      Facts. Scalp sheds up to 100 hairs a day. If there is no combing, brushing or any means to rid shed hair, the amount of hair shed after removing 8 week old braids will appear significant.
      Shed hair will appear in longer strands because it is "shed" hair.
      In the case where Mercy's middle section is broken off, that looks more like breakage rather than shredding.
      It is true that hairstyles need to be switched up to allevuate over manipulation.

      If I go longer than 3 days without moisturizing by scalp and hair it will dry out and fall out my scalp like a plant. Unfortunately this happens often for me. My hair is not hardy like a cactus, it is more like a delicate fern and takes more maintenance than I would like.

      I was about to put this same thing. We often forget that our hair sheds everyday so if we go weeks without touching it, the shed hair is gonna look like alot once you finally do wash it. I had singles in for three weeks and when I took it down I thought I was going bald with the amount of shed hairs I had. I had to remind myself that it was normal.

    • @naughtysims30
      @naughtysims30 3 роки тому +7

      @@yakov7346 I would say 4 weeks at the most but that's just my opinion. It really depends on how your feeling like your hair is doing. When I put in my singles I wanted to keep them in for 8 weeks but I realized that I can't go that long without touching my hair. I wash my hair weekly to better keep track of my shed hair so going longer than two weeks was really hard for me. But really it all depends on what you are comfortable with. Back before I started actively taking care of my hair I used to wear singles all the time but I wasn't paying attention to shed hair or breakage. Now I just stick with twists and I keep them in for a week or two then wash and do it over

    Hey, Mercy. Just a little advice.
    1). Hair has memory. Anything left in for longer than 3 weeks starts to matte. I know you wanna see the new growth but consider taking it out, maybe after 4 weeks, and changing your braid pattern.
    2). Before you do aloe treatment, do protein like rice water or fenugreek tea. Leave that in, covered, for about 3 hours, rinse, and follow up with aloe treatment. This should prevent so much breakage. You'll lose some but not as much. Make this a part of your take-down routine. Then do your regular stuff. Lemme know how it goes. I'm on the journey with you all too. 🤗🤗🤗

    😳 I thought this was only me. I have armpit length 4C hair. I’ve been natural for about 6yrs. 2018 I tried to keep a braided style for 2 months. I had that much hair loss. Now I only do 4-6 weeks with any braided style.

    My Grenadian-American Father always encouraged me to use aloe. You can buy this in Caribbean/Asian/and even most supermarkets. HOWEVER, my Father grew a HUGE aloe plant in N.Y. on the windowsill in my parents’ principle bedroom with southern exposure perched on a shelf abt 6” over the radiator. Yes - you can grow it yourself but buy it also, until the plant matures. My husband and I are in Florida and he uses it on his skin. I do rate aloe for hair growth too! Enjoy! I ❤️these videos.

    To get more aloe I would blend the gel after scooping, then use a cheese cloth to get the most gel by squeezing it through the cheese cloth just so there is less wastage. Oh when removing the leaf from the aloe cut the leaf on the flat side and then scoop, it goes quicker.
