How many times do you need reminding, the guys had the chance to let her go when she gave them years of notice - yet they choose to let her stay only to plot a spectacle behind her back and lie to her face every day for 9 months, and to the public, and throw in half-truths, lies and smears - all of that could have been avoided if the guys had balls enough to just sit and talk like sane adults. The fact that you defend their disgusting behaviour just exposes you for the hater you are.
Regardless of who was at fault, I think the split was the best thing for both Tarja and Nightwish. They were holding each other back creatively, and it shows with her solo albums and in Dark Passion Play. Say what you want about Anette, but that album had the best songwriting and production of any Nightwish album up to that point. It had to be the best, because they knew they would lose too many fans if it wasn't.

My father's favorite orchestral piece was Boléro. Sadly, he passed a few months before I discovered Tarja and never got a chance to hear Victim of Ritual. I think he would have loved it, and every time I hear it, I think of him.

It is one of the most beautiful symphonic rock ballads I have ever heard. Warms the heart. There is a good live performance recorded on the DVD Act I, but I prefer the studio version of that song. The studio version has nuances that I find most beautiful, especially the piano. Big hug!

They sound GREAT together🤘 It's not alvvays easy for Tarja, much to her style and also POWER, but she alvvays get's so much energy out of collabs 💞
@Big Bill O'Reilly I agree her style has become more mixed as she actually followed through after the Sibelius Academy at German school(s). And I love the duets and even more love seeing how much she loves to do them. But when both sing the same notes, you can notice her power can be overwhelming for the other and not because she wants to show off, she never does that, it's just her natural voice strength. As such the sound technician really has to work hard to level it as not all live performances have been rehearsed before. Especially at festivals where the fun comes from the spontaneity.
@Big Bill O'Reilly might be a misunderstanding here; with 'mixed' I meant mixed vocal technique, not mixed as 'half baked' or 'technically mixed sound' All I said meant to be Positive. I'm a huge fan since the early days, please don't get me wrong...
Maybe I expressed myself wrong (English isn't my first language). It's not alvvays easy for Tarja as it's often the other singer who's overwhelmed by her power. When they do perform rehearsals before a show it's fine for both singers + the sound technician. If they spontaneously sing together, like on a festival stage, it's more challenging for both singers, but even more for the sound technicians.
But maybe I simply should've said that it's not easy for the other singer to match Tarja's natural power. And by matching I don't mean to say it's a competition between the two. I just noticed it live myself and on some footage too where they signal the sound tech, or adjust their wireless pack or in the most natural way look each other in the eyes to 'work' together. Just saying how it works on stage as it doesn't make the performance anything less, just better.
@Big Bill O'Reilly 🤗 I think we understand each other and it's maybe my challenge to find the right words. I never meant mixed as something less. I meant it adds to her basic technique to become more indeed. Anyway we both love her voice ❤️

Yes this was an awesome duet.
But as of April 2024 I heard an admittedly not great fan recording of Tarja and Marko singing Silent Masequerade. WOW that was a treat. Quality of the audio not withstanding.
No honest sane person can deny how Tarja and Marko can harmonize seemingly without effort.
Which is a testament of their insane levels of talent and natural chemistry. It takes immense work to make things look effortless!

I love this duet - I think it holds a deep personal attachment to Tarja - The Nightwish guys shamed her for marrying a man of "foreign culture", treading on xenophobic lines and she got so much hate and nasty shit for simply falling in love. She has been married to the same guy for over 16 years, and they have a beautiful daughter together - thus the line:
"No one can tell the games that we play will last forever
No matter we tried, we never got a chance
And also how she never once threw the guys under the bus and instead responded with class and humility, doing her best to hide the deep hurt she was in:
"Leave me as victim of your lies
Salvation cannot help you hide
