A 70 year old singing 40 year old songs and 60,000 people are still turning up to hear it…………..! Props!
Sends chills up my spine. I'm 64.
@@rdmineer1 Ditto, and I wish I was only 64 😄
ELO is definitely an attitude rather than a style, a song doesn't have to be "soul" to contain it, they are multi/cross genre.
Keep in mind, Jeff Lynne is around 70 in this performance. How many 70 year olds can still churn out such brilliance that age? One of the most deserving bands ever to be inducted into the Rock Hall! Test drive Turn to Stone from the same concert.
Jeff Lynne is genius. I don't throw that word around much. I really don't.
Jeff is amazing still and another guy older that still has is the Red Rocker Sammy Hagar, he still can sing like he is 20. Even better now.
Classical composer. That's Rosie, her sister, Amy, is Cellist on the left.
Pure genius. Loved this band from the beginning.
Just like a fine wine, gets better with age.🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷
ELO is just the sound of my childhood. Every song is a singalong and makes you feel overwhelmingly happy. Mr Blue Sky is one of my all time favourite songs and I love that it gets airtime on the radio in the UK every year from May, all through Summer.
Mr Blue Sky was voted by Rolling Stone magazine as the number one uplifting song,a readers vote.
That’ll do for me.
I was 22 when this dropped.
Damn,I miss those years.
Amazing song!!! 🫶👍😽
Yes just played this album over and over doing my homework as a 8th grader when it came out in '76 and got me to discover ELOs previous albums with Eldorado bring one of my faves.
Mr Blue sky is fantastic, totally right in every way.
The beautiful lady with the violin is Rosie Langley, a beautiful rose on stage.
The band is older than she is, lol!
A ridiculously talented man. I have loved every single thing he has ever done. Thanks for this...😊
yes this is what ELO does. They bring pure joy into the world and they always have. Thank god for ELO
The skill, talent, musicianship………haven’t heard this in decades and I still remember every note and lyric………the very definition of great music. Thank you. Timeless. Great reaction. Welcome to great music.
Jeff Lynn is one of the best writers and performers ever ....wonderful melodic feel good music . Love him xx
Can you imagine how it feels to be singing your song and thousands are singing along knowing how much pleasure you have provided to the world! Love Jeff Lynn and ELO. Love your reaction, thanks for sharing.
If everyone had to listen to some ELO every day, the world would be a nicer kinder place
LOVE ELO..THEIR TALENT SURPASSES ANY BAND FROM THE 70’S TO THIS DAY. GREAT REACTION, SALVOG 🥹🩵
ELO is the best ever musically. Awesome symphonic Rock!!!
I've been feeling rather overwhelmed today. What better than Electric Light Orchestra to lighten my mood and take a break! One of their best songs...
I love you, Brother. Not afraid to be yourself and show emotions and a "Big Love" for great, old rock& roll! You're the best!
YES!!!
A couple of ELO "ballads" that come to mind are "Can't Get It Out of My Head" and "Telephone Line".
Arguably one of the most preeminent musicians in rock history!!! Every bit as impactful today as when it was written
Saw them on this tour and what a great night.
I saw people in the crowd with tears rolling down their faces as they were transported back to the best days of their lives,me included.
We seen them a coup,e of years ago in Birmingham , NEC, Jeff’s home town … brilliant night .. looked to my right .. a guy sat on the steps .. head in hands .. crying shaking his head… not believing what he was seeing /hearing
I got into ELO when I was a young teen..I bought the ELO album "Time" as one of my first records because I liked "All Over the World" (having heard his other hits from the 70's on the radio) and loved it....Jeff Lynn still sounds pretty damned good!!! ❤🫶👍🎵
You really need to try and watch the full concert at Wembley. You will not be disappointed. My favourite concert of all time.Jeff Lyn is such a multi talented man.
I love watching the crowd. It is obvious they are absolutely thrilled to be there!
I believe those are the Langley sisters, Rosie on violin and Amy on cello. New ELO and old ELO are both worth a look. My fav group that I started loving back in the 1970s.
Thanks for the ID. I'd been wondering who the cellist was. Both are gorgeous.
There are 2 on cellos who is the other one?
@@Terri6868 I knew them from other videos but don't know about the other members so here ya go: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Electric_Light_Orchestra_members
Yup. The sisters do some amazing stuff, including some amazing takes on old WW2 era stuff. Stunningly good looking and amazingly talented.
The wonderful Jeff Lynne. Love it!!!
Look at that crowd. A smile on every face !
I was so lucky to have this growing up in the 70's, like most of the folks in the audience, it seems :) As with so many other artists from that time, it appears to be timeless, at least in my lifetime! Good journey...Peace!
ELO are my all time favourite band. And yes, all their (well Jeff Lynns) music brings joy, even the slower ones. "Stange Magic" "I Cant Get It Out Of My Head" 💕🎼🎶
I can only imagine standing on that stage at 70 years old, playing a song 41 years after it was released and still having that kind of a crowd jamming to it. Not to mention the fact that he still sounds like he did 41 years ago. Oh and the violinist was great too.
One of ELO's great ballads is called "Can't Get It Out Of My Head" and it was also performed live at Wembley Stadium and I would highly recommend a listen!👍
I was very lucky to grow up the 70s . Best decade of music
"Fire on High" is a must!
It's not just the audience having such a GREAT time-- the band is loving every minute of it as well!
Jeff Lynne and ELO has transended time to be included in today’s music top tier list, going well beyond many of their contemporaries. As for a ballads, try the hits Telephone Line, Can't Get It Out Of My Head, and Strange Magic in that order.
He did Telephone Line a little while ago.
Yes,yes, yes, you got it.ELO is a sound of joy. Thanks for that. Evil Woman should be next💕💕🎶🦋
I enjoyed your reaction to one of my all-time favorites!
You want a slower-paced song? I highly recommend "Can't Get It Out Of My Head."
That concert was a sell out at Wembley stadium football stadium that is he had a few dates at the same place all sell out's it not called ELO today but Jeff Lynne's ELO with different band members and backing singers, but still sound amazing as they did years ago.
This is music of my childhood and I think you can agree that their music is quite timeless. it's why you see people of all ages in the audience. Their music hits everyone in special ways and you always wonder what sort of masterpiece Jeff is cooking up in that brilliant mind to offer the world next. The best ballad arguably that they have done is one called "Shangri-La". "Shangri-La" is a hauntingly beautiful ballad (not necessarily a power ballad) and I think everyone should hear this masterpiece of a song.
"Cant get it out of my head" might be what you're looking for; probably my favorite if that's possible. Great reaction !
Probably my favorite video of this song, seeing the older crowd out jumping around and singing! A great bunch of artists!
If you can watch rhe whole programme.Such a joy.Younger gens heard this from their parents and came along.💕
Just seeing your reaction a year later, but yes, you captured it. THE JOY.
I was so excited at finding this concert last year that I ordered the whole cd set off EBAY. A top purchase. 🎉
"Big Wheel" by ELO is a slower song and ballet. It's my all-time favorite from the band. It's FIRE 🔥!!! And it's very deep. It's about self-inventory and after loosing everything, starting all over in your life from scratch. Really really emotional because I was homeless 9 years ago and now I'm in my own home, living life to its fullness.....Praising God and wonderful beautiful people like you who help me put my life together ❤ but kept me from homelessness. So, this song is very special to me and I request you react to it and pay close attention to the lyrics. Thank you for all your heart felt reaction. ❤ Love & Peace ✌...Anthony.
I'm enjoying your reactions. Keep doing the ELO songs. you've got a ways to go. There all good. I can't wait to see you do Don't Bring Me Down. It's a bit more 'rocking' than his others. 👍
Wembley was a wonderful concert. The whole thing is on You Tube and is completely wonderful. ELO is really there even thru the most technical bits!!!!!
I'm in that audience. Black ELO t shirt, next to the missus with her yellow top. I can't see me. Can't you? Great concert
Jeff Lynne and ELO are just exceptional and unique, no matter what you watch or listen to by them. I remember buying Out of the Blue with my pocket money (saved up) and being blown away!
Another good song by them is..Sweet Talkin Woman! ❤️♥️😊😎
Also..Strange Magic for a slower song!❤️♥️😊😎
In case you do not know, The lead singer of ELO was also in the Traveling Wilbury's. alongside Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, George Harrison and Bob Dylan. Jeff Lynne. Any of their songs would be a fine Use of Your Time.
First, for the first time! I had a ticket for ELO at the O2, 2020. Cancelled obviously, never put back on. In the last few years I've seen a few acts off my wish list , but Jeff remains near the top.
As to slower, you could try a later song, Ticket To The Moon (though I don't think you'd find a live version). Another one from A New World Record, that might be considered a power ballad, is Shangri-La. (Strongly suggest the studio version of that, for reasons which will become clear.), The whole Wembley concert is amazing and I'm so jealous of those people in the audience.
This was the theme song for the TV show, "Wide World of Sports."
Lovin’ these 70’s bands, huh! We told ya!!!
Knowing the studio version makes this performance that much better. But it's just awesome to watch either way.
ELO is extra-celestial special .. 🌙🌟💫⭐️💫✨
My favorites are TIGHTROPE & TELEPHONE LINE ☀️
Jeff Lynne, Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, and others perform "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the 2004 Hall of Fame Inductions. Jeff also has some great performances with Eric Clapton.
The violinist in this version is Rosie Langley, she has performed several concerts with Jeff
... and on the original recording it was Mik Kaminski.
I’ve always appreciate the music of my youth. Watching it through your eyes is making me fall in love with it again. Thank you.
I remember fighting with my brother over their double album and the "Space Ship Mobile" Been listening to them for 40+ years!! ❤
Your happy reaction makes me smile. It's a joy to watch you feel what we all felt from them. Not just happy feet but happy all over.
Gracias por tu reacción ❤
Aunque, no está la banda original, Jeff Lynne lo supera todo!!
Más de 50 años escuchándolos... simplemente ELO, el más fiel Rock Sinfónico ❤❤❤❤❤❤
This song is from the 1970's, and Jeff Lynn is in his 70's while singing this. I've been listening to ELO for about 45 years. My favorite band.
Another 70yr old here bopping around to ELO, one of my faves.
72,and can’t sit down, for this one,and sing along to them all.
This is what I'm thinking; you were experiencing the emotion of what this song means to so many people, and in particular, those in that audience. It was an era defining song, right along with "More Than a Feeling" by Boston. The radio was on fire with these guys, and man, so many great songs.
Wow I thought I was the only one that liked this song. This crowd went wild! What a beautiful thing to see and hear. I'm 64 years old. This song got me down off the ledge many times over the years. Yeah there is magic in this song.
"Strange Magic" and "Can't Get It Out of My Head" are slower ballads. Take a listen, also, to "Concerto For a Rainy Day" from the album Out of the Blue.......stellar stuff
OMG , I love E.L.O. They’re magic …. Love, love love them ❤❤❤
Love, love, love this song. Great atmosphere and can you imagine being in that crowd? Seeing a band live…this is an extreme example of how great it can be. 👍
Talent throughout this awesome band. 70s were great
It IS splendid. How can this not make you happy? You're my go to. Thank you for your in depth reviews.
Great reaction, one of my favorite songs, equal to Turn to Stone ~~
OMG OMG OMG 🤩💓 My brother just bought tickets for us today for ELO in Chicago in September! I am so excited I can hardly stand it!! I'm going to be like a kid waiting for Christmas for the next 6 months!!!
Always one of my fav bands. They really are magic.
Watch the 2023 performance of this in San Diego. It is killer!
I've been listening to this for as long as I can remember. Puts tears of joy and nostalgia in my eyes every time
Enjoyable reaction. Evil Woman from Wembley is worth checking out. And Roll Over Beethoven live versions rock out.
Oh man, everything they did was good. "Telephone Line" falls in with the slower mood you are looking for. Also a couple of my favorites "Mr Blue Sky" and "Last Train to London". But man, anything they did was fantastic.
My husband and I saw them when they played in Tacoma (WA) in 2019…it was incredible! They sound even better live than on their recordings. It was a magical experience.
Personally, I always prefer a studio version of ELO stuff. But it is certainly fun to see them live once in a while. The PURE JOY of the audience was just so moving.
This specific concert was as good as anything done in the studio.
I saw ELO in concert in 1981. Still remember that concert as one of my favorites!
Even the likes of "Turn to Stone" and "Tightrope" which have darker lyrics are still quite joyous to listen to .
Great reaction for a amazing song! They had plenty of ballads, check out Telephone Line, Can't Get It Out of My Head, and Loser Gone Wild. And don't sleep on their songs from the Xanadu soundtrack - The Fall and Don't Walk Away are beautiful ballads.
He did Telephone Line not too long ago.
🇨🇦 Also, the freedom and excitement given to music from 1963 - 1988 has, and still is, sustaining musical excellence, even today !
que placer me sigue dando escuchar a Jeff y su inmenso talento!!!!!!!!!!! gracias Jeff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am glad you're doing your thing with elo. I like your intelligent approach without the goofiness that others do. I feel so lucky to have grown up from 1975 thru 1985. The music was crazy good.
That was the legendary Jeff Lynne, master guitarist and lead vocalist. One of those whom everything he touches turns into gold. Next up…Don’t Bring Me Down…please!!!!!
Turn To Stone too.
Their performance at Glastonbury Festival a few years ago was amazing.
Young and old came together for a common love...
ELO!!
I loved your reaction to this. You get it. ELO is very special. Most of their songs are upbeat, happy and good feeling now. I saw your reaction to telephone line which is a slower one of their songs but still somehow makes you feel good. Their slowest song is " can't get it out of my head " I think. But they are known for having one of the happiest songs of all time that was made popular by Guardians of the Galaxy Mr. Blue Sky. I will play yellow albums all day long and keep me in a good mood no matter what song it is of theirs
Mr. Blue Sky is my favorite. Can't stop smiling as I sing along.
Jeff Lynn knew exactly what he was doing when he put Rosie Langley on stage……
This is Jeff lynne's ELO "modern version tour ".The original members "Bev Baven , Richard Tandy and Roy Wood " should be in the mix here with the reaction's. Inducted into the Hall of Fame, they're addition to the band provided that ELO sound and 70s nostalgia that we all love from the band. 👍
You've already heard the Moody Blues, so you know that orchestral rock was a thing. I'm not sure who officially started the trend, but the Beatles, for instance, used strings in some mid-60s songs ("Eleanor Rigby," etc.). The "Days of Future Passed" album and Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale" came out a little later, in 1967. "Baba O'Riley," with its violin solo, came out in 1971. ELO was building on that sort of history in rock.
Just read that Jeff Lynne will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this week!
Not a power ballad, but a killer jam. Check out "Fire on High". You've probably heard part of it but didn't know who it was. Now you know!
Jeff Lynne is a Maestro. He has written and produced his own music and for many other artists.
As others have mentioned, Jeff is almost 70 here, and he is and has been over the past 50 years or so, nothing short of a musical genius. Yes, they have every manner of type of song. You should listen to Concerto for a Rainy Day, maybe split it up, but it has 4 songs from Out Of The Blue and they are stunning. Summer and Lightning is my favorite but many would say Mr. Blue Sky (scientifically proven to be the happiest song ever lol). Honestly, any ELO song you choose will be a winner. A New World Record is a great title for an album, and so was New World Record, another put out during the same period as this one.
How this concert you watched a portion of came to be was Jeff was interviewed on a tv show and someone asked if he would play a concert again (after many years not playing any more) and the suggestion got so much support, he agreed and did the Wembley stadium concert a few years ago. It sold out easily needless to say as people just love his music. He is so humble, he said he didn't know people would be interested in hearing him in concert when he was asked. Of course people were and are as long as he can sing like that.
You think his vocals are sweet here? Check out earlier videos or concert footage from his prime in the 70s. He had the sweetness along with the power of youth.
Great reaction.
Out of the blue is one of many favourite albums of mine from ELO
Great reaction! I am SO glad you’re going on the journey that is ELO! I knew you’d love them!
Out of the Blue is their double album, and when you get to it (although they are fantastic live at any age, I do recommend the studio version to hear their much younger voices and the stunning effects), I would recommend that you do the Concerto for a Rainy Day all in one long video. It’s best to listen to them in order and back to back - they flow from one to the next brilliantly. The Concerto starts with “Standin’ in the Rain,” flows into “Big Wheels,” moves into “Summer and Lightening,” and resolves in “Mr. Blue Sky.” It is a fantastic arrangement that will floor you!
I love ELO, they are everything great about the 70's summed up in their wonderful music. There will never ever be another decade like the 70's. You should also check out "All Over The World", very inspirational music.
ELO did the Xanadu Movie songs...I love them and Olivia Newton John.
Damn! we had some great music growing up!!! I love ELO too! It was tbe soundtrack to my youth and when i hear these songs im dropped back into the faces and places and feelings they werw a part of. This is very special music you are hearing.
The girl playing violin is Rosie Langley, she's not a guest but a regular, been with ELO since about 2016.
The Violinist is Rosie Langley. her sister, Amy Langley, is playing the Cello at the back, she is the one with the long hair.
This is so upbeat that somehow one gets teary with this song. It’s great that music can get you feel stuff.
Rosie Langley on Violin. She's playing in your "Telephone lines" reaction Video as well - just sitting down with the Cellists. One of cellists is her sister Amy Langley.
Who doesn’t love ELO? I’m 65 and I can’t play guitar or sing anymore. What a blessing we still have them. 🤘🏼❤️
I was able to see ELO at the Omni in Atlanta in 1978. I remember this song like it was yesterday.
