Chigg - I know you ain't the kind of guy to care anyway, but don't listen to these people saying this is "boring" or "go back to metal detecting". These Alaska videos have been fantastic and the fact that you went through so much effort with equipment and filming to share all this with us is just unbelievable. I love watching your videos. Thank you!
Really interesting! My old Army buddy lives 90 minutes north of me, here in NH. He claims that people always are panning a river near him, every summer, so we will try detecting there and maybe try some panning. I had no idea how to do that, until watching your series of videos on it, so THANKS VERY MUCH! I wish you gold in your bucket!
Panning for gold provides all the anticipation and suspense that you are known for! But it would be hard on this old man's back! Thanks for taking us to Alaska!
i like that you explain what your doing ....great for the newbies...i am rookie level still but i know my panning technique but i could still learn a few tricks
It really is a shame that your videos only go back 5 years just by luck this one popped up I tried to go back to see the rest but alas only 5 years was as far as it went and this one was from 7 years ago sigh…. Really enjoyed this one wish I could have seen the others. Thanks for sharing see you on the next one👍🏼👊🏼
Great vid, hey I was a wrench for a few years and I can tell ya this. I used to bust up my hands until i started using mechanic wear type gloves, it works somehow to afford you that little bit of protection and if you buy nice ones you dont take them off till the end of the day, i used to have those big leather work gloves with the cuff... on and off cause no dexterity etc...
Good video enjoyed watching thanks going out soon in the Lead hills here in Scotland soon to do a bit of panning so looking forward to that...stay safe and well.
another great video chigg u make me feel like am right there with you doing what you are doing so thanks for that and see i told you Ricky would lead you to the gold
Awesome video, as usual. You are correct in saying that everyone has their own technique for panning. What works foryou may not work for me, so.........develope and practice. That will make 'perfect. See ya in the next one.
Malakoff Diggins State Park in California is a perfect example of hydraulic mining during the CA Gold Rush. Changed the landscape of the area to this day.
I have a fantastic new panning technique. Sit beside Beau and catch everything he drops. You'll be drowning in gold after a short while. 😂 That said; I love seeing Chigger in my sub box.
Thank you Chig for taking the time and being so thorough in explaining. Did you see that mouse run across the camera lens? 36;02, and another big one i missed the number. Do you eventually give the total gold haul? thats what everyone looks forward to on them gold mining shows.
Back here in ohio we don't have the gold to pan in the rivers and streams. One way I practiced was I tossed 3 pieces of #8 lead shot in with some sand from along a river. Panned it out. Luckly I found all three pieces of lead shot my first try!
Good vid waiting my turn to get to Nome. That high banker looks a bit steep.if your not catching the gold level out that highbanker a bit. 1-2 inches of drop per foot. you want a flow of water over the riffles not water falls or air bubbles, a smooth wave. the gold will not drop through the air bubbles. more water will help too. Good Luck
I used to work on the North Slope of Alaska. Mosquitoes can survive living in the permafrost. I witnessed mosquitoes emerging from the melting permafrost in a ditch we were digging, thousands of them.
Hello aquachigger I happened to stumble upon you video. I enjoyed watching your video. You should weigh the gold flakes and see how much you get out of every dig. I believe it will be more thrilling if us viewers can be part of the dig. Happy subscriber and enjoyed learning from your video 😎
Do love your videos man, if you're looking to move more material without all the noise and stink of running a highbanker you should use a river sluice, wont get as much gold but its a hell of a lot more relaxing haha. Cheers from the other side of the globe buddy!
We have decided that you definitely need one of those Aussie prospector hats with the corks on strings all around the brim. That will keep the little pests away - either that or industrial strength DEET......
When forest fire fighting and the water is low we just out ever green bows down and out the foot valve on it .given they don't have evergreens they could just use those low bushes or even take some of that old metal and put it under the foot valve to prevent sand from being sucked up.
the coat your wearing looks like what i m looking for! what is it! where did you get it ? been watching for couple years. this is a great series. thanks
When I was in college back in North Carolina, when gold was about $35 an ounce one of my professors took us out to a local stream and showed us what he said was gold. There was more in that little stream then all you found Chigger. You went all the way to Alaska and you could of found more near where you live.
Shoot. You must be getting close to 80-90 years old then. 65 years ago there was alot more gold to be found everywhere. Society has since cleaned out streams the way they were from back in your day.
Les Paul In 1934, Congress passed the Gold Reserve Act. It prohibited private ownership of gold in the United States. It also allowed President Roosevelt to raise the price of gold to $35 an ounce. Hence why I said the numbers I did.
Love your video adventures but have a question. When was the last time you double panned your concentrates to see just how much you are getting the first time around? Or does it make any sense for you to do so? Isn't that how we learn to do better then just taking our own word for it?
looks good that solid terrain hides er butt bellow that dert you got diversity soo a prospecter can feel all them depths they sayy over yonder some times bad feellin two more good days lookin

Love your video adventures but have a question. When was the last time you double panned your concentrates to see just how much you are getting the first time around? Or does it make any sense for you to do so? Isn't that how we learn to do better then just taking our own word for it?

39:04 something starts walking in the frame in the very top left hand corner and walks into the shot, was that a Bigfoot?
Good Eye ! Dang what was that ?
brilliant video, please do more gold panning for noobs like me please
Ask your friend there about the "tap tap tap" method of separating gold in the pan from the last of the black sand.
Where were you working as a teacher before the innerweb? Been watching your videos long time and they are all informative. Thanks.
When the material is in that fluid state, it is either called soil liquifaction or soil liquifacation
Not liquifaction. That is associated with seismic activity.
I cant retire on the gold in my river, its just being outdoors with nature and acting like a old timer that keeps me going out time and time again.
Yeah that was good
A goldspecific magnet would be great :-)
Spacerboy Gold is not magnetic
thanks Chig
Ever think of looking at SAT maps before you go to that camp?
GREAT VIDEO !!
GET SOME " FRIZZBIES " --- GREAT TO SIT ON 5 GAL. BUCKET BOTTOMS !!
Bet you can find good old Home Depot buckets everywhere. I own many.
