If he isn’t rich then everyone is really poor
Yes exactly
Simple mountain folk
I want to remind you. He has an original Picasso painting or his parents do.
Almost like this quiet tiny redneck mountain town didn’t get any traffic for whatever reasons, then was gentrified and even that failed and still is a quiet tiny redneck mountain town with, gasp, poor people. Sure a video about Tolkien being how rich is good, but you gotta remember that if the poorest family in town can’t even feed themselves normal dinners every night, the bar isn’t really that high to be rich
Nope he rich she dumb as fuck u seen his house it even show how many room it has 6 and a game room that 7 n pool indoor some ppl don't know what rich is because they so rich and only be round rich ppl or never be inside rich ppl house then poor ones just the average ones up middle class like she said
Above SIX figures is an achievement??? Above five figures is an achievement, above six and you are literally a millionaire.
6 figures is 100,000-999,999 not a millionaire
@@drew1over So by definition, *above* that is in the millions
@majickman makes sense but usually if I'm talking to people about over 6 figures I mean within the range and above 7 figures I'd say a million but you do make sense
Uhhhh.... millionaire is 7 figures....
Millionaire doesn't mean you have to make a million every year, people
If you're making six figures for multiple years, you are probably already a millionaire based on the fact you already have a net worth of over a million
Two Mormon people named him that.
Why was Kobe's skin lighter than Will Smith?!😂
Yea, don't ask 2 white guys who get their yuck off offending everyone to be ethnicly accurate or inoffensive
Floor Kyle’s dad he may just be a bad lawyer, I mean the only episode I can think of where he got rich was the episode where everyone was suing everybody
Tbh I still consider upper middle class people as “rich”. I understand they’re not technically rich compared to the million and billionaires in the world, but 200k a year (like Token’s family)? Def wealthy. I’d kill to live the lives of the upper middle class.
You are right.
Rich is actually not millionaire and up mid class is rich but not millionaire.
Thing is that ppl are actually used with millionaires now days.. still the guy is rich.
That was 200K in 2001, that's 350K in today's money.
I get what you mean, upper middle doesn't mean "Rich", but if we take into account that they made that much in a very small town in Colorado, they're definitely living a "Rich" standard of life while being nationally upper middle class. They're not commanding any major property, but they're still living good, and from the perspective of kids (Token's peers), he's got the stuff, he's living the high life, he's definitely "rich" from a child's perspective.
No wealthy is your money makes it own money
Cartman:"He's not rich Butters,he's black."
there goes kitty over-analyzing what is likely a subtle early 2000’s joke about jewish people being cheap/frugal 😂
His hobbies are tossing gold coins into the pond.
The guys rich.
I think it’s more likely that Gerald and Sheila are frugal. Gerald is one of the only lawyers in South Park. He made a lot of money from the lawsuits in sexual harassment panda.
i notice that they both dont finance a lot of kyles interest either like how he asked for 20$ for cds that one time and they said no. i think theyre frugal and dont like spending money on fads (like kyles music career)
I think he and his family would be considered upper middle class. Basically, a family that's paid off their mortgage and thus has an extra grand or two to pocket each month.
Tolkien is rich. There's a space between upper middle class and a millionaire. He's upper class rich.
HE'S LITERALLY RICH
Interesting that the episode points out that Cartman hates both poor and rich people
He hates anyone who isn't him.
@@garthdavis4320 Chef, Adolf Hitler, Michael Jackson. None of them were him and Cartman adored them
@@garthdavis4320frankly Cartman hates being poor and hates that he isn't rich but then again that's also count for anyone
Will smith has 3 kids. Just his oldest is from his first marriage. Jada’s not his mom so he wasn’t put in the spot light growing up so no one knows he exists
Correct me if I'm wrong, I heard Trey didn't like the spotlight very much, so that's why he remains on the down low.
@@SmrtPhonRtistCF I’m not 100% sure. That could be true. But what I read was that Trey and Will didn’t really have a relationship until he was 19. I don’t know who his mother (the article did say, I just don’t remember)is or if she is also a star. But like I said, that’s just what I read
@@Amy_Rice Will Smith was in a weird pseudo-polygamous relationship with his mom and Jada Pinkett. All three of them are fairly close but she's not artsy and Jada is but with the kids the mom's genes "carry" apparently that's why the younger two are into weirdness and artsy fartsy stuff.
I'm sorry to inform you Kitty but working class people don't have $2000 tables you can't put a drink on, and in a poor mountain town making more than five figures is rich. Middle class starts around $50-60k/year.
Kitty, back in the day there was a store called k Mart, south park was spoofing them not wal Mart
It's Tolkien you racist.
I'm kidding btw's cant wait.
His name is not Token, I sure hope someone got fired for that blunder.
No- thats the joke XD
GREAT KITTY MONK SOUTHPARK TOKEN BLACK IS NOT RICH.
“There goes the neighborhood” is a slang term use of when upper middle class/ rich families move into lower income neighborhoods/communities which will cause prices to go up so much it’ll be impossible for working/lower class to afford and as a result, for them to move. I hear it more of a southern thing but I could be wrong
That lost tapes vampire episode still keeps me up at night
I still think about the alien bug episode that one always freaks me out
EXCELLENT WORK. KITTY MONK
I thought dvds were a poor people thing or an everybody thing…
The police in South Park frame wealthy black men ? No, Sgt. Yates hasn't came yet. Officer Barbrady is still the only cop in South Park
They try to make anything racist
Here Comes The Neighborhood: Tolkien whining because he has the misfortune of being wealthy. Boo-hoo!
Kenny Dies (the next episode): The poorest kid is dying of a terminal illness.
Get some frogging perspective, Tolkien!
Or maybe just a bunch of racists who are angry that a black person actually has something.
Kenny dies all the time that's his thing.
@@grapeshot He dies for real in that episode though.
And Cartman he's a known racist and probably angry that a black person actually has something in life.
More like racists are whining that a black person has something they feel they shouldn't have, you know money.
Kitty, I’m turning 28 next month.
My first DVD player was a PlayStation 2.
I love that as a sentence but I almost feel like it refers to a concept that may never happen again.
Thoughts?
*hugs from also Jersey*
Yeah, I remember me and my friend we went to the science fair and I didn't see any volcanoes we did our science fair project on penicillin mold.
Don’t you mean Tolkien Black
I kind of agree with Cartman, Tolkien's money allows him to do things that the other kids in class couldn't do. I think the fault lies in the teacher mostly, she should've assigned a task that all kids could feasibly do to the same standard.
Couple things. The check system goes like Plus (no check) = A. Check plus = B, Check = C, Check Minus = D, and Minus (no check) = F
Other thing(s) would be I'd love if you could fit in iCarly reviews cause I just recently did a rewatch and saw the thumb-in-orange episode and agree it was dumb.
Also would love more Bob's Burgers content too, haha! An Analysis of Teddy being both sweet and obnoxious would be fun!
Well can she stop taking everything in cartoons seriously and stop capping when we all know token is in fact rich plenty of episodes to prove it
You’re a gray sprinkle on a rainbow cupcake.
Exactly his mom works for a pharmaceutical company and his dad does consulting work with multiple companies their combined income makes them well above middle upper class ,the poorest family in town is Kenny's as his dad doesn't keep a job and his mom is the one who works, Kyle's family would be next up after the black family as his dad's a successful lawyer he used to be a part of a joint law firm with another lawyer technically the only other black character in the town after chef dies
@byronrush9802 On the episode when Kenny and his siblings had to move into a foster home, Eric Cartman became the poorest kid at South Park Elementary.
@@johnwiesner9590 true Miss Cartman doesn't exactly have a job, she gets paid for sexual favors she doesn't do that now because of COVID, she tried to get a real job Cartman flipped out and made her quit so now they're even poorer than Kenny
He isn't rich, everyone else is just poor.
And stupid.
gosh, south park is relatable. minus the fact everyone isn’t living in apartments
They laugh because he had a DVD and didn't know what a vhs was, what's crazy is most kids today don't even know what a DVD is, or even blue ray... omg I just said kids these days. I'm barely pushing 40 but my heart and soul are late 90s pushing 100.
Just a real quick, J-mart is a parody of K-mart (a chain of supermarkets that died a quiet death sometime in the 2010s but I'm too lazy to look up when). Have fun in Vegas Kitty :)
K-Mart still exists.
@@judeconnor-macintyre9874 Really? Huh haven't seen one in Northern and Middle AZ for a few years. We used to have a few in these areas. Well if that's the case, I'm not afraid to say I'm wrong
@@Luxord5294 AZ is Arizona right?
I'm from Australia where K-Mart is still fairly prominent. So you might be right, K-Mart could be dead in America.
@@judeconnor-macintyre9874 Yeah AZ is shorthand for Arizona
It’s not dead down under, they’re literally everywhere
*Tolkien
Token* punk ass
I remember back in the 2000s when I was growing up where kids automatically thought they were rich because their parents were. Many well off boomer/early generation x parents pissed away their money on things they didn’t need.
It's Tolken. If you ever thought it was Token. YOURE part of the problem
Tolkien
Wrong I never even hear about the guy that wrote the book and in the show they always said token until that one episode show ppl like u the problem thinking you guys always right n better then others u not
I'm middle class. My family doesn't have all the stuff Token has.
Not to be pedantic here, but creating theories for why the Broflovskis might be poor is not being a critic
Being a critic is more pointing out a problem, the plothole that they have been referred as rich before in this case, but if you start trying to answer things that the story doesn't ellaborate on in the episode itself that's doing the writers' work for them
Also... Spanish kid that doesn't speak Portuguese? Most of us can't
I hated the Big Fix episode, not because of Token's name change but because the episode tried to paint JRR Tolkien as some kind of racist.
People NEED to remember that all the things from Middle Earth and D&D ORIGINALLY came from ancient mythology, mostly Norse or Celtic. Elves, Dwarves, Goblins, Orcs...all of those examples are part of the same Nine Realms the Norse people believe in. So, if you decide to call Tolkien or the D&D creative teams racist...maybe you should call our ancestors the same thing
Well I don't care what I call him he's so nice
@@juliettgray62 You mean Token or the author, Tolkien
I mean... yeah I'm sure a lot of them were
@@majickman In ancient times, though; no one understood race the same way WE did.
So, how could racism exist in Viking times
@@SilverScribe85 You don't need a PhD in race theory to see someone who looks different than you and judge them or kill them based on that. The Vikings themselves killed the native people when they settled in North America which obviously wouldn't fly today. Does that mean we need to burn their records and tear down paintings of them? No. We just acknowledge that many people back then did not value the morals that we do today, but that also means we shouldn't defend someone living in modern society for sharing those values.
Now I don't know much of Tolkien's work nor what exactly is cause for criticism in it, and I think elves, orcs, etc. can be done well, but the "oh if he's racist then so were our ancestors" defense is a pretty terrible argument, so I'd recommend using a new one to defend your point in the future.
Nah he's pretty rich we know he's not unfortunate and lives a better life style than most of the kids at South Park elementary
Whats next a video about poor Kenny telling us that he isn't really poor?
Lol Didn't know a Chicken juggler was a job :o
32:19 I really don’t understand your whole “I’m not a furry” thing I mean being a furry is literally just having an interest in anthropomorphic animal characters or an anthropomorphic character, your avatar is quite literally a furry .
With the Will smith thing, they did that to Randy with him being a Karen.
LOST TAPES!!! Kitty Monk omg I 100% feel you on that. I remember being so scared of the Vampire episode, but I was especially terrified of the Thunderbird for far too long bc of that show !! 😂😂
5:40 I remember having that same thought in 7th grade. We were expected to just regurgitate ideas instead of conducting science. I wish an adult could understand my mindset at that time.
im a big fan but this.... you had good intentions but it just reads as a bit tone deaf.
Rich is not millionaire. Token clearly is rich as uper mid class is rich.
his name is tolkien
If you do more than 10k+ per month, you’re rich.
Well, I'm glad they didn't let Garrison finish that word. Honestly, I wish there was more of a video displaying how much of a bigoted weirdo Garrison is
Tolkien is my favorite character along with Stan Kyle Craig Tweek Heather williams Lola and Jenny simons
Tolkien may haven been one of few nicest characters and Yes I'm aware it's hard to spell his name don't judge me
20:08 It's called code switching
Not rich, I would say well to do. Just look at the rich people episode. And compare them to Tolkien. Same goes for the episode rich Hank poor Hank. Shady Doorags compares how a rich kid would be compared to how Bobby is.
T... time to leave 😮
She sounds like she’s trying not to wake up her parents 💀
Pretty alright review, kinda a shame I wasn't much of a fan of this Ep though, but there is some observations.
We see Will Smith and his family, but in a future ep, he wishes that Jaden Smith was his son instead.
We see Tolkien's parents there, but overtime they became a bit more acclimated to the town and everyone there without harassment by the other male characters, also, Token's parents were present in 'Red man's greed', why didn't he front or chipped the money to gamble away in attempt to save SP, its also his hometown too?
Also funny that the characters present derided the rich, and yet made get-rich-quick schemes before and after this ep, especially Garrison with the It, and the attempt to procure $25 million by using his sexuality as a crutch, and Cartman with the church scheme, yet he was a millionaire in Cartmanland and squandered it.
Typo, on the 2nd paragraph, I meant to state, Randy Marsh wishes Jaden was his son than Stan.
Ughhh I feel that mixed race conversation. Didn’t quite fit in with the white kids cause my first language was Spanish so I wasn’t speaking English but I also didn’t fit in with the Hispanic kids because my vocabulary wasn’t quite there either. Growing up I was made to learn more English and lost hold of my Spanish.
For context I didn’t look Hispanic I very much am a clone of my mother with features like large ears and long lashes from my dad 😂😂😂
Then I frickin failed Spanish 101 😅😅😅😅.
It's Tolkien, as in J.R.R. Tolkien. It always was, and if you thought otherwise, YOU are the problem!
Yes without context it sounds hella racist, we have context and we watch South Park, if people got offended over you calling them their last name, call them out, don’t drag the video over (a joke?) so you can explain yourself and say it’s racist, like we didn’t already get it
Did anybody else notice that the pants were the same height as Tolkien? Do poor people get extra long pants because it’s the only pair they ever get because they’re so poor???? 😱😱😱
200k a year is verymuch rich, he litelary win 16k a month... and that episode was made in what, 2004? So it's 16k in 2005... The guy is rich as hell.
I think part of the problem is the huge wealth disparity between everyday people and the wealthy. There's rich and super Rich. I'd say celebrities are closer to the super rich.
lions!
J-Mart = K-Mart I think they still had K-Marts around back then...the one in my hometown was going kaput by that ep.
nice video
Will also tried with his daughter, did you forget Whip my hair by Willow Smith?
willow is well established as an artist on her own also the son too as an music artist
0:52 idc what they say it was visibly written as TOKEN in earlier seasons. It's a lame joke tbh.
There changes his name to Tolkien it not Token
I always see a reminder for the upcoming videos… but I never see the actual videos… …
17:02 Why do Will Smith's kids sound like theyre doing fake Indian accents? 😅
lions!
I think part of the problem in this episode the definition of wealth. A rich person isn't a 1 to 1 parallel for everyone. I was considered poor and rich. Rich for my friends back on the rez, but poor for the kids at boarding school. The only reason i was considered rich on the rez is cause my family had access to a well. The kids at boarding school had shit like PlayStations and xboxs, phones, shoes, even the school supplies... I remember kids laughing at the pencils i used. They weren't those mechanical pencils, and apparently that wasnt cool.
Jmart is not a knockoff of WalMart, it's a knockoff of Kmart, Wall-Mart is the knockoff of WalMart
Why did CatMonk spell Tolkien name wrong in the video title?
Just here to say you have to say her name Mrs.Choksunduc so you can say it
Chicken Juggling? Was that a Billy and Mandy reference?
He's moderately wealthy
38:44 yeah the only racist one was Mr Garrison
Tolkien isn’t rich, but everyone else is poor. Btw, lions!
Nah Tolkien is rich
Funny how you mentioned that this was the episode right before Kenny was gonna be dead and stayed dead until the end of the next season because that episode had Kenny die in the weakest way imaginable
Hey, love your videos, I just wanted to point out that K-Mart was a store that was the low budget version of walmart at the time. Walmart was where you'd go when you had money in the early 90s. So, J-mart was in reference to that store. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure this is the reference. Hope that helps. I love the video though, not trying to be rude
You uh…completely missed the joke about the Smiths’ kids. They act like stereotypical wealthy WASPs, but they’re black. It’s ironic, like the rest of episode.
As a Hispanic/Black race this episode definitely hit different. As I wasn't bullied for not being to black or Hispanic. Couldn't really make friends on either side so I grew up hating being mixed till I finally realized the opinions of the mass shouldn't make me hate myself for being a mixed child. Now I embrace the fact I'm mixed!
That’s not how you spell Tolkien. You’re a part of the problem. 😡
Mrs.Choksondik doesn't deserve this discrimination!
I'm with Cartman here. Wealth privilege.
he didn’t even try this would of been better if it came from butters
Wall Mart is a parody of Walmart, J Mart is a parody of K Mart
Okay hear me out, Can we get a cosplay Patreon pls 🫡
J mart is K mart
Rich is in my opinion having 1 million dollars or more.
Bruh…. did you just call him Token????
Token is one of my favorite kid characters, and he kinda reminds me a lot of AJ from the fairly odd parents where AJ is very smart with an affluent and healthy family home but AJ’s background never took over his entire characterization and he was a good friend to Timmy
Lions
Lions!
live with the Lion's?
Hold up
