There’s first time for everything as we learn from this channel, for the last 3-4 years I’ve followed you Alex today is the first day I’ve seen you puzzled with an asus laptop, they are usually a walk over for you but this one was really something, in my area code it’s midnight already but I saw a 25 mins video uploaded and I was like there’s something fishy and I was like I’m not sleeping without knowing what’s really in this video. Amazing work though
mlcc capacitors can have piezoelectric effects they create voltage when being tapped and make sound / vibrate when charging/discharging them with sharp transient voltage spikes
I think the ticking sound is the laptop trying to play the "ROG" sound (who these models make on every boot), but being constantly interrupted by a thermal protection reboot 😉
You are quite an inspiration, Alex. Thank you for all your videos. I suggest you try to use a stethoscope to find a sound source. They are rather cheap, and can be quite useful in my opinion.
you are great skills and expirence to repair that imposible to fix ,, i learn a lot from you ,,how to fix that laptop,,thank you master ,,master of all masters,
@@don4techy He's not wrong. A switching regulator attempting to turn on especially if it's dumping into a high current load like a short can emit a noise from its inductor as the windings aren't solidly bound together they can flex just enough. Under normal conditions you might even hear a high pitch buzzing or tone.
Use a piece of tube to locate sounds like a stethoscope. Put one end to your ear and point the other around until the sound is clear, and whatever it is pointing at is where the sound is coming from. Any tube or straw will work.
You just wanted us to watch the whole video, you sly fox. You knew it was the speaker named BOT. You making a mystery drama show for entertainment my guy and it was VERY good. Thank you for another amazing video.
I've heard a lot of horror stories about ASUS laptops...the verdict is still out for me as most of the failures appear to be users that are gross slobs, but I have that 3500 dollar one with the dual screens and I am very careful with it just in case. You're a sharp dude and I love your channel. Keep up the great work. Much respect.
4:11 so savage haha I can relate i can specialize in something and be very good at it and the moment I stop I forget 90% so having references helps immensly.
Cheers !!!! I have still on my Possession the first Asus Strix 17 Scar v1 - 8750h.1070gtx. sometimes need to keep pressed the power button exactly 1 min .After that it's powe on nominally...
I have a good solution for when my PC has a problem I can't track down. It's called a Waste Management trash container. I call it my frustration remover.
What seems to go first in all the videos is the capacitors and mosfets......likely user error, using the laptop on the bed blocks those fans from pulling in air to cool the board!
Since you mentioned Best Buy I'm curious if you get warranty work through them? I know back when I worked there it had to be shipped to a repair facility.
Hey Alex, at 6:08 in video, there is a fan connector labeled j5001. would it be possible for you to ordersome thru your store? i cannot find them and need several. thanks.
My high end Asus motherboard failed totally 3 months outside of the 3 year warranty with no warning. Guess I am done with Asus... Not what they used to be.

Wow 2 separate issues at the same time? That was amazing diagnostics and repairs!

Good thing you didn't miss out on this one.
It's always nice seeing those board repairs

excellent repair Alex. Hi from Uruguay. I forgot to coment about your new house... Congratulations!!! You deserve that and more...
The ghosts from all of the "ninth dimension" components are to blame for that sound, lol!! Great job, my brother!! Take care. Alex!!
23:57 when the big boss said 'Bismillah' I really felt that nearly cried
I love how the multimeter at big boss's bench is attached at the end of the video @24:37
That was one of your tougher repairs, well done!
It was really a great job my friend and I am so glad to have you long long distance fome overseas in usa!!!
Great technique with the thermal detection approach!
ANOTHER BRILLIANT IDENTIFICATION OF THE SHORTS AND BAD GUYS
Thank you for sharing the kinds of things you only learn from experience. Its more valuable than months of work on your own.
This was a great one, always interesting when it's a weird issue but you still figure it out in the end.

That click sound could be because of an inrush current in the inductor. the winding might make such a sound, Usually bigger ones
Lol how wrong you were......inductor clicking.....are you high?
@@don4techy shut that off. have you ever built a circuit yourself? no. you repair F35, you know everything!

Thats what I thought some devices will not turn on without fans and/or heat zink. Inverter solders work just like that.

Thank you for sharing another great video.
Could you share some stats about what the most and least frequent laptop brands you get?
Good project ser
Since you mentioned Best Buy I'm curious if you get warranty work through them? I know back when I worked there it had to be shipped to a repair facility.
I understand that spills etc can cause problems but is it the life span of components or over heating being the problem.
Great repair
Thank you for teaching us
use a stethospe with conical in the middle they make them for auto
Great fix, Alex!! 🤓
Heatsinks might have pins around the heatsinks to make a sensor
Hope you don't charge more for spending extra time listening to this laptop, Alex! 😁
Hi, can you share what mic are you using?
Since you know the common problems on laptops and graphics cards, would you design your own through pcbway for a better product if it's possible.
Thats called forgetting more than you know. Its happening to me bad at 50yrs age.
Amaizing!
Good job mate 👍
God bless you Alex.
Why didnt you use thermal camera in the first place?
My Alienware area 51m does the same exact thing.... A $3000 laptop is now sitting in a plastic bin because of this same issue
Why not go send it to shop lol
What is the easiest way to know if vcore is short?? And also cpu is short?
