I can't be the only one who would RUN to by a book by Aly on all the body types. Her videos are so priceless and we're lucky to get a chance to see her in action. Imagine being able to study all the body types and their features in pictures with a black background (like the videos!) in a coffee table-like book. I'm sure it would become a educational pillar in the make up industry, and she would make it as amazing as everything else she does.
I read in one of my grandmother’s old magazines Sophia Loren saying she studied her face and knew the right makeup for it and she always would do her own makeup that’s why there seems to be no mishaps for her. You make it easier to understand the different types. 💜 Thank you for doing each type I look forward to seeing the rest.
The day I first did the elongated liquid liner on my eyes was the day I stopped feeling ugly for real. I feel like it changes my entire face. When my eyes are done this way I feel that my nose looks smaller and my lips look cute and more upturned. And of course it makes my hooded eyes look more defined and bigger. Sofia Loren has now become my makeup inspiration.
I have noticed that my face never seems to look complete without winged eyeliner. I dont even do it that often but it makes the biggest difference out of all makeup..no wings just looks wrong
My soft dramatic make up tip is taking my wing liner or shadow out from my bottom lash line rather then my top one, or connecting the two in a point like Sophia Loren.
Yup! For some reason I look horrible with soft makeup. It makes me look unfinished and tbh very tired. But “dramatic” makeup makes me look fresh as a daisy 😂
Agree! I am SD and can literally rock a full Smokey cat eye to work and no one thinks I look overdone, but if my gamine coworker did it people would be like “where u going today?” Lol we can really pull off super glam and high fashion but casual tees and sweats aren’t our best look lol
So weird! I’m a soft dramatic and I’ve always weirdly found that I can wear a LOT of blush and I never knew why! I tried doing natural cheeks but I didn’t think it looked as good as heavy bright blush! 😩 now I know, thank you for all your videos!!! They’re the best
I agree. She's constantly called a Romantic just because she is plus sized, but when you look at her facial bones you can tell she has some yang in her bones. Especially her chin.
Thank you Aly, you have reassured me I'm not weird in this heavy makeup situation. I've always wondered why can I pull off such bold makeup looks that I usually wear (even in the daytime, I'm used to colourful smokey eyes, contouring, bold eyeliner, lipstick, you know the drill). I've always felt so naked, so unfinished, so *unsupported* with minimalistic makeup or "no makeup-makeup looks" - I have never achieved elegance with minimalism or cuteness. Recently, I found out I'm an SD, and everything makes sense now! I feel so recognized and empowered! Thank you once again for making this content, you are a true guru and I wish you all the best
If I'm unsure whether someone is a SD or SN, I often ask myself: would red lipstick suit this person's face? My sister is a SN and strong lip colour does nothing for her, but she can pull off the kind of more subtle, natural makeup in which I (a SD) look bland. Of course, everyone is free to wear what they want so I'm not being dogmatic here, but I've found from personal experience that if you're looking at a tall(ish) woman and you instinctively feel that she would look great in a red lip, chances are she's a SD.
Thank you so much for this comment! I was unsure if I am SN or SD since I am on the taller side, but red lipstick usually makes me look like an old man 😅 softer blended makeup is way better on me. Thanks so much!
While I agree that SDs look better with bold lip colors, it also depends on the person’s coloring. I feel like I look better with red lips when my features have higher contrast, like my dark hair and pale skin in my pfp. When my hair is lighter and my skin is tanner red lips don’t look right. It’s almost like I can pull off SD or SN depending on what kind of look I’m going for.
'Reverse triangle' sounds like you could be some sort of natural as naturals tend to have broader shoulders, but browse through the videos of Aly Art and Merriam Style to be sure - their videos have lots of pictures of the different types that you can compare yourself to
This def confirmed that I’m a SD. The top black liner is my life💗 Doesn’t have to be crazy thick just with a nice flick. A shimmer highlight on the lower lashes can b great too. Ty for showing other SD’s I can get style ideas from💗 Ur top is so gorgeous btw-I love those sleeves!!!!💗💗
Same here. I have large, deep set eyes with hooded lids but have found I have to stay away from medium to dark eye shadows, they are far too heavy for my features and I look tired. These are just broad guidelines.
I do too! Try to focus on the outer corners, and you can achieve the eyeliner trick by creating a V shape on the outer part of your lid (joining the crease) so that it would look like a straight line even though it's not 😉 Also I always thought eyeliner on my bottom lash line would drag down my droopy eyes but actually, it makes them look like a sexy yet fancy cat so maybe try that as well!
What works for me is doing my wing going straight out towards my ear instead of trying to get it to go up towards my temples. I use a brush and a black or brown shadow instead of liner. Sort of a cleopatra vibe ! The lower line will give you the illusion of more lid space. I also do that same flick of shadow on the inner corner down towards my nose ! 👁
Finally Soft Dramatic 😁 I do my make up similar way, I like blended eyeshadows and dark line near lashes 😉 dark lips look good at me, but I'm not used to wear lipstick 😂 maybe I'll try to use lipstick more often 😉
I've been eagerly anticipating this one, good tips! :-) Based on my own experience with makeup as an SD, the most important thing is, as you said, to always accentuate the lash line, even in the most minimal makeup look, and to always elongate it. Many modern makeup looks are very ingenue, and I think many of us fall into the trap of constantly trying to imitate those fresh-faced looks that look very elegant and dreamy on romantic body types, but are not at all flattering on us, and they seem to always create an unattractive, dissatisfying effect, as if we're taking on less than we can handle. However, I find that liquid liner tends to be too sharp and too harsh, unless it's blended with an eyeshadow.
@@milica8979 me too! I've always wondered why it looks too sharp without blending on my face, and if i try to do a "no make up make up" it looks undone
Love this one the best. Took me awhile to realize I was SD but I have always done this makeup. Maybe not such a flick on the eyeliner as my eyes are naturally round but always lots of liner, mascara and definitely sparkle, esp a touch of frosted gold lip gloss. Thanks for articulating what I was intuitively doing. I knew that natural look just made me look old and tired!
Thank you, Aly, for showing me how I can have a big impact with minimal effort if I know where to focus. I usually don't wear makeup (although I love it!), except on the weekends. I work on my skin and have pretty even, clear skin tone/texture, except for some pinkness due to mild rosacea. Today, I did my brows, put a couple coats of mascara on the top lashes only, and did some cheek contouring "a la Aly" with a light, non shimmering bronzer. This afternoon someone said to me, "You look amazing! Your makeup is flawless, what did you do?" When I told her it was just 3 products her jaw hit the floor.
Yes!!! Finally 🤗 you're a legend Aly, I am a SD and I agree with everything, I intuitivelly did them already + I understand the Kibbe sistem. The shimmer, elongated eyes, precise eyebrows, It's all true! BUT - for me elongating the eyes on the inner corner doesn't work, it looks stupid and not pretty because it makes your eyes look more close together and my eyes already are too close. When I do just the outer elongation it looks very balanced and pretty. Much love💕💕💕

I was struggling between soft dramatic and dramatic classic, but after doing my makeup in both styles, I must be a soft dramatic because I look much better in the soft dramatic style makeup. I looked so bad in the dramatic classic style.
I've been doing the unblended lower lash line recently, and I love it! It helps me get the wing right and makes my eyes crazy bright! I use dark burgundy or grey colors and sometimes black. Definitely compliments soft dramatics. I will definitely try the Sophia Loren look.

I love this style, I’m a soft dramatic. I normally wear purple/pink shades my darker color is brown chocolate with natural pink lips. If I feel more bolder I will use a darker pink lol with bold short earrings of course
So happy for the SD one! I never felt like I look good in winged liner though, and I'm not sure if it's because my colouring is very fair or because my eyes are already very round and upturned...
If your eyes are upturned, you could do a straighter wing and it would likely have the same effect. Also, try lining your upper waterline to make your eyes appear more almond shaped!
I love everything about what you do, very particular and explanatory. I think I have established my type - soft dramatic. I would love now to watch a separate video about my type: clothing, accessories, make up, etc. instead of looking for my type in each video. Thank you!
@@catobrien837 Thank you for the insight, I just wasn't sure since I don't look that big or heavy compared to the SD's usually shown even though I still have a hourglass figure. You look great btw, are you a musician?

Soft dramatic appearance looks very close to the average mediterranean appearance. In fact many celebrities with this type of body are from a mediterranean background (greeks, italians, middle-eastern, jewish, spaniards and some latinas with spanish/portuguese heritage). The mediterranean women are fleshy and elongated at the same time. They used to have long and thick eyebrows, volumous hair and full lips like the soft dramatics.
This is amazing. Most of what you did I have been doing most of my life only because that is what looks good on me. I have hooded eyes so the wing has always been difficult to do. I spend more time and money on mascara haha. Smokey eyes used to be my favorite now I just want to have no makeup but I am a SD so don't look good bare. I have had this adult looking face all my life and now I love it because I understand it after you explained it. I'm always excited when I see your soft dramatic videos. Thank you.😊
Excelent vid, darling! Now, I understand why I can use a blackish lipstick at sunrise and people don´t think it´s weird and when I wear a soft color on my face, they think that I am sad, tired or even sick. Oh, this is insane! Great job, Aly! #unailedit100%
Do face/body types agree with each other? I just went over this with my mom. I believe Im Gamine or Soft Gamine, and I was trying to find hers. We concluded it was Soft dramatic, but she is only 4'11 and petite, but her face is very angular!
Thank you so much! I were waiting for that video!)))) Perfect! I figured out when I do my eyes more rounded, it looks more fresh! Though I have hooded eyes. That’s my trick for everyday, try to do it, very helpful to wake up soft dramatic face))) sorry for my English.
Thank you Aly, superb content as always! I enjoyed watching this and I'm glad to realise I've already instinctively incorporating some of these techniques into my makeup routine, so it's always good to remind ourselves to learn our features and figure out what looks best on us, instead of trying to copy someone else's look 😊
YESS!!, thank you! I’ve been waiting for this one and I’m sooo happy you uploaded this because I know nothing about how to do my makeup properly and you honestly give a lot of really good advice! 💙

I have very big, round eyes and I like giving myself the biggest doe eyes. I'll have to try some more elongated eyeliner sometime!
I love this series so much! It's very interesting to see what fits each type and why
Love there are tutorials that for each 14 type.
Yes! I've been waiting for this!
Omg, I have been waiting for this!!! 🥰
Aly, thank you, I'm looking forward on flamboyant natural :). What you are doing here is great.
Me too 😀
Sometimes I'm in doubt of whether I really am a SN because I'm taller than the typical SN and because some SD looks suit me well, esp hairstyles
there needs to be a new catagory for us tall SNs!
love you Aly.. you are a great artist
I adore that "more volume" moment 😂💕
This is amazing. Most of what you did I have been doing most of my life only because that is what looks good on me. I have hooded eyes so the wing has always been difficult to do. I spend more time and money on mascara haha. Smokey eyes used to be my favorite now I just want to have no makeup but I am a SD so don't look good bare. I have had this adult looking face all my life and now I love it because I understand it after you explained it. I'm always excited when I see your soft dramatic videos. Thank you.😊
this is so accurate, complete, useful !
I am so in love with your channel....these old classy vibes make me happy 😍
This makeup suits you SO well! It looks even better on you than the gamine makeup... :)
Thank you so much!!! Amazing work 👏🏾
Love the video! You're awesome at this 💜 I have the strong nose but not the soft body. I have really long legs and am "skinny" 😜
Janelle 09 maybe you’re dramatic type then!
@@catobrien837 I did the test thing but didnt write down my answers LOL I may have to do it again 😂
So excited for theatrical romantic!
I can't wait for flamboyant natural.
I’ve been waiting for this 😊😊😊
Excelent vid, darling! Now, I understand why I can use a blackish lipstick at sunrise and people don´t think it´s weird and when I wear a soft color on my face, they think that I am sad, tired or even sick. Oh, this is insane! Great job, Aly! #unailedit100%
Thank you for this wonderful video!
Oh i‘m a SD who knows nothing of Makeup but I was instinctively doing a lot of this :D
I love it :)
Hooded eyes will have me skipping the top liner. Maybe I could try a bit of brown shadow :)
Thanks Xx
I am a SD and this works so good for me! Thanks a lot
I do think you could have gone smokier and more dramatic on the eyes. Soft dramatics can truly pull off an insane amount of glamour and drama
Can you do Soft Classic next?!
YESS!!, thank you! I’ve been waiting for this one and I’m sooo happy you uploaded this because I know nothing about how to do my makeup properly and you honestly give a lot of really good advice! 💙
i love your video's. you cut right to the chase. thanks again.
This was AMAZING
I loved it
I think I am a soft dramatic underweight
I loved the video!!
