Great performance and definitely the best looking violinist I have seen.
Nice to see audience enjoying the music and not standing there holding mobile phones up.
Roy Orbison, along with The Beatles and Del Shannon, were Jeff’s top 3 influences according to him. Jeff discusses his admiration of Roy endlessly.
....and a dream come true to work with all three. :)
And I bet Del would have been in Wilburys if he was still able to sing/play at the time but did get to write/produce for Del before his death in 1990.
You are right about the Roy Orbison thing. I never thought of that before!!
Best concert ever. The sound is so faithful to the originals. Jeff was the premier producer. Love you reactions.
You are a sweetheart! Yes Roy Orbison is one of his stated favorites and one Jeff looks up to, or did. He really misses him. Good catch.
The Beatles being his other so big favorite. Of course!
Great reaction video. And I am so happy new generations are discovering this masterpiece of a band and musical genius, Jeff Lynne.
Watch the flashmob video of ELO's All Over the World at least twice and TRY to stay sitting down LOL.
Despite Jeff s self confessed love of the Beatles he has always stated that Del Shannon and Roy Orbison were his earliest influences. Jeff said when he first heard 'Only the Lonely' as a 14/15 yr old it made the hairs in the back of his neck stand up and it started his interest in production as he wanted to know 'how did they do that with the backing vocalists, orchestra sounds etc.!!
Roy Orbison had an influence on just about every Rock and roller you got to remember Roy Orbison started very early in the rock and roll days he's considered one of the best voices in the early Rock era and he wrote his own songs
I agree 100 percent aloha
I love all the songs electric light orchestra
Oh man, I wish I was at that show. So amazing
Seems like everyone was having a great time, notice no cell phones its a beautiful thing.
Thanks for reacting to this classic performance. The whole concert is just superb. And talking of Roy Orbison, when ELO play The Travelling Willbury's 'Handle With Care, Iain Hornal, who is the backing vocalist, comes to the front of the stage to play guitar and sing Roy Orbison's part, which he does brilliantly, hitting those notes and sounding exactly like Orbison. It's one of the few concerts I've seen recorded that make me jealous I wasn't there to witness it in person. The recording of the concert is top notch, with hit after hit sounding even better than when they were recorded, which is down to Jeff Lyne's genius, and his ensemble of 12 amazing musicians, who are clearly all big fans of his music, and who each get to shine throughout the show. Cheers!
I have this Live at Wembley that I watch all of the time.I love ELO.
Unequalled effortless class.
I was lucky to have seen them in 79 or 80...fantastic performers (special love for Bev Bevan). If the tour any time soon, I’ll be there, hopping out of my wheelchair! 💃🏻
Love seeing all my old folks (my age) enjoying the concert.....all these years!
Jeff said he dreamed thi lyfics in this song , got up and put it together.I love it.
Second? How did I get here ? Hi Harri 👋. That whole tour was amazing. Modern sound technology is finally catching up with ELO’s sophistication. And yes, Jeff Lynne’s vocals were in fine form.
I saw them several years ago. Easily one of the top 3 concerts I’ve been to, out of the hundreds of shows I’ve seen. Hit after hit after hit. Musicians were top notch performers.
Jeff is still writing and releasing music and just recently announced he has been working on some new songs, just a timeless genius
I'd very much like to read that "recent announcement", please post a link. Thanks.
The violinist is gorgeous, and she sure can play!
This guy is a Genius
Best live band ever!!! Long live Jeff Lynne!
Hey brother, any news of a new album or tour coming up?
We were lucky enough to see ELO live at the Tacoma dome the summer before covid hit…it was amazing! Truly the experience of a life time.
Pure Gold!
great reaction. the Orbison reference blew me away....I know alot of music history...the family tree of music etc..but never fathomed the Roy Orbison influence. don't slap me cuzi already did! again great reaction! keep on keeping on Harry!
Brilliant
I saw ELO in 2018 on their Hamburg, Germany gig. The Hamburg audience usually isn't very enthusiasm - but this concert was special. From the first song everybody was singing and after "Shine A Little Love" we had a fantastic party.
My favorite ELO song.
My 24 year old son and I saw Jeff Lynne live a couple of years ago in Tampa Florida. I shelled out quite a few bucks to get us great seats, 11 rows from the stage just right of center. Worth what I paid and more!!
Thanks! This is, indeed, astonishing.. check out that crowd (yep, I'm in that age group.. old.. lol)... Jeff is awesome... just about 70 yrs. now? he is genius... one of his greatest talents was writing and arranging music for entire orchestras.. but then you can't ignore that voice and guitar talent.. I think he's been under-rated throughout his whole career! Always like your reactions!
77 this year born the same year as me .Sounds great does Jeff.
My all time favorite band. I'm also jealous of all those people there. That is one of my life's regrets that I never seen a live show of ELO.
Same here. I hope he does another tour and maybe, just maybe hits SoCal. It's a symphony/rock show.
I don't go to concerts anymore, but I would go to this.
I saw ELO in Detroit a couple years ago!
Fantastic show and energy!
Jeff assembled an excellent band to tour with!
Now that’s music. Today’s just not the same all you have to do is sample and push a button. Question where are all the talented musicians today?
70"s was the greatest bands
I'll take a dollar a head for the crowd that's here. lol
I was there that day - it was huge in every way
His voice is perfect live. Amazing pitch.
Thank you Harry this was an incredible performance. This song gives me chill bumps every time I listen to it!
Nobody ever mentions that Jeff appears to be immortal.
wow, the influence of Orbison is definitely there, nice insight Harribest, love this band and this song, Jeff Lynn is amazing!!
Was a HUGE ELO fan back in 8-track days ...always a fan of the orchestral -type band , like ELO , Moody Blues , Chicago ..etc. Folk are realizing those talented groups all-over again today ...
Fantastic song Cosmo! I love your requests. This band doesn’t have any disappointing songs! 🌺✌️
Thank you, Debbie! Plenty more to come! :D
dont let this music be forgotten ❤
I was at this concert at Wembley and it was everything you said ,just a magical moment
A great song! A truly great band!
The most under-rated group ever
Everyone on that stage (I won't list them all) was absolutely killing it and having a blast with the crowd. Another reason I preffer a "good" live performance over the studio version.
I really love your reaction to this one. Never seen this live performance before..thank you.
Your analysis was spot on!!.
Great call on the Wembley performance Cosmo! I saw Jeff in July '19, at the Chicago show, and it was the best decision ever! I can die happy now lol And you're correct Harri. The absolute joy that Jeff elicits from his fans, is something to see. They, (and we at my show) were transported! 💕
Thanks! I'm stoked we won the appeal, because it was blocked when Harri originally tried to post it a month ago.
Glad you got to see them in Chi-town, I'm hoping he tours after Covid (whenever that is).
Great performance!. Love this song. You're right about seeing a live band you've loved for years, transporting you back to your youth. It really does make you feel young again.
Wow Harry I just watched this the girl at the beginning with the violin is amazing this is an amazing version of this song. I saw them right before Covid in Columbus Ohio and it was so good. I’m so thankful I got to see them.
i was there june 2017at wembley,, heavenly
I was lucky enough to see ELO a few years ago and it was a stunning show! I think that if musicians are really good, they always sound better live.
There are only a few bands who can say, their fans spread over a range of 50 years or more. Respect, altough Jeff was the last remaining original member. To be honest, Rosie Langley on the strings sounded better than in the original version.
To think anyone could perform a 40 year old song this well at 70 years old is amazing.. This is Jeff Lynne's ELO... After winning the legal battle against the former drummer Bev Bevan who had used the Electric Light Orchestra name after the band broke up in 1986. Jeff said, “I named it that ( Jeff Lynne's ELO), because it's always been my ELO,”. Jeff Lynne and keyboardist Richard Tandy are the only official members of the band. Former cellist Mike Edwards, died instantly at age 62, from a freak accident in 2010 when a bale of hay rolled down a hill and crushed his van, is the only former member to die so far.
The backing band are the same guys who play live for Take That. The on vocals and acoustic guitar beside Jeff, is Mike Stevens. The bass player, Lee Pomeroy, is currently out on your playing bass with Rivk Wakeman
i was lucky enough to see them a couple years ago in Philly. Jeff is a treasure
Like Orbison, Jeff Lynn has a great voice with the high notes, no falsetto. Everyone of the performers is as happy to be there as the audience. And you were right on the head about the audience going back in time and forgetting the bad things that may be happening.
What an amazing band they are
This was my favorite song as a Freshman in HS. Fall, 1976.
Harri you have to check out 'You Got It' and 'A Love So Beautiful' written by Roy and Jeff and produced by Jeff.!! And 'I Drove All Night' for Roy's soaring vocals and last hurrah and Jeff s brilliant production.!!
I have to add “Not Alone Anymore” by the Wilbury’s!
And You Got It.
Seen them in Liverpool a couple of years ago, and missed this song due to a call of nature, ha ha, Still rocking as good as ever!
The master at work Harri. Thanks to you for a wonderful reaction and to Cosmo for another stellar recommendation. 👍😊
This entire concert was amazing! ELO was my second favorite band after Journey.
I have to subscribe to your channel. You take me back to better days with your reactions. Thanks my friend
You won't regret Subscribing--Harri's the guvnor, he is.
Like a fine wine Jeff seems to get better with age..
Class😊
Fabulous.
Gosh I love this!!!!❤
I see the Orbison influence now that you mention it. I met Roy once, carried his bags as a bellboy at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto a long time ago.
I was at that wembley show June 24th 2017
So lucky 😎👍💯
Harri, Jeff Lynne has actually never stopped writing music. It is true that his albums don't produce the hits that they used to, but some of the songs still do make the charts. The last song Jeff did that made it to the charts was "When I Was A Boy." ua-cam.com/video/tM34A80RTv4/v-deo.html
Yea, ELO
Harri, thanks for another stellar reaction! Great to see your expression when they showed that shot from behind the stage looking out over the 70,000 people! What a phenomenal event, how I wish I could've been there! Oh, and by the way...Jeff actually did put out two new ELO albums in the last 7 years, one in 2015 and one in 2019. I'm working on submitting a song from one of those albums, so you'll be reacting to it soon. :)
I cannot believe you picked up on that nice catch
Wow been a while
Yes I smiled!
All ELO is a must react to Live!
love it
Their live performances are always well produced. I saw them in 2019 and they are still great. This was 2017 and Jeff turned 70 that year. Orbison was an influence and when they became friends, I heard Jeff mention in an interview how he learned some things from Roy. You should check out the song When I was a Boy, from the album Alone in the Universe (2015). They also released another album in 2020 titled From out of Nowhere.
Close to perfection !
Harri I’m finally seeing them live in April with my youngest daughter who’s 16. She loves them so who better to take to the concert. 👍🥰
Hi Helen, where did Jeff play in April? How was the show?
The violinist is Rosie Langley. Her sister Amy is one of the Cellist's
The very talented Melodie West- McDonnell is one of the backup singers.
I think Jeff was in his 60s in this concert .ELO has to be experienced live.
69, just a few months shy of 70.
Wimbley or Bust 2017 concert was the best ! It's almost this band has been around since the early 70s and still playing like this .
All those ELO reactions and no roll over Beethoven, shame, theirs is by far the best version of the song and one of the best songs of all time and the best thing that they did IMHO !
i remember when we rocked out to that song on the deck of our boat in hawaii, in the 70s, such joy.
@@kentclark6420 Kauai no ka oi ! Kamaaina here, 87-97. Rocked out to Roll Over many times myself, it's on my all-time favorites forever list. Aloha nui loa !
It's coming, Tim, in April.
I definitely hear a Orbison influence. Great reaction Harri!
Thanks Cosmo & Harri....glad to see a reaction to some later live performances.
With pleasure. :) I'm glad we got it through on appeal--you see, originally it was blocked about a month ago.
@@Cosmo-Kramer I guess that's why I don't see many like this...most don't want to put the effort into the appeal. Thanks to both of you for the effort!
@@Fatty.D.McButterpants You're most welcome. Hey Fatty, you never got back to me on your locale & gender. Maybe you didn't see it. But if you did and don't want to answer, that's totally cool. Just a curiosity--I love your handle. lol
@@Cosmo-Kramer Sorry, never saw it...I'll blame youtube. Male, mid-Atlantic USA, and actually a bit on the skinny side in spite of my handle, lol.
@@Fatty.D.McButterpants Gotcha. So it's an ironic handle. lol
Well Jeff Lynne actually did produce one of Roy Orbison’s last hits….”You’ve Got It”….
He also co-wrote it.
Roy wanted Jeff to produce his album, and tried to call Jeff, but he was convinced that someone was messing with him, that there was no way that Roy Orbison(one of Lynne’s biggest heroes) would be calling him. Finally Roy’s wife called and convinced Lynne that Roy really did want to talk to him.
Seen an interview before this Jeff was worried no one would turn up
He was joking, all the tickets were sold so of course they were gonna show up.
ps~"Saw", not, "Seen".
😀 thank you
I’ve followed ELO since 1975 and only got to see Jeff play in 2017 and again in 2019 (though I did see the rest of the band as ELO Part 2 in ‘96). His recent tours have been awesome and captured the feel of the recordings perfectly. Yes he doesn’t say alot on stage, reflecting his modesty and possibly shyness, but lets his music do the talking. You’re comments are really interesting and perceptive so keep up the good work from Cosmo’s recommendations.
Right on! That's when I started, with, Face The Music!
@@Cosmo-Kramer Yes, my first album after buying Evil Woman. I’d followed Roy Wood and Wizzard prior to that and didn’t realise Roy and Jeff’s connection until later after I got some Move records.
@@flanflinger37 It was a great time to fall in love with the band, because there were great new albums yet to come out, and older ones we could go out and buy.
Like many people I had a ticket to see ELO at the O2 in October 2020. Here's hoping they put the tour back on. (Santana too, grr.)
Lots of great videos from these Wembley concerts on UA-cam!
It was a brilliant concert. I was 10 rows from the front. You must check out 'Wild West Hero'.
Fantastic seen ELO at the 02 you really should react to Music John miles very uplifting you will not be disappointed
Rosie Langley has five strings on her Violin. Even Johnny only had four.
I was there.
Very astute Harri to see Roy O reincarnated.( almost )😊Jeff Lynn s a musical genius himself but yes Jeff sure does demonstrate the influence of Roy O. 👍
