I LOVE how you include all variety of skin colours (i.e dark, medium fair) and possible alternatives in all your videos. You are the only beauty guru who ive come across who thinks about everyone. thank you so much, really appreciated. :)
Love all these colors and I have gone through like 6 Expensive Pink shadows, its my favorite too! Love all your tutorials and the great make up artist tips you give us. Your 'healthy life style' progress is very inspirational too. Keep up the awesome work.
This was the best mac neutral eyeshadow recommendation video I've ever seen. Too often, "gurus" say the same eyeshadows without any real justification on why they are worth buying. Thanks for the advice!
From various places on you tube (Christine of Pink So Foxy, temptalia, and others). 1. Nylon-nyx barely there. 2. Samoa Silk-Make up Geek peach smoothie. 3. Kid-make up geek latte. 4. Ground brown-make up geek mocha. 5. cork-cover girl swiss chocolate. 6.Woodwinked-nyx fantasy. 7. Satin taupe-wet n wild nutty, nyx iced mocha. 8. twinks-nyx volcano. 9. expensive pink-wet n wild penny. 10. All that glitters-nyx champagne. Hope this helps!
VERY USEFUL VIDEO MARLENA, THANK U! I AM ASIAN SKIN TONED AND HAVE ALL THE NEUTRALS YOU MENTIONED FROM YOUR PREVIOUS VIDEO 2 YEARS AGO I THINK & THEY ARE SUPERB AND SUIT ME PERFECTLY! THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING VIEWERS FROM OF ALL ETHNIC ORIGINS AS OPPOSED TO CATERING ONLY WHITE/FAIR SKINS! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK & KEEP SMILING DEAR!
I'm really pale and use Vanilla shadow (shadow, not pigment!) every single day, no matter what eye look I'm doing. It basically blends my eyeshadow for me; I put it on a 227 brush and go around the edges of my eyes and under the brow and it's like instantly perfect. I also use it under the eyes and it works as a concealer. It rocks, I can't live without it now! Other must-haves IMO: Satin Taupe, Cork, Concrete, Shroom, Woodwinked. A good mix of cools and warms that'd work great on everyone.
Marlena it was helpful to see your fav colors and even more helpful to know how and where you put them. I wrote them down and will put these ideas on my make up table. It is really helpful to know how to combine then with other colors and where best to use them. Thank you..more like this please
I love this video :) I usually turn to the Urban Decay Naked palette for neutral eyeshadows but I'm forever finding myself drooling over MAC neutral eyeshadows but can never decide which ones are the best and which ones I shouldn't bother with so this video was beyond helpful :)
Marlena you look soo beautiful in this video. Please do a tutorial on the look you are wearing here, i love the green shadow you have on. And you always guve out the best tips.
I wish this video came out like 2 weeks ago! I just ordered a bunch of eyeshadows for my kit and was looking for Makeup Artist opinions on what are the BEST shadows for my Mac palette. The only ones you mentioned that I don't have is simoa silk, satin taupe, and expensive pink! I'm going to go check them out tomorrow! :)
My favorite matte dark brown is Brun! I love it so much better than espresso. I originally bought it for my crease, but it totally saved my butt the time I accidentally waxed a hole in my eyebrow! Go out and get it Marlena, you will LOVE it! Great video! Keep up the great work :-)
Im obsessed with All That Glitters on my lid, and Brown Script in my crease. Or just use Sable in the crease but with All That Glitters still on the lid. Perfect for day looks! (:
thank you so much for making this video. i've never been in mac before, but my mom and i are going to mac around october. i always want to have a neutral eyeshadow and this is helping me out. thank you so much (:
i love this! you should like top ten for every color. like this is perfect to for a neutral palette. and you could help us out with like pink/red palette, orange/yellow palette, purple blue green, etc.. :)
I've been watching you for a while now and I just want to say that you are great Marlena! I know that when I see your new video show up in the Subs, it will be either a beautiful look or very informative. I want to say also I really like the zoom in cut on the eyeshadows. It shows what it looks like close up. I know Lisa Eldridge does the same thing and I'm glad that you have started to also. :)
i would looove if you could do more videos like this! say more dramatic eyeshadows or just ten shadows that are must haves and you could create any look with weather it be smokey, neutral, etc. it would also be kind of cool if you could do something like this for lipsticks, glosses, or just miscelanious items love your videos!! much move from canada:)
I think you have GREAT ideas and tips, tutorials etc. But, I find almost all of the colors you mentioned turn crazy peach, orange, yellow on my light/med warm skin. So, if anyone else has this issue try some different undertones in your basic shadows. I love brulee, omega, shroom, romp. sable, blanc type, dazzlelight, era and mylar. Just to throw out some options that are similar in effect to the ones mentioned for us warm toned gals.
Great vid- I have all of the colors that you mentioned, except for Samoa Silk- which I definitely overlooked on numerous ocassions. But, I am definitely going to try it out now. Thank you for the suggestions, Marlena! Please, do a top lipstick and lipglass video too:)
I'm so glad you posted this, I was just thinking about buying a matte brown eyeshadow from mac. (light brown) it'd be my first mac product, and I want it to fill in my brows. As soon as you showed cork, I'm pretty sure that is going to be the color! And it's very ironic considering my mom's nickname for me is cork! hah thanks marlena! have a beautiful day (: - courtney
Thank you so much for this. I'm just starting my make up collection and so glad that I am subscribed to your channel. I will definitely get these shades. Please continue to do videos.
I appreciate that these are your favourites but for me I found this list more of a what NOT to try from MAC. Would it be possible to suggest your Top 10 Neutrals for cool undertoned guys and gals? Thank you for another great video! Be well, Be Blessed.
Thank you for this vid....I agree, its overwhelming going to the Mac Website being a Makeup Newbie and havent had purchased Mac before but hear all the good hybe about it...This is nice to narrow down what I want to buy...:D
I like this type of videos, is like you mention on the video, I want to buy MAC eyeshadows but I really dont know what colors. Can you do a video with Expensive Pink? I'm always looking for neutral makeup for work. Thanks Marlena for all advises and tips.
With woodwinked I have found, you have to be careful. It turns different colors on different skin tones. On me it's more of a reddy brown and on one of my friends it's more of a copper brown. I have tried many bases under it but it always comes out redish on me. So just to warn some people who get this color and find it's not as neutral/brown as she says it is. :)
great video! the colors are beautiful! My favorite Mac eyeshadow is Style Snob which is a Starflash finish, unfortunately it was a limited edition shadow. I was told that Mulch would be similar. What do you think about Mulch?
thank you sooo much for this! i've been planning to go to MAC soon and didn't know what eye shadows to pick up! so far, i only have Prepped for Glamour, which i got at a CCO. I heard it's quite similar to Satin Taupe??
This video just came at the right time as I don't have mac where I live and I wanted to buy some mac neutrals over the internet.. this helped so much :) I also know that you love Revlon colorstay, and I am thinking of buying a mac concealer but i don't know if I should get nc20, nc25 or nc30. I am shade 180 sand beige in the oily / combination version of colorstay. I hope you can help me :) Thanks!
thank you for this :) my family is getting into the fact that i love makeup so, they wan tot know what i want. and this video helped me pick some great mac shadows :)
But what are the colors that you are wearing?! They're not neutral, but god, they're gorgeous! Since my skin, eyes and hair are similar to yours, I think that would suit me too.
I LOVE how you include all variety of skin colours (i.e dark, medium fair) and possible alternatives in all your videos. You are the only beauty guru who ive come across who thinks about everyone. thank you so much, really appreciated. :)
I love that you actually brought up some new eyeshadows and not only the ones that everyone else talks about.
Amazing how you can make a top 10 eyeshadows interesting. I honestly expected a boring list, but this was actually fun to watch.
marlena i LOVE that you include options and tips for people of all skin tones! youre amazing!
I like that most of these aren't the eyeshadows that everyone always talks about, it's nice to hear about the lesser known ones :)

Woodwinked is an absolutely amazing colour! Samoa Silk and Expensive Pink are favourites of mine, too
I'm really pale and use Vanilla shadow (shadow, not pigment!) every single day, no matter what eye look I'm doing. I LOVE EXPENSIVE PINK!! I feel like it is such an underrated color...no one ever talks about it!
this is a rally unique take on mac eyeshadows..usually other gurus pick the best sellers and the most common usual ones... thanks marlena!!
I love this video :) I usually turn to the Urban Decay Naked palette for neutral eyeshadows but I'm forever finding myself drooling over MAC neutral eyeshadows but can never decide which ones are the best and which ones I shouldn't bother with so this video was beyond helpful :)
DEFINITELY All That Glitters! It's SO gorgeous!!
Marlena you always know what your viewers want to see and make them love you even more. I really like this video and the top ten brushes as well :)

I love Expensive Pink. One that I think a lot of people overlook is Motif... it's so pretty!
I love how you make suggestions for all skin tones!

These MAC shadows are amazing. Can't wait to build up my collection.
This video has helped a lot.
I'm so happy you did this!!! Would love to see this on purples!!!
Im obsessed with All That Glitters on my lid, and Brown Script in my crease.
Or just use Sable in the crease but with All That Glitters still on the lid.
Perfect for day looks! (:

With woodwinked I have found, you have to be careful. It turns different colors on different skin tones. On me it's more of a reddy brown and on one of my friends it's more of a copper brown. I have tried many bases under it but it always comes out redish on me. So just to warn some people who get this color and find it's not as neutral/brown as she says it is. :)

Thank you! This is EXACTLY what I have been looking for.
But what are the colors that you are wearing?! They're not neutral, but god, they're gorgeous! Since my skin, eyes and hair are similar to yours, I think that would suit me too.
I can't imagine needing 10 neutral shadows like that. They all look the same to me!
