+iamthetarget52 When I met him, he was 13 years old and I was 17. I was doing donuts in a big block Camaro in the middle of the main street in Sanford NC. Being 13 I think he was impressed. I was good friends with his older brother also. Just so happens we are both from West Virginia, but 200 miles away from each other. Very good friend! I just wanted to barrow the suit!
I did a rental recovery on a Jeep in the river in Waipi`o Valley. The guy figured the ford was wide...WRONG. Left going in...Right coming out. I had to dive to hook up my drag line. I made $600.00 on that tow because it would have been a breach of contract...the Jeep wasn't supposed to be in Waipi`o Valley according to the rental agreement. Plus I got the Jeep running up @ the Lookout... Cool Recovery!!! Aloha
ya know...I have been fishing with danny for years...I never gave thought to using bigger tackle and him for bait....let me know if you see any full size trucks lurking in the water....
I was waiting for the ''reveal''......that moment when you opened the doors and all the fish swam out.....unless the car went in with all openings shut....then maybe the fish couldnt get in. I did a pond recovery once where the car spent the night in the pond and when we pulled it out next morning and opened the doors......fish. lots of fish. great vid. And as a side note, assuming that was 3/8ths, and its well maintained (which im sure it is) that cable could take the full weight of that car, suspended in mid air (minus the weight of the water of course) way before it snapped. In this situation, factoring in the grade of the shoreline, and also using one's senses (sound of the winch and its labor) I don't think there was ever a moment where that cable was in danger of failing, But safety is always important. im sure they were paying attention.
+Rusty “rustyglovebox” Glovebox It's a straight stretch with a turn at the end and a pond if you don't make the turn. It's a gated golfing community. Done a lot of weird recoveries in there. Has a SSR truck over a big ditch on top a 2 foot high stack of Rif Raff rocks. Still don't know how he got it there. No damage, but picked it up a month later totaled in a ditch. It was bright yellow. Fellow bought another one, it's purple, towed it the other day.
If you don't mind my asking. Is there anything salvageable with a car in the water?? like the engine tranny? just wondering if you at least got an engine or what have you
North Carolina Highway Patrol cruisers are the best looking state police cars there are. Well, unless it is in the rear view mirror with the blue lights on ha ha.
I wonder if the driver still had the insurance premium for what the retail price was? I've bought cars a couple of years old , and when I sold it 8 years later, it was still insurance for what I paid for it, even though it was only insured at market value and I sold it for about a third of what I paid for it, they never adjusted the premium once!
That guy from Maine didn't realize water, from time to time, goes from a solid state to a liquid state when it actually WARMS up. Dollars to doughnuts he was thinking of ice fishing the pond and wanted to stake his claim on the ice - er - pond water.......
Ok how the Heck did they get that far off the road???? There's a pond/Small like this near my home .It sets several yards from the road that runs by it.The city had to put up a double stacked guardrail and painted it a highly reflective bright yellow because of cars and trucks going of into it.But nimrods still go of the road and hit the guardrail and it's on a highly marked gentle curve and there's signs telling drivers the lake's nearby.
I have returned several fully submerged late model cars to service. one was salt water. it wasn't worth it, although it was done, took a loss. edit: For the owners, not for resale by me.
yeah but never know if cable may have a bad spot in it and shit just breaks for no reason. point is not to be in the path of cable ....you wont get a 2nd chance maybe.....atleast a person who cares about his well being......
The rescue swimmer had his wetsuit on BACKWARDS.. ROFLMAO. What? No mask? Guess it's hard to wear one of those backwards and smoke at the same time... GET ER DONE.
+TheCamshafter I did say usually. Sometimes exceptions are made for very high-value or very limited production vehicles and also vehicles that command very high prices as salvage for breaking. Or, at the very least, that used to be the case a few years ago, it wouldn't surprise me if the relevant agencies had changed the rules to enable insurance companies to make even more money. It would be hideous if flooded vehicles were being legally returned to the road as they will have major problems in the not-too-distant future...
gosportjamie check out SamCrac's videos on salvage auctions etc, quite common in America to see flooded cars (and blood cars) on sale for repair! Shocking really and there's shady practices going on with drawn on water lines too. Really knocked me sideways though seeing a blood car for auction with "vandalism" damage... That one had doors riddled with bullet holes and enough blood inside to make clear just what happened! :/
Any vehicle that is flooded is considered a loss and not resellable. Heard that some owners had revived their cars, but some others manage to get resold elsewhere.
I bet the guy was either drunk or stoned out of his mind......or gal. I noticed the car was from Maine too. Man, you was Lucky your friend came with wet suit on huh? That was Nice of Tim, is that correct?
+Danny Walker It was Danny in the water, you know how them Danny's are!! He's a hillbilly from West Virginia just like me. We are willing to try anything once and twice if we screw it up the first time. I have known him since he was 13 YO. He was also the Crane owner and operator at the Rat Rod build. He welded and cut some too.
I'm sorry. I spoke so bad of him.... Ijust thought it was a stranger that came into town and couldn't find a better parking spot is all. Sorry again, Jonathan
+Danny Walker Danny was the one in the wet suit. Didn't know the fellow driving. He could have been stoned or drunk. Tim has worked for me for years and is the one with the hat backwards. The driver was a stranger, but the diver was Danny..
You have good friends because you are a good friend!!!
Nice job. I towed for awhile and I got wet and cold but I never was underwater and cold.
I friend shows up in a dry-suit ... Now THAT is a friend.
+iamthetarget52 When I met him, he was 13 years old and I was 17. I was doing donuts in a big block Camaro in the middle of the main street in Sanford NC. Being 13 I think he was impressed. Legend has it that when he came out of the water his cigarette was still lit.
LMAO, I was wondering the same thing.
I hope you bought him a hot coffee.... good job...
very interesting job you have. I would love have it. good stuff.

Fishing for bumpers. I love it!!!
Billy Jack told me to drive it in the lake.LOL
another brilliant video was the driver just dipping his headlights thumbs up again
ya know...I have been fishing with danny for years...I never gave thought to using bigger tackle and him for bait....let me know if you see any full size trucks lurking in the water....
+michael lilly Fish don't like him, maybe the sharks at the coast..

+mustie1 If it was a double cab or a split window, I would have called you..
Hey man good recovery. FINS UP 👍 👍
+Eric Polston We could have used some fins today Eric!!
Great content, something different from working on cars. A nice change.
It was a very brave man that went down into that water, I'm not sure I'd have had the guts!!!
Thats a wetsuit. That guy must've been freezing!
Wow Maine Vetren plates, im from Maine I wounder if I saw that car before.

One Passat for sale. Just washed, may still be a little damp. Just a mop and brush, and off you go!
Reckon what the story was behind that parking spot?? Joy ride gone bad?? Turned out to b junk so ditched it to get out from under it?? Insurance job??
Mighty nice ceement pond you got there.
The story how the car got into the pond should be interesting... LOL thanks for sharing. Fred
+Fred Miller I think he either fell asleep or was texting. The last one in the same spot was a Cadillac SUV.
Just like the episode of the office, he was following his gps
Well that was different. Thanks the video. That was fun.
Those bubbles must be from the crank case and the gas tank
Looked like it was cold!
I think he went into the water with the cigarette in his mouth.
Zigzag water proof papers I suppose 😕
Is that at a curve or a funny place in the road if another car already did it. Bet that is a jolt hitting the water

Hey John after this was towed did it show up on Craigslist with "minor water damage"?
+Zazel Agiel I am sure there are folks that would do that, but this one went to the fire dept. to be cut up for training.
If you don't mind my asking. Is there anything salvageable with a car in the water?? like the engine tranny? just wondering if you at least got an engine or what have you

If that Passat wasn't worth shit before it certainly isn't worth shit now lol

Doors seemed closed. Did the driver escape? Great work, especially your diver.

+Tim Tingey Nope Magnet fishin!
How did the car wind up in the pond was the owner drunk ?
I think it's flooded!!
never stand near a towtruck when pulling that cable breaks you could be a sorry sucker quick
That ended quickly...did you fall in ?
yeah but never know if cable may have a bad spot in it and shit just breaks for no reason. point is not to be in the path of cable ....you wont get a 2nd chance maybe.....atleast a person who cares about his well being......

Is a pond car the same as a car that has had a fire...a total loss ?
Yes, a total loss for sure..
Jonathan W
In the UK flooded cars are usually classified as crush only, they can't even be broken for spare parts as they're considered to be contaminated...
+TheCamshafter I did say usually. Sometimes exceptions are made for very high-value or very limited production vehicles and also vehicles that command very high prices as salvage for breaking. Jonathan i would love to have a 41 chevy as a daily driver
