng scenario I'm not considering?
Goombella can get multibonk before hooktail!?
You get 4 Shine Sprites in Chapter 1
@@Koopatrol oh wow, didn’t even occur to me
Did you know that Bowser and Kammy are actually susceptible to Showstopper?
I know everything

@@KoopatrolI wasnt certain cause i was getting so confused. Thanks for the reply.
