This is such a helpful video - I loved how you not only swatched each shadow but explained how you used each! This must have taken you a lot of time and thought and I definitely appreciate it. I must say that whatever you're using on your skin is amazing - very healthy and glowy looking.
Can't tell you how much I appreciate your constructive and specific feedback- thank you! It did take a long time, and my poor hand is STILL recovering from that many swatches (and removal of) in one afternoon! Thanks for the skin compliment- between teh facials and some lovely products, it really has never been better. Chuck some highlighter in too- and it's glow all the way! ; ) I really appreciate your comment, and wish you a beautiful day! x
Absolutely! I Have a couple that need doing- so will have to do a vid. But basically, it involves first removing the plastic round bit from the clamshell, then my favourite friend, isopropyl alcohol by using a pin to drop it around the pan inside the round plastic casing (loosens up the adhesive wonderfully!). then I place it on a straightening iron plate to warm the adhesive up further to loose, then use the pin to slowly work between metal pan and plastic round and wedge it up and out!
I can't believe how much effort and time you put into your videos. I really appreciate them. Gosh, this is like gold dust. You do all the testing for us and we get to pick and choose what we want to commit to money-wise. Thank you so very much
You gave me some wonderful recommendations! LOVE your color selection!! I need antiqued, cranberry, satin taupe, bronze, woodwinked and club! If Mac was opened right now I would go shopping. lol Gorgeous!!
I love Nylon for a highlight (NC20-25) and am old school in that I use a shimmery highlight under the brow, extended out, along with extending other shadows out wide - have always done this, it suits my eyeshape, and now it's coming back in style :-) Electra for a light blue shimmery grey all over the lid up to the brow. All that Glitters with Satin Taupe. Crystal for a subtle shimmery lavender.
MAC's Matte2 formulation is so much easier to work with than their regular matte finish. I wish they'd add to it rather than seeming to phase it out. I'm surprised more people don't have Brun and Typographic in their neutral/must have videos but I loved seeing your collection which has a lot in common with my "go to" collection. Thanks, jodi!
Depending on what a great highlight is to you, definitely check out Vanilla, Nylon, and Shroom. YOu can tell I love highlighters as Naked Lunch & Ricepaper are also lovely (and Carefree which is in the bigger, Pro Longwear pan- check that out)I have a soft spot for both Patina and Retrospek as subtle all over lid colours, and for matte brown, depending on the shade, really like Charcoal Brown, Wedge and Cork, just depending on what you're after (cont'd)
I find your videos really unique, so accurate, full of informations and great tips. You put so much effort and time in what you're doing and it's a pleasure to watch the results of that! Thank you! (I live in Italy and it's so strange hearing you talk about fall coming, while here it's spring...we are quite in the exact opposite spots on the earth!)
I'm glad to hear that Soph- I removed all my inserts the minute I got my MAC palettes- simply not roomy enough, although when someoe shows their palette with an insert in a vid- it looks so pretty! Just not practical enough for me! Is there a double sided MAC palette now too? I think I saw that at a store over east.
great selection Jodi; I love Shroom, Patina, Sable, Mulch, Club and Satin Taupe. Wish I could find a reasonably priced Aussie alternative to Shroom as I've hit pan!
Thanks so much! Will definitely do the rest of my MAC palettes- so interesting to hear what others like to use- would love to hear your favie warmer shades! x
sounds like a great recommendation thanks for that will keep an eye out for it. We can get Stila in Australia but it's very similarly priced to MAC unfortunately (close to $33aud for a single eyeshadow)
Hi there! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to write and let me know your thoughts and what you like / find helpful. Look out for more, and enjoy your spring! I must say I LOVE hot weather so will definitley miss our summer, but I really do enjoy putting on makeup when I'm not all sweaty and hot! A really really good silver lining!! Jodi xo
Can you get Stila in Australia? If so, their Starlight shadow is a better alternative to Shroom. It looks really peachy in the pan but applied, it is very much like Shroom but so much more "there". I have Shroom and struggle with it - either it doesn't show at all or it looks garish and frosty if I apply it more heavily.
Hi Jodi, I am planning to go to MAC soon, and I have some of the more classic/best sellers (Woodwinked, Satin Taupe, All That Glitters, and Amber Lights), and I'm looking for something else. Maybe a really great highlight or a matte brown eyeshadow. What would you recommend?
Hi Jodi, another great video thank you. If you have time, can you please tell me how to de-pot MAC eyeshadows? Happy Easter to you and your beautiful family xx
Thank you - thank you - thank you! I knew this vid was going to be fantastic ( I got my pad and paper and studied this as hard as a uni subject) I am now going to check your site for side by side swatches (hopefully)
You have a great collection of Mac eyeshadows. I took some notes and will be heading to the Mac counter tomorrow to purchase the eyeshawdows I liked. Your skin looks gorgeous. It's glowing... What are you wearing on your face?
Thanks SO SO much for that feedback. It takes a LOT longer to do that, and it's because I hope it's helpful- so to hear that it is, is FANTASTIC! Cheers for that xx. I'm going to give your combo a try- thanks SO much for sharing- I'm sure it'll work for my brown eyes too. Cheers on the elf palette info, thumbs upping in case it helps others too! Cheers, Jodi xo
Great video Jodi... Would love you do the same for your 'coloured' MAC collection. Was quite surprised to see that I had very few shades from your collection. I think my go to MAC palette leans more towards warmer less grey browns maybe....??
Just awesome...I can't believe your videos about MAC; they are SO interesting, not just helpful, but interesting. Your opinions are so strong and greatly explained. Keep posting them!
Jodi, I have a new one of the MAC palettes as well as a Large Black Z palette and I definitely think the MAC one is sturdier. They're both great but. Now you can buy the inserts for the MAC palette separately you can fit far more in!
hello and welcome! Thanks so much for watching, subscribing AND taking the time to write and say hi. I will definitely show you my other palettes, and thanks so much for the lovely feedback. Have yourself a beautiful day and don't forgot to say hi next time you have the chance- love to hear from you!! xoxo
thanks hun i am glad to hear they have them here :) do u know by any chance how much they would cost? btw u should do another video like this with your other mac eyeshadows this video is very informative and help in purchasing other mac shadows :) xx
Where do you get your Inglot products? I am in New Zealand and have some things I would like. I moved from the US last year and am having trouble finding certain things w/o paying heaps for shipping. You are in Aus?
hi jodi do u know if the new mac eyeshadow palattes with clear covers are available in Australian stores? because there not available on the mac website and i really would like to purchase 1 :)
Strange about the Matte2 isn't it? I do have them in my other palette, but they didn't make my everyday - couldn't tell you why!!! Will do some more vids with the other palettes too. Love to hear from you- thanks for taking the time! Have a great week xo
Thanks for the great video Jodi and for putting the pan with the swatches! so informative. I'm just about to do a big order from MAC and have not many neutral colours, so this was a lifesaver :) I'm similar in colouring to you and age, which is also so helpful! xx
i used to have red hair (like a blood red sort of colour with deep purple and fire red highlights) and Folie was the perfect brow colour. my eyebrows are naturally quite light - a mousey brown colour - and this just made them darker and more defined while adding a reddish sort of background tint to them to match my hair. so if you have red hair and want a natural brow that goes with your hair, Folie is the colour :)
Hey i recently subscribed 2 ur channel and i love it!! Ur accent is divine and ur videos r awesome and so informative! Wish i found u earlier. Would you please do this kind of video for all ur mac shadows cus ur swatches r d best i've seen and u explain everything so well. Thank u and keep going strong xxxx
Wow- thanks so much for taking the time to pass on taht feedback- I really appreciate hearing how it's helping, how it's being received, is it interesting etc.... Will do my other shadows by palette I think. Have yourself a beautiful day and look out for more, definitely! Jodi x
Hi and thanks for taking the time to say hi! I don't think you need to own any MAC and especially in Australia, the prices are ridiculous! It would come as no surprise to know that most of my MAC products were purchased in the states! I'm really lucky that I've got a great local store and at least half of the girls there are so sweet and friendly and kind and lovely. I know exactly what you mean though- MAC is a little notorious unfortunately. Not necessary!! YOU'VE made my day too, thank YOU! X
I'm not sure if they count for you or not, but if you're going and you're thinking highlight, definitely check out their pigments Vanilla & Naked (both beautiful and very versatile- just a matter of whether you can be arsed with something loose- but they're GORGEOUS!) XX Let me know how it goes- would LOVE to hear! x
Thank you so much for that feedback- takes AGES to do, so love hearing that it's useful! Have yourself a beautiful day and thanks for taking time out to write! xo
Rosie- thank you so so much for that, I really appreciate the acknowledgement- that it does take time and effort- lucky I love doing it and the thought that it might help! Your comment shows me it's working-= cheers for that! xx
Em just wondering if you can do a makeup collection video I live in Australia to and love watching your videos because you remind me of a really easy going nice family friend I know ,I am just a beginner in makeup and your videos help because, you show cheap makeup that can be used just as well as an expensive product as a lot of products in Australia are really expensive Lots of love, Layla😘
Seriously, they make it hard don't they? They are in some of the stores at least- I remember seeing them in the self-standing store at Bondi Junction- don't think I've seen them at my Myer counter store here in Perth... If you call a store, they should be able to tell you the easiest way to get your hands on it, but there ARE definitely some in Australia! ; )
This is such a helpful video - I loved how you not only swatched each shadow but explained how you used each! This must have taken you a lot of time and thought and I definitely appreciate it. I must say that whatever you're using on your skin is amazing - very healthy and glowy looking.

Nyx makes some really love shadows - totally agree!
Great video and collection of shadows! I liked that you explained how they can be used also.

Oooh - I would love this too! I don't use Club nearly often enough.
Your picture inserts of each eyeshadow are superb. Great video Jodi.

I love all of these colours!! Great job describing them. Very well organised video too. Thanks for your hardwork.

They do do a decent matte for the most part!
I like all the NYX dupes for MAC. I have a collection of both and they're all lovely. Great collection, Jodi. xo
OOooh, I can try, have never done that but I wonder if others have. I will have to do some research and get back! xx

Ooooh some shades in there that I'll have to go and check out next time- cheers for that! Love the sounds of those styles- thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you! It's Skin79 Chiffon BB Mousse, finished with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, and Warm Soul on the cheeks. Thanks for the compliment! xx

the price comparison between aust and usa makes me want to pull my hair out!
great video, must have been a real buggar to edit! thanks so much xx

Do you like the shade contrast from mac?
Which is truer to color? The video or photo coloring? They are quite different. Trying to choose for a gift.
Thank you, so kind of you to write! Have a beautiful day, Jodi xo

Thanks so much for that, I'd agree.
Thank you so much hon- totally labour intensive - lucky it's so much fun! ; ) Hope you're having a great weekend, x
Do you need those metal stickers for your mac eyeshadows so that they holds into z palette?
I'm not sure if they count for you or not, but if you're going and you're thinking highlight, definitely check out their pigments Vanilla & Naked (both beautiful and very versatile- just a matter of whether you can be arsed with something loose- but they're GORGEOUS!) Thank you so much! Really means a lot to hear that. Hugs xoxoxo
Oh my goodness- you are gorgeous. THANK YOU!!! XO
Good job in listing all eyeshadows A+++

Based on comparison to shades that I own, I would say the photos are truer to colour :]
