      @@maklogetrich2378 I'm guessing he decided to stop when that connector pulled away from the board without any legs attached and a piece melted off

    • @MikkoRantalainen
      @MikkoRantalainen 4 місяці тому +2

      Yeah, and luckily he also understood when to stop when it didn't work out. I was a small wonder no components were missing from the board.

    • @IlBiggo
      @IlBiggo 4 місяці тому +1

      Probably not their first. The amount of heat you have to inject in that board for even a single joint to melt would have made a disaster if they weren't at least moderately skilled (or at least honest enough to recognize their level). It looks like they flooded the area with flux, tried to use low-melt, it didn't work so they just cut the connector's legs.

Not just the tools you use. Thanks for showing everyone how easy things can be when you put your brains, blood, sweat and tears into what you do!

    I appreciate your knowledge, and especially appreciated your wisdom on focusing on what makes you unique. I don't lack passion, I lack direction. It's one thing to inform people on what the repair process is, it's even greater when you share what truly matters, being unique, and making yourself valuable. Bucking conformity is difficult, sometimes very difficult, but in the end the reward will be greater.

    Its kinda unsettling how many people continue to try to do jobs like this with little to zero experience on such a pricy device. I have seen a huge influx of people also wanting to do the rog ally and steam deck ram upgrade. I then ask them to see what equipment they are going to try it with and I kid you not the last guy shows me a soldering iron kit he got on amazon for 40$... im not even joking. The guy thinks you can do bga soldering with a soldering iron..... I have seen it all, so many people just hear soldering, and think because they can solder two wires together on a broken dryer cord they can do the same thing on a 2000$ device at a microscopic level. Please guys have a bit more diligence when it comes to researching the procedures and equipment needed! Equipment alone on some of these devices your going to be spending close or more than the device is worth to do it properly and anything less and your going to ruin said device entirely and end up costing you more than it would to just send it to the experts. I myself have a reflow station and a decent amount of equipment but id never in my wildest dreams attempt bga work or esp a power connector on a 2000$ gpu. I would rather spend the few hundred bucks for the peice of mind that its not only done right, but theres a warranty on the work itself being done.

    On thick circuit boards , I lay the area of the board on a small heat plate to pre-heat the area of the board I work on, the heat plate gets up to 500 deg F, or 250 Deg C. it's helps when removing components.

    NorthridgeFix : I think Nvidia should 100 % recall all of the 4080-s preemptively and most definitely all of the 4090-s. This connector is mechanically and electrically too weak for the 641 Watts of quite regular peak power and continuous 530-580 Watts of power consumption that the 4090 draws.

    • @Nite-Lite-Gamers
