The Anorexia episode is 100% my favourite episode! I love how it's Stan that has to deal with it and the twist is so good. I also really love how the episode is still funny yet they take it seriously!! Also, Debbie is one of my favourite characters in the whole series. I wish her and Steve were still together

I just hate that Debbie disappeared after she broke up with Steve, her character was great, and didn’t deserve to go the way as the borderline gimmicky Reginald.

@Popcultureguy3000 yeah, I agree. It made sense why they stopped having Reginald appear, but Debbie was so interesting!! Genuinely Seths best female character

Reginald barely had any good jokes. It’s a lot like why they removed Terry. Greg is much more enjoyable single than with Terry who is just kind of a total nothing burger. I totally get why they wrote Terry off in an offhand comment, and Reginald doesn’t appear anymore.

That ending of Old Stan on the Mountain where he breaks the hex but turns into a black guy and he says “it was at the T-Mobile store and it was not positive.”
There are so many other insane twists on this show i can name too like:
    1. Stan’s mom wanting to kill Tom Yabo instead for the insurance money of it being the other way around.
    2. Francine’s family killing each other in Family Plan with plenty of blood and gore to go around.
    3. Out of nowhere in American Fung, the family dancing with Chinese Mickey Mouse. It was out of left field even for this show!
    4. That lady getting burned to death with the lion still going after her and then Stan slowly closing the door as if nothing happened.
    5. That time Stan and Francine wanted to get rid of Tungi, so they just left him in their SUV as it was still moving only for them to suddenly want him back and say they miss him.
    6. White Principal Lewis and black version of Steve driving off the cliff and Roger’s love keeping the original Lewis and Steve up in the air only for them to crash into each other!
    7. The ending of Frannie 911 where Stan got to beat the ever loving crap out of Roger. Not every day he gets comeuppance for being such a sociopath on this show!
    8. Francine throwing Roger off the cliff and him yelling “I got the car keys in my pocket you stuppppppid biiiiiiitch!” 😂
    9. The whole ending of Rabbit Ears enough said. That was a whole twist in itself.
    10. The way Badonkin Donuts caught on fire in the first place and how Steve reacted to it.
    11. The way they revealed that Hayley found out she was dating Bill, Stan’s body double and all the gags in that episode centered about Francine’s disgust over it and how Hayley ended up burning the whole forest!
    12. Charlotte tricking Steve and his friends into doing construction work for her and how they all ended up being gay in their adult years.
    Just to name a bunch.

29:29 refeeding syndrome generally manifests as intense nausea before you get to the bigger symptoms, so he might loose his bread but he won’t pass out or need the ER or anything (I have a nasty history with food and under eating only to get sick when I finally do eat is something I’m well versed in)

To answer the question towards the end, prolonged periods of starvation run the risk of refeeding syndrome where yes, eating solid food or too much will cause serious health issues as the body has undergone metabolic changes during starvation. However that is more a years of starvation thing like in poor nations, and this is a short term thing Stan did. I'd say his risks are more that his stomach shrank and may not be able to handle a normal amount of food all at once and have to eat more slowly.

Agreed. The fact we saw the whole episode from Stan's perspective for the first half, and then the sudden shift to his malnourished form was one of the few times a Seth Mcfarlene cartoon bamboozled me as a kid, and it provides a striking visual as to the difference between how Anorexic people feel versus how they actually are.

As an overweight person, I have never been a fan of "body positivity". Might be the fact the well has been poisoned by too many activists claiming fatphobia (which I personally have never believed was a real thing) at people, especially plus-size celebrities, even _thinking_ about losing weight. The movement was never to advocate active pursuit of unhealthy lifestyles, it was to build confidence in people for the parts of their bodies they _can't_ change.
Honestly at this point I'd advocate to look in the mirror and ask yourself this. Do I see myself looking back at me from the other side of the mirror? If the answer is no, either you need to make some lifestyle changes, you're tripping on the good stuff, or you need to call an exorcist ASAP.

Stan's body would actual go into shock if he ate as much as a one whole roll. Passing on meals wouod leave him with very low carb, salt, and blood sugar levels. Dinner rolls, especially restaurant ones, are high in carbs and sugar with a dash of salt. Fine for us, but for someone recovering like Stan, it's too high for their body to process. Without immediate medical care, he'd diè within minutes.

  • @eeveewonder6277

As someone with an eating disorder, this was difficult to watch. See I don't have anorexia, my issue is my stomach and mind not working together, my gut can be empty but my brain will convince me I'm not hungry, this can cause me to go days or weeks without eating, or on the opposite side my brain says that I'm still hungry even if I'm not, this results in me eating till I feel like throwing up. So to see something akin to what I suffer with be talked about, especially with a male, it was hard for me, but also kinda reassuring.
If it weren't for my parents and boyfriend I wouldn't be getting the help I need. And thank you for not only covering this topic, but for also putting the warning/help line at the start of the video.

I definitely suffer just looking in the mirror and I see a fat pig, and all my family and friends say no I don't have a double chin and I'm not fat. I'm 200 atm, I starved my self for years until I wanted to eat normally again and now I still struggle now and again to enjoy the food I'm eating. All I can do is never starve myself to 150 and instead stay on top on my no pop or junk diet for a few weeks and stay at the gym. And hopefully I can get back to 150 with good intentions not to die. 😅

11:49 it’s not true at all. “starvation mode” isn’t a thing. it’s your body using fat reserves for fuel. how could you gain weight? if you don’t eat above your calorie intake you will ALWAYS lose weight. laws of thermodynamics people

  • @Solid_Hank

    1. Please don’t shame anyone who wears a lot of makeup just to go to the grocery store, makeup can genuinely be a passionate hobby and a way to creatively express oneself. It’s not inherently because they feel the need to do it for insecurity or societal standards.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with not wearing makeup either.
    2. The reason dieting or cutting calories can make you gain weight at first, is because your body is not used to the noticeable decrease in energy consumption. The body can act as if you’re starving yourself and it will build up more fat deposits in preparation.
This is only temporary and will go away sooner than later, unless you have underlying health issues.
    Love your videos btw!

Being over weight can be more of an issue for other people more so than yourself to a point, then it's so much more your problem. While anorexia is from the start, a whole mess of problems for yourself then becomes a problem for others, seeing how they have to be careful not to hurt you by accident. Either way, both ends are a health risk, and both need to be taken seriously.

Custard sprinkled with sugar crystals and blowtorched until it has a golden, spoon-crackable crust.
Also, I think you've got it backwards. After a time, you'll start gaining weight because your metabolism slows down and reserves more fat due to the lack or reliable intake

Although I didn't see the Episode; That Episode on this Review is GREAT!
It shows the Harms of Body Shaming, Not only it happens to the Victim; it also happens to the Perpetrator who becomes the thing they claim to Hate, That shows the Hypocrisy, the Harms and ShortSightedness of Body Shaming.
Which is Poetic in the Context of the Harms and Hypocrisy of Body Shaming, As Proven time and time again in American Dad Via Stan Smith being the One who is the Idiot and Hypocrite in many Occasional Episodes,
And again I haven't seen American Dad or its Episodes, I'm Just Expressing my Thoughts and Opinions on that Subject based on Body Shaming and the Harms and the Hypocrisy Surrounding on the Topic.

Wow.. an man I was thinking for sure the first concern of Stan would be like what I would imagine as is typically so as far as how I can find from the vibes given by many media programs... especially comedy movies, shows possibly even videogames?
Based on finances for dudes or else race/politics etc fwiw for chicks are how the rents/(3rd person here for this exaple say fantasy in laws etc if that makes sense or even is a tjing and nkt just sounding weird if at all possible to understand) "grading" scale/trope
Regards to the approval etc of ones children/heirs/family members etc or evne friends possibly? Idk dating or crush or fiance etc. Like man 5:25 looks I would not have thought of unless if maybe a dude or punk lady for Hank Hill or somebody like a lady bringing home a dude with sagging jeans backward ballcap and either gold chains and grills and/or white dude with like single ear peirced possibly nowdays more likely oh yeah gauges and or like a maga hat or weed leaf on a beanie type hat etc. Idk lmao or else a cross or [cringes hopefully not both simultaneously or incessantly back and forth lol if that exists] a like devil star/satan like the circular star ritual thing lmfao idk what it is called or even worse imho fwiw some sort of terror group/idk something equal/same levels of awful an prolly imo same thing such as a "clan" thing whatever they use pins ig like the 30s and 40s germany did*.
Fun fact apparently fwiw Rebel/csaseccession etc flags and Ww2 germany stuff is potential to be thought of a a captured by the enemy voctory symbol etc fwiw. Eg a flag captured by the union in thus far a sucess sign or a ripped from the then early 1940s german leader/chancellor and his signature as a sign of acknowledged well not personally his but his generals or what they call them idk acknowledged that they were imprisoned and defeated etc and that their signature was a proof of defeat etc. Idk but seems fwiw imho to feel a lot more kewl although yeah pfft who would wear those things for irl or even just pretend for like.. clothing I mean that is cringe worthy of a image in itself is meeting someone letalone being related to a person that does that for like parading in it (the signage of hate symbol/groups I mean) parading around in it like oh omfg nah man that is idk just how awful of an image imo. Legit a dicey trope but man I feel I realise now it seems an is fairly obvious Stans most if not sole focus is her aesthetic appearance etc.
Also even if not a good thing fwiw there is some chance that such artifacts of wars maybe high valuable etc.

I’ve never seen the mean goth girl stereotype. In my experience, alt kids are always the best because they know how horrible it is to be treated as an outcast.

@@princessmarlena1359woah man... glad to have been ig ignorant of that but also ig cause I nnever was in middle/high school there so yeah but the latter part of your comment made me snicker as that is kind of humorous.. because eventually life/reaity imho kicks everybody in the stomach and the shins/legs. Murphys law is inevitable.
Though speaking from experience the most like maybe because we were all in the same homeroom special ed program in middle school this was why I feel these two kids and then in hs one of them the dude I also went to school with in 9th and 10th and another chick that they seened fairly genius like with math and computing merely depressed/withdrawn but yet for some reason well maybe not so hard to figure out why because of that.. I felt theh were the only ones I have in the time I was in school never had a fight or argument with lmfao... they did not at least in front of me.. tbh have beef with well anybody actually... quite suprising really imo nj like o.o man that is just so unique.. because the others more vocal I during some hears would find it relaxing to try to annoy the kids that I had tendancy to be rival/head to head with but yeah never with the goth kids nor the emokids nor well even the rock and skater kids either. Basically they seemed not to have any notable weaknesses to like be making one go ooh there pleasantly reactive etc... like in a unhealthy way.. vs being like actually pleasant tbh around hell they were along with some english language learner kids in hs for senior uear because I suck at badmitton tbh.. fair enough that htey were the only ones that wanted to continue to be doing for pe badmitton with me but still that was fun aside from that (luckily we didnt really need to understand eachother or I assume they did not either...so yeah fwwi sweet :D) yeah man fr nj I think listening to and even just being in same room from sometimes.. as the imho shy/broken down/burdened with life types of peeps were the most memorable for more than one like cjaracteristic or instance of stuff etc an when they talked it was so.. idk but yeah other students were if not adversaries etc then basically just more one or two tiem comedic situations that I recall but not like super like.. idk somebody I would lose sleep over having not knowledge of where any of them are now..
But regardless all of em are prolly still busy doing whatever busy with life I suppose but yeah... O always found how much in depth or real meaning to it for whatever it was that the queit or not super assertive at least.. kids were was that they were going to make me think deep an did so whatever they said.. vs mere trynna annoy me or get me to make some innapropriate action etc fwiw basically for there entertainment etc.. or to be idk but actually talking about something that even if unreleated merely amused me for the knowledge.. plus they when talking to eachother and occasioanly with me theyd mention a thing about themselves etc.. and thats why I feel I beter remember details of them specifically in hindsight vs just.. any random peer etc.

Yeahhh I kind of noticed come to think of it.... it seems like the trend the last few years was almost glorifying/condoning or encouraging the regressing of disorders and at best one step forward two steps back... when it was either mukbang (overdramitically poorly done specifically not just any mukbang to be fair) or like visibly like almost making one imo think of a person as being like suprisongly even alive still from how frail or etc due to presumably appearing to be sjowing symptoms of starvation like how does either of those seemingly somehow become all the rage in yet I never seem for imho well like most stuff be in the loop on what is trendy and even then still not see once a trend where it is in the median does it like a standing person in a cannoe moving back and forth side to side just slosh back and forth and not have an in between period of time set or point when it is not so seemingly made up around stuff that is painful or poisonous like eating all sorts of interesting chemicals that are not ones meant to be eaten like detergent or drinking a wjole bottle of vinnegar like it is a beveradge by itself for everyday... *man rip teeth hehe yk?* or just plain outright torturing oneself/tormenting oneself like how is it a big trend to do this this and this or xyz, .. it is just so plain awful fr I can not figure that out like legit
According to research from the Cinnamon challenge to the Eraser challenge to the penny challenge to dry ice challenge to the admittedly once seemingly not so dumb at least not as much as it truly was tbh in all honestu as an adult I can say yeah... it is just plain... idk even just idk what to think lol fr.
Or even how to finish that sentence..

My grandmother had Gigantomastia. My whole life as a kid, until I had a DD as a nine year old, I thought that she was just overweight with skinny arms and legs; becasue her breasts went down to her waist. She had a hump in her spine from the weight, and she had to put pads under the bra straps to keep them from cutting into her. It's really a condition that people don't have enough sympathy for. I did not have the same issue, but I ended up with a 32 I (32 inches around my ribs and a little over 41 inches around my chest, at 5'4".), and I have permanent chronic pain from the weight pulling on my spine between my shoulder blades. I really wish that people would see the reality of what having giant breasts is for women, instead of cheering it on or making it the butt of their jokes.

    • @SupHapCak

I feel like breast reduction for a condition that stresses/alters your spine should be covered by insurance.

    • @DogFlamingoXIII
      @DogFlamingoXIII 5 місяців тому +1

@@SupHapCak In the US, it was not covered by insurance, when I was in my 20s. That has changed now, but they don't judge it on whether you and your doctor think that it is beneficial to you medically. They judge it on whether or not you will have more than a specific amount of weight removed. There have been times where doctors get in there and find out that there is not enough tissue to remove the exact amount that the insurance company wants (or one breast is large enough but the other is slightly smaller), so they have added solution (I guess, saline, but I'm not sure.) to be able to say that they're then removing enough, just so the insurance will pay for it. My breasts are still large enough that they're causing my back pain from fibromyalgia and a back injury to be affected daily, but my breasts aren't quite big enough to meet the insurance company's weight, so they won't pay for it. It's really ridiculous.
It's the same logic where medical insurance doesn't pay for dental care, even though it is part of your body and can have serious impact on your entire body.

    My top five favorite twists:
-Mama and Baa-ba being better in-laws to Stan than Francine’s selfish skunk biological parents, The Dawsons
-Sidney Huffman (one of Roger’s alter egos come to life)
-Stan thinking he is still fat despite being too thin
-Stan’s half brother Rusty being super wealthy despite Stan shafting him out of a $20,000 inheritance and sticks him with the other inheritance of vast land on top of a major copper vein.
-Roger doing a better job than Stan, only to foul up and Stan saving the day
Also, I love wearing makeup, it’s just too expensive for me to wear regularly (off stage). As for gym class in school, our coaches at my schools were very strict and forced us to participate. I live an active lifestyle, so I can justify eating Haagen Daaz without paying the penalty.

I've had this since 2021 and I know how to deal with it. Honestly btw, they do thin shame people and call you fat at once, it's a crazy world when you battle this hehe.

    • @ignorant1126

Eh, actually... I think you're remembering it wrong. I believe there were 4 episodes about them. 1. This one: They date, they break up.
      2. The one about Francine feeling threatened by the relationship: They date, they break up.
      3. The one about running for school president: They date, they break up.
      4. The heist episode: They date, they break up.
There might've been more but those two only interacted in episodes focused on them, where they'd break up by the middle or end. 1 had Steve dumping her on the phone, 2 wasn't shown on screen but Steve cried about it, in 3 Debbie dumped him because he lied to her and 4 she dumped him for his immaturity

I mean it's a suburb of DC so it couldn't be all that small. It's a 30 minute drive into DC during rush hour so it's pretty close

Hey, long time sufferer and currently in recovery of anorexia. To answer your question about the weight gain yes. It’s not a lot usually, about five ish pounds give it or take but to someone in the throws of an eating disorder that tends to push people further into restrictive eating. Eventually you’ll hit a stage where you’ll struggle to gain weight back during recovery as you’ve shrunk and damaged your digestive system so much it struggles to take the nutrients from the little food it has the room for. It took me over two years to gain back the weight I lost in six months during one episode with my eating disorder.
