Großartig, ich selbst beschäftige mich mit Gameboys und aktuell auch PS5 Controllern und musste da auch schon einiges "Lehrgeld zahlen" aber gerade das finde ich auch an deinem Video so gut, weil Fehlschläge, Pleiten, Pech und Pannen genau so dazu gehören und Teil des Lernprozesses sind, wie etwas gelungen und funktionierend fertig zu stellen. Daumen hoch dafür 👍🏻

Good job on this one! Just a quick note about the tape for protecting plastic components: Kapton tape itself is heat resistant, but it will not protect components under it from heat (e.g. the tape will not deform with heat, but components under it will still desolder). I learned this the hard way when I peeled back a piece and about 20 SMD components went with it... You were correct in using aluminum tape later, and PTFE Fiberglass tape also works. Another option is to use thermal pads or little plates of copper as heatsinks :D
Hi! Thanks for the notes! You are right, the aluminium tape is much better for spreading the heat. I do have some coins lying around for the same purpose, but usually they are just too clunky! 😆
Great videos 1 & 2 just watched both. Preparing to go into surgery on a usb port. Will not charge/update via usb but will from docking station. Now unusable without update.
Thank you! Ensure you get an original connector from a genuine source, as mentioned in many comments here.

Your port is still the issue, there are many ports for the ps5 controller that are sold that are incompatible, even if they fit and have the same pin layout etc.
We had a similar issue when first doing the ports on these controllers, and confirmed that some ports just don’t work.
There are only two brands that we know of that work, you could confirm this by using an original port pulled from another board.
Of course, you’ll need to reball your main chip and sort that out, but replace your port again with a pulled original port, or I can help you find some compatible ones if needed!

It is really bizarre that special ports are needed in this case. I would never have thought of that. Is there any way to check the replacement port to confirm that it is a compatible one? As you mentioned, it is easy to find a dozen sellers on eBay selling replacement ports for the ps5 controller. But mine was obviously not compatible. 😔
That is very intressting. But how can a port with only pins of metal make the diffrenc when the pinout is the same? There is no Electronic logic in the ports. I dont understand that.

good video as always. I feel so with you. I know the thing with the plastic connectors too well. but the video gave me a few tips on how to start with my controller. I wouldn't change the main chip though. I don't have the equipment for that. but measuring the capacitors etc. will i test. go on ;) and the wide lens is still nice.

@CanWeFixThat yes, the USB port had a loose connection. So I changed the USB port, that's well done, also my skills aren't even bad XD, but when I plug in a USB cable it doesn't charge. Now I'm going to measure some of the clues from the video and see if there's anything wrong.

I haven't checked, but I think you used too big balls, I worked with CXD90061GG and it uses 0.45 balls, so they are probably the best option there. At the beginning, you marked the batteries with F and G, so you tested with a broken 2:02 and again at 8:08 and again at 25:35 or am I doing something wrong.
Hi! You're right, the balls were definitely too big. I haven't done much reballing, to be honest. 😄 The battery isn't the issue; it seems like Sony uses special USB-C connectors with a modified pin-out, which I guess leads to the controller not functioning.
Hey, I went through a huge headache trying to do a similar repair, and it ended up being the pinout of the USB connector. The pinout of the DualSense is custom despite being the same size as the standard connector. A compatible replacement is the JAE Electronics DX07S016JA1R1500.
Hi! Good to know that it is really very possible that most of the issues are just the wrong connector. This is really insane! But getting the mentioned model in low quantities seems very hard without paying a fortune! 😩

I have more than 10 remote controlers that wait for this connector. All aliexpress and ebay have standard port.
Did you try to connect to PC? Make update to the rc via cable? Work just fine?
@@samirzarour8562 Unfortunatley I can't give a link since it autodeletes, but yes it works for data connection to the PC and everything. Check Digi-Key, Mouser, Octopart, etc.

there are incompatible ports being sold all over the place i tried so many non works
i don't know in which hole did they manufacture this port i cant find the exact same socket unfortunately the only solution is to take it from donor board
the USB type-c port on my dualsense seems causing a short circuit. when I connect the controller to my pc, the port gets really hot. is this type of problem fixable by soldering a new USB-C port ?
the controller works fine when turned on wirelessly tho. it works perfectly with bluetooth, but my pc doesn't have bluetooth :(
Hi! You can replace the port, but when you scroll to the comments here, you will quickly realize that you need a particular port. You can get them from mouser, digikey etc.
To resolve this issue, you could upgrade your computer with a USB Bluetooth dongle.
@@CanWeFixThat I saw some people on ebay selling replacement USB c ports pretending that they are identical to the original, do you think it's safe to buy one as they are pretty cheap compared to the ones you mentioned ?
@fwocl I won't trust them. I bought a compatible port from eBay, and it was clearly a generic one that had not worked out. It is really a shame that finding a real replacement port for the ps5 controller is that difficult. 😩
hey, i don't know if anyone can help me, but my dualsense doesn't charge, it works fine via usb c, however if i connect it to the pc and open a software like dualsenseX, it tells me error reading battery or temperature too high, has anyone had a similar problem?

I know the problem had the same as you broken port but i fixed mine and you know how? These oem or so called original port replacements are faulty try using a donor board replacement and i guarantee you will succeed. original port is called _mitsumi_ i couldn't find it anywhere online if anybody can find this port please leave a link for me thank you.
Yeah, I already learned that the hard way; I would also be interested if someone would have a purchase link for lower quantities.

Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to get one. I have not found any supplier, at least not inside the EU, who sells them in smaller quantities. If someone knows a good source, I would be happy to know about it.

I had the same issue, replaced usb port, got tired of not chargin with new port so i bought a chargin base lol now i can charge it with the bottom part of the controller XD
