Why is the 2000 Ford Cobra R a very special Mustang?
Вставка

- The Mustang has a ton of performance but Ford wanted to take it up a notch. The 2000 Cobra R was the FASTEST Mustang when it debuted. Under the fiberglass hood is a 5.4L V8 pumping out 385HP & mated to the first 6-speed manual ever available in a Mustang. The Cobra R is 1 of just 300 and features a custom splitter, wheels, hood, and rear wing. On the inside you will find radio, rear seats, sound deadening, and A/C deleted. Is the 2000 Ford Cobra R a very special Mustang?

I love how Joe didn't waste any time when he was at the car show by doing all car reviews he can get. That's why I love this channel 👍🏻👍🏻
My man hitting it back to back vids in a hour!!!!!! This is why I watch and respect this man!!!
I really appreciate your great siupport!
OH MY GOD, JOE! THIS ISSS MY FAVORITE CAR OF ALL TIME alongside the BCNR33 LM Limited, and the BMW M3 GT-R!!! I love everything about this car from it's MASSIVE wing to it's LOVELY 5.4 V8. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for giving this legend the attention it deserves. I'd take this over any Terminator, & any Mustang for that matter. Like oh my GOD, thank you Joe 👏🏾🏆🏁
such an Iconic car Im blessed enough to own a 2004 SVT Cobra
Yes you are my friend!
@@RaitisRides hopefully ill get on your level congratulations on that 350 what a great car. Can you review the 2021 z71 tahoe again that thing is beautiful
@@SVTVasquez You are to kind my friend. I will track down a Z71 for you!
@@RaitisRides I appreciate it i need to know how many twinkies I can fit in the tahoe hopefully a lot
What's special about the cobra that makes you blessed? Lol can find hella of them on the market now at days
And she’s still a beauty!
I totally agree with you!
"The Cobra R was a true factory based street legal race car designed for ferocious corner carving and blistering speed"
Was this from the brochure?
At 1:15 the guy claims that it wasn't street legal because it was an R and you had to have a racing license or be part of a racing team.
I've only heard that about the 1994 or 95 R.
I put the engine in this....I also sold 4 cases of beer a day and was high on coke along with 1/2 of the plant. I'd check every bolt
Joe stockpiled footage at this event so he could take time off and drive the new GT350R 😝😝
I wish that was the case! I ma on a business trip with the 2021 Nissan Rogue. I will be bringing more GT350R footage soon!
@@RaitisRides thank you for reviewing this car. just thank you so much!
I was in love with this car when it came out my senior year, while I was driving my 83 mustang lx notchback with a 2.3 lol I hope to see one in person one day too!
I had an 88 2.3 notch back in y2k.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 has entered the chat
You are awesome!
You stole my comment.😁
@@shazamkablam1420 I knew somebody would be quick with it!
One of the coolest cars to outrun 5.0 in 🍻💰
Used to love that came on PC!
Love the blast from the past Cobra R. That’s a well maintained example. Thanks for sharing it Joe. Nicely done Lori! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
I am so glad that you like this one Larry!
It still has a special place in my heart. Loved driving it in Gran Turismo 3.
Tuned right this thing is still a beast in the Gran Turismo world, whenever I use mine in any of the online play it blows peoples minds how well it handles and they need to revert to GTR's to keep up.
This car is a Legend on the Streets and in the Gaming World ! Must have in Both 🔥🔥🔥🍻
I could not agree more with you!
I thought all cobra r were street legal I’ve seen a 2000 cobra r on the street before
@@kos2318 probably a clone.....thousands of em out there
I’ve always loved this Mustang!....every time I see it in pictures or videos I’m in aww
I totally agree with you!
Love the history lessons that comes with these older specialty vehicles. Keep bringing that knowledge Joe🤓
Thanks Anthony! I really appreciate your support!
I remember reading about this car in HS . Thanks for reviewing it ! It really was ahead of its time. These Mustangs are still gorgeous.
Thanks James for letting me share it with you!
This car brings back a lot of nostalgic memories. Great video!
After twenty years this car is still at the top of my dream car garage list. Still have never seen one in person.
I totally agree with you Kenny!
Some older school race/muscle cars are awesome. Great job Lori, excellent work
Thanks for showing Lori some love!
Great Job Lori and Joe. I love your videos. A little fact you forgot: The Cobra R came out with an independent rear suspension, It gave it an extra performance on the track, compared with the other Mustangs, including the SVT Cobra with the supercharged 5.4 and the solid rear axle. I remember reading the articles in Motor Trend Magazine, comparing this car with the C5 Z06 Corvette and the Viper. Amazing articles, I love them. Keep the great work.
Sorry. supercharged 4.6
This Cobra R is so beautiful. Great review!
Thank you Miguel for letting me share it with you! I totally agree with you!
The reason why Raiti is so awesome is because he delivers quality unbiased content and he also actually responds to comments.
Side note, I’m curious as to how many Twinkie’s can I fit in the glove compartment of that Mustang.
Great job Lori, now we know you're the magic behind great productions. Nice job team....Wonderful car and great review.
Thanks Ray for showing Loris some love! She is such a hard worker!
I worked at a Ford dealership back then and those were exciting times. Ford was making really nice vehicles like the Harley F-150s and SVT was putting out awesome stuff. We had a lot of fun.
U just got a new subscriber for reviewing such a rare mustang....there isn’t too many people than can say they were able to review a Mustang SVT Cobra R....just wish the owner was around to possibly start it up or take it around the roads a lil bit
Hi Donte'! Thanks for saying that and joining the Raiti's Rides family! I really wish I could of fired her up.
Maaaan. I was watching the blue 2021 mach 1 video you made and seen this R in the back ground and thought to myself it would be cool if you did a review of that..see raitis rides got our backs!!! I love these cars.
Thanks for letting me bring them to you!
Hey Joe I've been a silent subscriber for some time. This is my first comment ever on UA-cam actually. Love your content and really like videos like this covering the history of this Mustang. I see these cobras from time to time but never new what made them special!
Hi Marcus! Thank you so much for reaching out. I really appreciate you being a member of the Raiti's Rides family!
Love the video man!! Thanks for doing it! The Cobra R had many firsts for mustang (6 speed manual and independent rear suspension). The car is a beast. I’m 18 and this is a car I want to own one day. Keep the mustang videos coming brotha!!
Timeless car. Awesome review and great cam work Lori!
Thanks my friend! We really appreciate your great support!
I've always loved mustangs from a family of mustang enthusiasts and this one has always been the elusive urban myth that you know exists but never see in person. Very cool content keep it up
I seen one 2000 cobra R driving down my street from my house, I was in still highschool but never forgot that moment
Love this channel... just bought the 2020 GT... Great video very informative keep them coming
"Motorweek", I just bought a Terminator and when I am asked why I refer to the Motorweek episode in 2003 and the scream of the Supercharger. Classic show!
@Joe great review on this 2000 Mustang Cobra R I love how it's in such a prestine shape. @Lori as always great job with the camera work. I think the new GT-500 would be a perfect car for you and parked next to hubby's GT-350R Heritage Edition. I'll see you on the next ride
I was 23 when this car came out and ive been wanting one ever since. I WILL own one ASAP.
I really enjoy your presentations as you’re very knowledgeable and passionate about cars. I used to work right next to a Ford dealer who sold SVT, Saleen, and Roush. I remember they had 2 of these. They were crazy expensive, I want to say $55,000 which was an insane amount of money in 2000. They had 5 or 6 Saleen S-281’s and I want to say they were high $30’s low 40’s. I could be wrong though. I felt bad with my low ass wages looking at such cool cars
Fantastic Mustang from Ford's SVT devision. Love that massive front spoiler, Hugh rear wing and the bubbled hood. It looks fast just setting. A true collectable.
Yes the Cobra R, a true factory Mustang race car, such a special car, nice job Joe & Lori on the video and coverage.
What a nice car!
That is one special car
Just like you mentioned 🏁💨💨
Shouts out to your wife for being part of the channel 👏
Sweet I remember that when I first came out watching it on MotorWeek spun the tires in 3rd gear and love to Lori :-)
I totally remember that one as well. Thanks for showing some love for Lori!
Such an Iconic car! I’ve never seen one in person as well, Thanks to this car is why we have the Terminator cobra and all of the modern Shelbys that followed after.
I remember back on 2001 playing Gran Turismo 3 for the PS2 and seeing this car in the ford gallery in game...never knew that it was a track specific car, very interesting.
damm, you guys are dropping videos like once an hour lol thank you guys :-)
Of course Edide! I want to bring you the best!
Pennsylvania! My home state! Great Vid Joe keep up the amazing work!
I used to have a toy model cobra r growing up. One of the reasons I got into mustangs.
That is so very cool man!
These cars came with a Canton racing oil pan. They all leaked ! The manager of the manufacturing dept. was a welder/manager and trained the welders to weld these oil pans. To keep the bottom of the pan from warping the manager had the welders braze the sump supports to the bottom of these oil pans. Problem was he didn't train the welders on brazing and the welders brazed at the same temperature that they welded. This created hair line cracks in the bottom of the sumps which made them leak. Canton eventually fired him after a few other situations the manager created . I believe 300 of these cars were made and all but a handful came back for repair. Oil pan did give the engine about 20 + up over all other brands the SVT team tried on the engine. Pans were fine after they were repaired at a great cost to Canton.
Thanks for sharing that great info Ben!
Very cool to see power windows and door locks also mirrors from factory in the Cobra R mustang back in the yea 2000 despite the fact that it has back seat am/fm stereo also air conditioning delete from factory beautiful red color
Best looking mustang ever made
I am glad that you are all about this one.
One of my favorite cars from Gran Turismo 5. Nice video brother!
I love all the Cobra R mustangs but my favorite is the 95 Cobra R love the simplicity of the car .
I totally agree with you!
@@RaitisRides Yes indeed
Very special and will go down in history as one of the badass Stangs of all time
Great, Great, Great video, thank you so much Lori (and Joe)!
That's a beautiful machine. Good review Joey.
Thanks man!
Joseph Raiti that’s a cool car I love that car.Its one of my favorite cars too.And Also 2000 Was The Year I Was Born!!! I Can’t Wait To See You Drive And Race with It!!!
That is so very awesome Brian! Thanks for watching!
Raiti's Rides you’re welcome I wanna meet you 1 day!!!
Great Review Joe ... .love the old school reviews
Only Joe can do a retro review and still give valid current real-driver perspectives. All good! Beautiful car but I'd lose the wing for street. LOVE the side exhausts! Making my 93' reef blue notch jealous. But not my black 14' GT, ha. Well, a little bit.
One of the few modern mustangs with resale prices near factory msrp or even higher.
AGREED!
Great vid. I’m learning so much from your channel.
its been mentioned already but dam thank you NFS Hot pursuit 2 for introducing me to my favorite mustang since forever
SO GLAD they added this in the Tuners update to GTA Online. Love this car so much. Seems criminal that they put it in the Muscle class in the game.
That one red mustang IN EVERY RACING GAME EVER!!!!! 😂😂😂😂🤟🏾
never new about this mustang, ty joe good job
You forgot to mention the dual independent rear axle cobra r had only which didn’t show up in the mustang till the 2015 years, while the other mustang before then where stuck on single axle.
You are so very right!
I was hoping with the s550 fomoco would shrink the stang back down to a similar size. As the sn95 new edges. Which imo we're one of the nicest looking outside gen 1s. Until the 2018+model's
Shame they say the s650 is going to be even larger&heavier. 😒
YOU ARE the Mustang officiano!!!! GREAT video....BANGING @ss whip!!
Was always a fan of the early 2000s mustang, even though it doesn’t hold a candle to its successor. For some reason the current gen front reminds me of it, since both look more like sports cars than muscle cars. If the current gen had a muscle car front, like the 2005-14, it would be perfect!
I used to have the same car it a beast, thank you for reviewing it.
Another awesome Mustang! Thank you!
I am so glad that you like this Stang brother!
Hey Joe, thanks for the great video! Where is this Mustang event at? Thanks in advance!
I love watching your videos!!
Thank you so much for saying that!
Other than it going over 100 and running over its bumper.🤣🤣 I LOVE IT
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
That car was so Rare. That one is in Great Shape. It's going to be a 100k car !!! Ford always made good Special Edition Mustangs.
You are so very right about that!
@@RaitisRides Joe was that white one the Rare 1995 351 Cobra R ? I wanted all of those. That 1993 Cobra R, I think they only made 103 of those...Wow !!!
@@TimeisReel Yes sir!
I remember seeing this car in the showroom at the dealership I used to work for back in 2000.
The price sticker on it was 45k.
Damn time flies. lol
Behind Every Successful Man is a Woman... And that's you Lori... Kudos... 👍👍👍
My favorite mustang
I know how you feel!
Joe it will be interesting to hear how the CVT sounds, looking forward to you next test ride
Keep up the grate work man and can u Plz do the Durango hellcat when it comes out😁
SN95 Mustangs are the best Mustangs. A Mustang so good it scared the Camero out of existence.
Well said and so right!
I saw one of these in 2001 that was trashed. The owner was a young guy who bought it new and drove it into the ground. At the time I didn't know what it was or how special
My absolute favorite stang
Love the red. Don’t care for the rims much. A lot of the red mustangs driving by in the background of your video look outstanding. Orville and Wilbur would love the back of this car. 😀 Keep’em coming Joe. We love your work. 👍
I can understand where you are coming from.
How about a 94 Cobra R review? Great camera work and great review.
Thanks man! Stay tuned we have them coming!
I appreciated this review, I actually learned alot!! I'm still patiently waiting for a Terminator!!!! Great job as always Joe! LORI GET A MUSTANG!!
French fry trailer in background... Ima hungry now. Heniz ketchup or gravy? That car was cool too.
Fun facts that front bumper is on the 99-01 cobra. Cobra R got the special chin spoiler. The front lights are the 99 mustang gt lights, not the updated 01 cobra lights. The rear bumper is a v6 mustang (due to side exhaust) [Note: 01 cobra had cobra on back bumper) and those infamous amber tail lights (99-01 cobras only) the side fake vents (they updated those late 01 cobra models) Lol also on the right of this cobra R is the 95 cobra R and the 93 cobra R
Please note I am excluding the 03-04 cobra terminator on purpose....
Been watching you for a while never realized I wasn’t subscribed! Just did also what do you think about the Saleen s-197 mustang ?
“I am gonna Zonk that” 😆 Great job as usual.
Any mustang from the 2000's are excellent drift cars.
Next time can you please do the Roush performance mustang?
Thanks joe
You got it Milton!
They are a real crowd killer
My all Time favorite Mustang ♥️♥️
I got my 2020 Ford GT PP1 around the same time as you receiving your 350R :). I love my GT, but I started thinking about getting the 350 the second I drove it off the lot.. ;)
Congrats man! The PP1 Mustang is a great car though.
Joe putting in work...on throttle 🔥🔥🔥
Not that it REALLY matters but I believe SN95 was 94-98....New Edge was 99-04....then a big body style change in 2005. Just FWIW
Thanks for that great info.
Great video like always
Funny prior to this American cars where still using push rods one valve per cylinder while Japanese developed DOHC 4 valve per cylinder at late 80s
John Colletti he pushed to get this car magical!
Every year it's shit weather at Ford Nationals. Never fails. lol. Love this car!
You stated that it’s not street legal, which I believe is incorrect. I saw one at Bloomington Ford in Bloomington Minnesota in 2000. It was inside the showroom and the lower front spoiler was wrapped up inside the rear of the car. The dealer markup by multiple Ford dealerships often brought the price above $50,000. The non R Mustang Cobra wasn’t built by Ford for the year 2000. Owners of 1999 Mustang Cobra’s were suing Ford alleging that they had less power than advertised.
The purpose of this e vehicle by Ford was for it to be track specific. There are owners who have them registered for the street.
2000 MUSTANG COBRA R sticker price was $54995.
Can’t wait for Laurie to become part of the stang gang
Back in my day this WAS THE CAR. It absolutely destroyed anything in town.
The taillights are impressive, very beautiful. And that big wing doesn't the aesthetics of the Cobra.
Good input on this one Sergio!
