For added realism while texturing - think of the story of the gun. You'd want to think what places would receive most damage, what kind of damage and why. For an example the paint should be worn off areas where the owner touches the gun most such as the grip, a spot where the finger is placed for safety, the cocking grip pattern, area around the trigger etc. For edge wear it would be mostly places where the gun has most friction and impact such as the barrel's lowest point, hammer's point of impact, hammer's spring area etc. As for grips, the areas where pins are placed should've been inset a little. The weird wrench-shaped piece between the trigger and the grip is just the other end of the mag release button. It should've been on level with the gun, but in your texture it is heavily inset and the bevels are too intense. The cocking grip goes too high, it typically ends right as the straight face of the slide begins to curve and you could've definitely tried to give it a saw-tooth insetting with the normals. The ejection port is too close to the main surface, it should be much deeper inside. The very ejection port should have rounded corners and the top edge of it doesn't reach the center axis of the slide. It ends at about 5mm from the center axis on the real guns. The trigger guard is too thick and it should have slightly elliptical shape instead of rectangular. More precisely flat on the inside, elliptical on the outside. The metal materials should've gained a bit more gloss and much darker paint. And finally the barrel should've went deeper inside the gun because it's a bit distracting how it ends visibly and is just a solid black color. I did enjoy the video and it definitely inspired me to model some of mine (I have a Browning Hi-Power, the European equivalent of M1911). I also liked your topology, it's clean and has a great flow!

This is really cool! I'd love to see the same kind of speed modeling at x25 speed, just so I could see the changes a bit better.
Certainly

A lot of great tips, I'll make sure to use them. Thanks for the feedback!
Not bad, would love to see more!
Beautiful work man
Thank you!

How did you learn how to UV Unwrap? the unwrap looks pretty clean
I just followed some youtube tutorials, then practiced regularly on some of my old models.
@@Black_Iced is there any specific ones you could recommend? i'm struggling to understand the concept of where to put the seams and such
@@luckyboy5nu The ones by Josh Gambrel and On Mars 3D helped me the most
Is it for pax americana?
