We have a 2001 Honda 3000is we bought new that now has 3,100 hours on it (yes, I added an hour meter when we first purchased it) and it is still running smooth and providing all the power we need. We've never had a single problem with it. It mostly travels secured in the bed of my truck (with a Leer shell for cover) and powers our travel trailer when we are boondocking, which we do a lot (we rarely run our AC with it). In the winter, is sits in our detached garage and powers a few lights, the fridge, entertainment center and other odds and ends in our house (via extension cord) in case of a power outage. I have NEVER used fuel stabilizer, opting instead to keep it on a monthly schedule of running it for 10 minutes (I guess we've been lucky). Because of the clean environment it normally operates in (up off the ground and not dusty) I change the oil every 150 hours along with doing other maintenance recommended by Honda. We feel we'll get another 3000 hours out of it at least! It still looks and runs like new!! We love our Honda 3000is!
"You take it apart, of course" So funny! I pulled mine out of the box too and the next day I took it apart... My neighbor was like what the heck? Lol! Glad I'm not the only one who took a screw gun to it!! Love that laugh! Great video and a new subscriber!
For a moment, I thought it was going to go the route of.... " I bet that was fun.. It doesn't matter whether you get 1 volt or 240, you PUT OIL IN IT first...... See this generator has to go back to the lab, and The Doogie has to replace those bearings your fried!"
Nice video , wouldn't it be easier to buy a gen set that is already set up for R.V.s ? Are you going to go out side and pull the choke and turn the key every time you want power ?
max you could pull from that generator is 25 amps at 3000watts and 120 volts how i figured it out www.rapidtables.com/calc/electric/watt-volt-amp-calculator.htm
I'm glad that's not my generator you just took apart
"Like a boner in gym shorts" is my new favourite description for a window A/C unit!

WOW!!! great video! Do you think that generator could handle a 15k btu a/c unit on a travel trailer? Thanks for all your time and effort!!!!!!
Why not mount it on a pull out shelf for maintenance and serviceability. I have on and that’s what I did. 😀
Thanks for the video mate! You the man!
You need a extra long pull cord and a pulley so you can rip on it from the access side of the genny :P
Are you ever going to show us the finished product? I've been waiting for over 2 1/2 years..... please make a video of the completed install. ..thanks
Good helper
Any updates on your generator, awesome video...
I like this guy!!!
Did you take the cover off the generator ?
What's the point of disabling the stock charging circuit and switching over to the other one?
Why doesn't Doogie Rick plug a computer into that?

Doing a pullcord on those things suck bigtime
I noticed my generator has 10 mm acorn nuts
10mm is the nut size/wrench size... the size of the bolt is 6mm.
