It's amazing how this movie can make a peacock of all animals so scary. I've always considered Lord Shen the closest thing DreamWorks has to Scar, Disney's best villain. He's cold, calculating, his past directly ties in with the protagonist's, and there's so much depth to his character, plus Gary Oldman's performance is impeccable. I also love Po's struggle to find his true self and inner peace, and that "Po Finds the Truth" sequence in the panda village is so beautiful, yet so heartbreaking.

But he gave up on it for being a "silly dream" and not for Noodle Chefs like him. But after Po proves to him that dreams can come true he chose to follow his dream as well.

It ties back to Mr. Ping’s lesson - “to make something special you just have to believe it’s special”. The mop isn’t special on its own but the people believe it is because it belonged to Po who many believe is special because of his Dragon Warrior title.

I like how Michelle Yeoh was correct both times, Gary Oldman _was_ defeated by a warrior of black and white, but his destiny ended up in his own hands. He chose to fight Po, he led to his own demise regardless of prophecy. A lot of people thought it was too big a coincidence that Po is in _two_ prophecies, but they're missing the point. The Dragon Warrior is a once in a thousand years savior, he comes when China needs him the most to save it from the most severe threats. This is still part of the prophecy of the first, this is just how fate wove him in to the fabric of their world.
Yeah the symbolism in this film is on point. During the segway/get ready scene. It shows po and shen in black and gray, then they reverse/swap places to the ying yang symbol showing they're the same but different. I love how reviewers think that fireworks are completely innocent. They're explosives. Over 10,000 people are sent to hospital with fireworks-related injuries every year in the USA alone. It isn't that hard to make fireworks dangerous; you just aim them at a person instead of the air.
I adore this movie. Even watching the reaction, the music gives me chills and the scene where it shifts between 2D and 3D makes me cry. These are truly BEAUTIFUL films. Honestly they were slept on when they first came out.
"How do you find some darkness in fireworks bruh" i mean that was the invention of gunpowder weapons that has revolutionised military technology ever since and led us to where we are now
Hans Zimmer and John Powell never miss when it comes the score. Undoubtedly my favourite of the trilogy, taking everything great about the first one and building upon it with a mature, heart-wrenching story, and probably Dreamworks' best villain.
Out of the (currently) three movies, this one is my favorite. Shen being a peacock makes for such an interestingly terrifying villain, especially when tied into Po's backstory. Plus the implications of his weapon being a worldwide threat being stopped right at the harbor is something to think about.

Interesting fact for mantis mating: if the male sneaks up on the female, he can jump on her back, mate with her and run away, meaning he can mate at least a second time. Another possibility is that the female may invite him over sort of saying "i may or may not eat you".
That beginning part, to answer your question "How do ypu see darkness in fire works?" Do you know what the main ingredient in Fireworks is? It's gunpowder.
Never noticed how much Shen is like Freezer. Feared an old provicy so he wiped out an entire planet. One of the only survivors grows up becomming a warrior without ever knowing about the villain. Even in the end when the hero offers to spare him he instead tries to kill him and dies as a result of his own actions.
This is my fave out of the trilogy! Dreamworks did not shy away from the mature and dark themes which brings such emotional and complex dynamics in the story. And the ost alongside epic and heartbreaking moments? Immaculate.
I've seen the movie(s) a few times over. I WATCH people's "Reactions" because I LOVE seeing folks' emotions/thoughts! So, I may arrive late (Sometimes YEARS late) to any video someone posts, but I'll still watch, like (Usually comment), and 'Subscribe,' just to show 'em my support and appreciation for their hard work! Thank you!
There's nothing I can say about this movie that hasn't alredy been said. Its a fun, emotional ride that takes everything people loved about the original and turns it up to 11. Also, props to Gary Oldman for making a freaking peacock scary as hell.
I can't remember their name, but someone does a deep dive into how the Kung Fu Panda series is so authentically Chinese despite being made by DreamWorks on YT. Someone else does how this movie in particular resonated with their imposter syndrome. Me, I think the Goat's lines after we see Po's memory will always be the heart of the movie. We can all choose who we want to be.
If you're interested in seeing giant pandas in person, you'll have to go to Zoo Atlanta in Georgia. As of this moment, I believe they have the last giant pandas left in the United States, but will be sent back to China within a few months. Jack Black actually went to the 100 day naming ceremony of one of the babies, and revealed that his name was Po. I think there's a video of it floating around on here still!
Surprised by this reaction. Also if you notice the Cannonballs Energy Trail changes from Red to Yellow once Po started Accepting what happened to him as part of his life and Shen was throwing Negative Chi (symbolized by red energy) and it changed to Positive Chi( Yellow).
I think both 1 and 2 are great. 1 for the surprise of how good it was for the absurd elevator pitch that it is but the 2nd one is my favourite for one simple reason; the villain. Gary Oldman killed it as Shen; intimidating but also funny in a way that broke neither the slightly silly world or took away from his malevolent vibe.
I love how persistent Shen being a Villain, no mercy and out of the box animals to be a main Villain, also love the story build up too, honestly it's perfect. But for action and fights love the first movie.
When I was a kid I saw this in theaters and thats one thing I love of dreamworks they know how to make characters feel powerful but not from their power but from their story and being someone who was adopted as a baby never knowing their biological family this hits a core in me as well just knowing somewhere you may find them, and its Emotionally Beautiful and Mature in its storytelling
Personally I believe that creating a playlist of series/trilogies makes me as a viewer much easier to watch, and to even find. Im much more interested and invested if it is sorted correctly. But that's just a personal opinion of mine, I do love structure and organization lol
An interesting system mell has on whether or not he will watch a sequel and react on YT. It’s practically the same concept filmmakers have on whether or not to even MAKE a sequel based on the success of the box office from their first.
My personal ranking goes: 1.Kung Fu Panda 2 2.Kung Fu Panda 3.Kung Fu Panda 3 For me, the second had the best fights, most heartfelt moments, and overall most mature story! I'm not all that hyped for a 4th entry because I felt the series took a step back in trying to appeal to a younger audience, tho I can't say I blame them, they just want to make a profit, it's understandable, but the second felt more aimed at young and older adults that loved the first film, and grew from there.
The original plan for Kung Fu Panda 3 was that it was going to be as mature if even more than Kung Fu Panda 2 with Mr Ping dying but Parents complained that Kung Fu Panda 2 & How to Train Your Dragon 2 were too and Dreamworks forced Jennifer to change Kung Fu Panda 3
I laugh every time Po says "false advertising" 😂😂 Also just because Po is the Dragon Warrior doesn't mean he's a better fighter than the 5. Tigress is the best fighter, Po can fight but his power is more inside of him than his actual strength. Who he is and believing in that is what makes him the Dragon Warrior. Only Po could master inner peace as quickly as he did, only Po could understand the Dragon Scroll & apply it. Plus come the 3rd film you'll understand him a bit more.
I like this movie the most out of all the Kung Fu Panda movies, so I'm glad you watched it. I love the different art styles incorporated in for different purposes.
This is the movie where i first time watched it in Theater and in 3D. It was totally worth it. Originally i was going to watch Transformers 3 (Also in 3D) but i choose watch Kung Fu Panda 2 despite already watch in pirated dvd. Even i already watch it,seeing it again in theater for the first time was truly a great experience and with 3D glasses (Yes,i wouldn't mind using 3D glasses,it's make the experience ten times better especially an inner peace scene or the time when Shen slice up Po,you can see Po's fur float).

I started watching your channel earlier this year and there are so many things I love about it. You have such a wide range of movies and shows you’ve watched and I never get bored with your content! I watch every video all the way through and sometimes I rewatch my favorites! You’re such a good content creator and you always make my day with your reactions. I will be so honest everytime you laugh I always manage to crack too, and when you cry I always manage to tear up too. You are just the coolest to me Mel and I love every single video you make! I have barely started this video and I already know I’m gonna have fun watching your reaction. Keep up the AMAZING work man!
Shen really is a great villain, stylised, distinctive, a little unexpected being a peacock and all. Feels quite real, misguided, and too far down a dark path to let himself think about his inner conflicts. The antithesis of Po, which seems to generally be the point. I think most of their best villains represent the hero in some way, if they'd picked a different fork on the road
I remember seeing a comment on another Kung Fu Panda 2 video saying White Peacocks aren’t found I guess desirable by their species. If true Shen being a white peacock and feeling as if his parents didn’t love him was a great stylistic choice for his character. Just proves they went the extra mile instead of making him a normal peacock.
hey mello yea ive had the experience of traumatic memories resurface and can get pretty intense, oddly its smells, sights or particular sounds that trigger them but once ya accept that part of your life ya become more and stronger from it if ya allow yourself to grow and learn from the experience

I still like the 3rd for Po's journey from student to master to teacher. And his friendship with Tigress...but yeah it's a bit weaker compared to this one. I am curious about where the path is going for the 4th one!

22:18-22:29 yeah! I wont make a massive boring read about it but suffice is to say that until a few months ago i didnt remember most of my childhood between about 3-4 and 12 ish and its started coming back recently. Honestly its helping even though sometimes its kinda hard to remember and relive... DAMN your reactions are such good therapy ❤😅 And that message "your story may not have a happy beginning but its who you choose to be now that matters, not what happened to you" has been very instrumental in reformulating my world view the last couple years and putting me on the path to recovery :)
28:42 they're not shocked because he hugged her. they're shocked because he hugged her and she didn't beat his ass (like she would probably do with anyone else).
I love this movie. In a lot of ways, I really do rate it higher than the first movie because of Lord Shen as the villain... and the fact that they gave the emotional moments more time to resonate and breathe. I'm not going to lie, the emotional beats hit like a brick for me when Po is doing the whole inner peace thing, both at the end of the second act and in the finale. Even when watching reactions, it makes me tear up _every time._ Oh, and an interesting thing with Lord Shen: I'm pretty sure that when he's talking with Po right at the end there, he finally makes the decision to find what peace he can... and that he does so by letting himself die. He's the one who cuts the ropes, and when it is coming down on top of him, he doesn't run... he just closes his eyes and accepts it. After everything that he had done, and how ruled by the manic need for power and respect that he'd been driven by for his _entire_ life at that point, the only way that he could have peace was to... die. He couldn't move on from the burden of destiny that he carried, and it was the only way that he could free himself from it.
Just started watching you recently, and I can tell you I love your reactions bro, you make me crease way too much 🤣🤣🤣, keep it going bro, I’m tryna see the last movie and the transformers reaction!!!
I'll always love when "kids" movies take a mature tone. Like when I saw Lion King in theaters as a little baby. Kids learn to grow and appreciate being treated like adults.
I really hope you watch the 3rd one. I actually went to the theater to see it. I thought the villain a the scenes were really good. I want to give a hint, because it reminds me of a PS2 game, but won't. Enjoyed your reaction!
Dreamworks put a lot into making KFP quality Chinese stories/media. They animated the mouths for the Mandarin dub and studied Chinese culture and symbolism for like a month before starting to write the first one. Aside from that, they are just great movies
First - 40,000 views is legit alot. Even if you're used to getting more views on most videos. Sometimes you gotta just do movies because it's something you already started, it's something you simply might enjoy watching, or a nice little handful or your subs would love to see you continue watching. It doesn't have to solely focus on crazy amounts of views and likes. Even though I understand that's important for the channel so that definitely plays a part. But I really enjoy when reaction channels are clearly here because they love film/television and they want to try as many things as possible. They're open to all movies, all shows, no matter if they will have a huge traction of likes and views. So I definitely think that's important. The early discussion about not doing well with the first Kung Fu Panda and How To Train Your Dragon just really got me thinking about that. I love your channel so I love that you react to so much! I'm in no way saying you're not a good channel or reactor. 😂 I'm a sub and love your channel. I just felt that was important to talk about. ❤ That being said, I'm SUPER surprised your How To Train Your Dragon reaction didn't do well. But I did notice the side note saying it was like one of your first reactions so it's also not surprising. If you was to release the next sequel this week even, you'd definitely see a huge difference in views and likes. Those a re huge reactions in the reaction community here. So I think your channel being so early at that time is what played into that lower count of views. But if you're unsure of the sequels, they definitely get even better than the first. They're really good.
You will probably only get this from me. But "The Professor" or "Richard says goodbye" starring Johnny Depp. One of his least known but one of his best. Funny, sad, serious, and a bit outrageous
I didn't expect to be as emotional as I was during this movie! But the scene when he has the last memory of his mother, she made sure he was safe, and then sacrificed herself..... 😢😢😢 This is one of my favorites to watch with my kids!❤

Actually, yeah. I was experiencing the same bad dreams over and over until I was 26 and finally spoke to come loved ones about them. They unlocked some trauma, but I healed. And now I don't have those dreams anymore.
I love this movie! I watched it in theaters on the day I graduated high school it was my first 4dx movie and it was crazy how you would zoom around in those fight scenes. The smell they used for the noodle shop stank like hell though.
When you asked if any trauma happened to any of us in the middle of the movie…well here’s one that sounds messed up but it took me years to accept and remember fully..when I was about 16 maybe 17 me and my girlfriend went for A trip she had her license and I just got mine about 10 days in to our trip we got in to A accident when I woke up 2 days later I didn’t remember her for about 6 years my memory of her been completely erased but I still remembered my life and family …as time went on I kept getting flashbacks and memories once I started seeing a therapist he helped me remember her and the last thing I said to her before I went unconscious was that I would live out both of our lives right after I got my memory back ..crazy how the brain works when in trauma and healing sorry about the long and sad story.

Xiran Jay Zhao is their name - and they made a good analysis on the Mulan movies and Avatar.
This is such an amazing reaction. I love this franchise so much. Jack Black is so hilarious. Keep on working hard Mell🔥💯✊🏾
Prophecy said Shen would be defeated by a warrior of black and white. Shen’s feathers are black and white
no matter how many time I watch this, the mother’s sacrifice will always make me cry
Doing UA-cam has really opened my eyes into seeing like an executive.
My personal ranking goes:
1.Kung Fu Panda 2
2.Kung Fu Panda
3.Kung Fu Panda 3
For me, the second had the best fights, most heartfelt moments, and overall most mature story!
27:25 the look of amazement on Shifu’s face gives me chills every time
That should be a meme
I laugh every time Po says "false advertising" 😂😂
Also just because Po is the Dragon Warrior doesn't mean he's a better fighter than the 5.
Just wait till you hear the villains theme in Kung Fu Panada 3. God is on point. So good.
Kinda makes me feel better that I wasn’t the only one that cried at 22:20 and that entire scene
Not the Tenacious D song😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 my favorite part of this whole video lmaoo
Waiting 5 years for the third movie. Now, there is going to be a 4th one next March.
Bro no way it’s coming that soon. They haven’t even dropped a trailer yet.
This is my favourite trilogy of all time and this is my favourite of the three but the second and third are still incredable movies.
Anythjng with Jack Black in makes me smile a bit like you Mello 😊. Love these movies this second one so emotive . You have to do the 3rd one. Hey when are we getting some cheesy Christmas movies .Hope your doing well . Keep missing your premiere 's due to work 😢. Until the next one💜 x
It's like Oogway said in the first movie, one often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.
Keep up the AMAZING work man!
man just hearing that movie intro again almost made me cry, Kung fu panda is what made my depressing childhood bearable
Everytime bro said damn it po, I felt him 😂
Shen really is a great villain, stylised, distinctive, a little unexpected being a peacock and all.
“How do you make fireworks dangerous”
Whos gonna tell him gunpowder was first used for fireworks, then people used it for cannons and guns
He unlocked Autonomous Ultra Instinct, a martial artists high state to achieve.
The intro will never get old bro can’t wait till you watch 300
Hans Zimmer did the soundtrack’s for all 3 movies and they’re all bangers
hey mello yea ive had the experience of traumatic memories resurface and can get pretty intense, oddly its smells, sights or particular sounds that trigger them but once ya accept that part of your life ya become more and stronger from it if ya allow yourself to grow and learn from the experience
Awesome reaction of my favorite Dreamworks superhero movie!!!!
12:33 "But Red Dead Redemption 2, that is not a game! It's an incredible journey through old American history. Fighting for your life and fighting for your family..." Jack black is a fucking gift tu humanity
Jack Black is probably one of my favorite actress ever seen him in probably almost every movie
THIS MOVIE IS MY FAVORITE KUNG FU PANDA MOVIE !!!! Thanks for watch this movie, Mellow . Everything in this movie is so special for me “Be defeat by a warrior of white and black” Could be Po or himself, Lord Sheng sign his own destiny and he get it at the end. I hope you watch soon HTTYD2 ❤❤ ❤
Love your reaction so much, this is my favorite kungo fu panda movie and Po's flashback always gets me in the feels 💙
21:14 that's a tuning fork, which Po used to catch himself by wedging it between the slats.
The ending of this movie had me so hyped for the 3rd one. Then the 3rd one came out and, let's just say the hype I had went out for a pack of cigarettes and didn't come back
I still like the 3rd for Po's journey from student to master to teacher. And his friendship with Tigress...but yeah it's a bit weaker compared to this one. I am curious about where the path is going for the 4th one!
Man watch what you wanna watch, listen to the us occasionally its your channel our entertainment. Some people though see if channels have all the movies to a franchise before they watch a vid. Love you mell❤️❤️❤️
Safe to say if it's got Jack Black, we'll love it.
this one is def my fav kung fu panda movie so far, top tier animation, music and story, some things animation just does better than live action.
How to train your dragon 2 is an absolute must watch probably better than the first 1
Nah it’s good but the first one is top tier 💯
22:18-22:29 yeah! In fact my mind is in the process of unravelling it currently which is kinda weird and trippy honestly that i remember things tomorrow that i dont remember today even though it was so long ago. I wont make a massive boring read about it but suffice is to say that until a few months ago i didnt remember most of my childhood between about 3-4 and 12 ish and its started coming back recently. Honestly its helping even though sometimes its kinda hard to remember and relive... DAMN your reactions are such good therapy ❤😅
And that message "your story may not have a happy beginning but its who you choose to be now that matters, not what happened to you" has been very instrumental in reformulating my world view the last couple years and putting me on the path to recovery :)
28:42 they're not shocked because he hugged her. they're shocked because he hugged her and she didn't beat his ass (like she would probably do with anyone else).
scars are what wounds can form lmao. gary oldman and his subtle comedy always gets me.
9:14 “Man it should be easy to beat this radish. Man just eat it”😂
I love this movie.
4:37 🔥Feet Of Fury!!!🔥
The first movie is awesome, the second movie is deeply emotional AND awesome. Definitely one of my all time faves.
Thank you for watching this and I hope that you'll like the third movie as well
16:31 - 16:30 i am the main character b- 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 he’s right po is the main character
I'd personally be a white tiger. There's not a lot of them, and I find them really similar to me
Just started watching you recently, and I can tell you I love your reactions bro, you make me crease way too much 🤣🤣🤣, keep it going bro, I’m tryna see the last movie and the transformers reaction!!!
6:23
The cabbage vender from Avatar TLA is screaming in trauma right now.
“My Cabbages!”
😂😭👀🥲😐😐🥺
I'll always love when "kids" movies take a mature tone. Like when I saw Lion King in theaters as a little baby. Kids learn to grow and appreciate being treated like adults.
I really hope you watch the 3rd one. I actually went to the theater to see it. I thought the villain a the scenes were really good. I want to give a hint, because it reminds me of a PS2 game, but won't. Enjoyed your reaction!
I can still remember being there to see it in the movie theatre and the first one when I was 8 and 11 years old they were really awesome
Dreamworks put a lot into making KFP quality Chinese stories/media. They animated the mouths for the Mandarin dub and studied Chinese culture and symbolism for like a month before starting to write the first one. Aside from that, they are just great movies
Don‘t you dare waiting so long again. I’m hyped for your reaction to part 3. 🔥🔥
That being said, I'm SUPER surprised your How To Train Your Dragon reaction didn't do well.
16:01 “False advertising ” 😂😂😂
I AM SO GLAD YOU FINALLY WATCHED IT
2:31 Yo😂 I just remembered the fushigi ball. That made me laugh way too hard.
I didn't expect to be as emotional as I was during this movie!
But the scene when he has the last memory of his mother, she made sure he was safe, and then sacrificed herself.....
😢😢😢
This is one of my favorites to watch with my kids!❤
King fun panda 2 is one of my all time favourite movies.
Kung-fu panda is great, the second one is my favorite part of the trilogy so far, the third is a bit lacking in my opinion but still very good and the ending soooo good 😁
He finally reacted to my fav king fu panda movie YESSSSSSSSSSS😂❤️
Actually, yeah. I was experiencing the same bad dreams over and over until I was 26 and finally spoke to come loved ones about them. They unlocked some trauma, but I healed. And now I don't have those dreams anymore.
My dad loves this series and loves rewatching. I think I liked this one a bit more! I’m also a huge Gary Oldman fan.
Finallyyy we missed you ❤
I love this movie! I watched it in theaters on the day I graduated high school it was my first 4dx movie and it was crazy how you would zoom around in those fight scenes. The smell they used for the noodle shop stank like hell though.
Kung Fu Panda 2 is my favorite DreamWorks animation, hands down. It's just so powerful. I'm glad you gave it a chance.
OMG never noticed it but when they are falling form the pagoda onto the city below, tigress catches and then gently tosses po.
Kung Fu Panda is my all time favorite movie series! So many spiritual motifs that one can apply in their own life to change it for the better.
can't wait for ur reaction to the third one. might not be as goated but it's nice to see how the story continues. Great franchise!!!!!!!!
kung fu panda 2 has some AMAZING music! i have so many ost on my playlist. I think shen is a great villain as well
