J.K. Simmons is incredible as General Kai and his theme tune goes so hard. I love Po's struggle to become a teacher and master chi, and the climax is truly epic.
You know the sad part is, I thought he was a yak. Turns out… he's some kind of a bull, which I find hard to believe because bulls don't have antlers like that. Then again, what the hell do I know.
That ending where the camera shows Po smiling as everyone follows his lead, realizing that he has truly made it. He became the beloved hero, warrior of legend, and most importantly, beloved friend to everybody that he always wanted to be.❤
Bro, this movie made it easier to meet my daughter new step dad, when POs dad says” him having someone else doesn’t mean we get less of our kids, it means our kids get MORE love” or something along those lines,
do yourself a favor bro, just don't watch 4th part of this franchise. think of it as it doesn't exist. there is only trilogy for this franchise. keep that in mind and move on. the bad taste that 4th part gave me i wish i could erase that memory.
Unfortunately, it didn't. Still a good watch if you watch it as a standalone adventure ala Legend of Awesomeness or Dragon Knights, just not as a follow-up to the trilogy.
Fun fact: Shen wasn't there because he's just skilled and smart but not strong, so that's why Kai just left Shen alone with his family in the spirit Realm, Kai only took Tai Lung because he was a strong warrior..
Oogway did kinda betray kai, because both of them are warlords and have thirst for power, but when oogway was healed at the panda village he changed and kai stayed the same.
I’m so happy you loved this movie! It’s such a positive, upbeat film. While I do think that sometimes it comes at a detriment due to the comedy, I was really able to gain extra enjoyment by seeing how funny you felt it was. It made me reconsider and reevaluate the comedy a fair bit, and made me appreciate certain gags I’d already enjoyed. There’s some interesting stuff to note about this film. Tai Lung is in the movie as an Easter egg. If you look on Kai’s belt of Jade Warriors (specifically when he’s absorbing Monkey and Viper’s Chi) you can just barely make out a pendant with Tai Lung’s design on it. So it’s implied that Kai fought and beat Tai Lung in the Spirit Realm, which is where he was seemingly sent at the end of the first film because of the Wuxi Finger Hold. Another thing to note is the nature of Oogway and Kai’ relationship and the betrayal. Some people have speculated that Kai’s perspective might have more merit than initially thought if you consider that Oogway in his youth was not as kind and friendly as he seemed. He starts his story by telling us that he was “an ambitious warrior leading a great army.” This coupled with Kai’ reputation as “the beast of vengeance” and “maker of widows” really makes it seem like the both of them were conquerors. But it’s only after the ambush and Oogway’s healing in the panda village that he realizes the error of his ways and becomes the wise and kind master we know and love. Kai however, is still the ambitious and power-hungry warlord and feels that Oogway has betrayed their brotherhood by abandoning their conquest. The movie doesn’t outright state this, but it can be inferred based on implications in the film. So it was less of a fall from grace for Kai, and more that Oogway saw the error of his ways.

I didn't see a comment that said this already so I thought I'd share: Giant Pandas' conservation status is actually Vulnerable now instead of Endangered! It's still a subclass of Threatened (per IUCN's scale) and at risk, but conservation efforts all over the world have really started to help their population's growth. And I'm not sure how many zoos have Panda exhibits, but I do recommend seeing the pandas in person if you ever get the chance! I'm actually glad they didn't bring po's dad in as some cliche bad guy and kept it simple We already have a lot of that in many TV shows and all sorts of stuff I don't think we need anymore
Pandas are built to eat like other bears, but they chose to only eat bamboo (probably bc it was plentiful and easier than hunting). I wonder how long it took for the entire species to switch to bamboo diets. There’s a theory that they severely nerfed themselves by changing their diet and activity levels, and that’s one of the reasons for population decline. This whole franchise is based on real pandas choosing to work less
I felt like they needed to establish the dear aspect of Kai more. If he landed in the forbidden city and started taking out the Emperor's armies. THEN that would be epic.
I don't understand people who say Kai wasn't a threat. He steamrolled all of his opponents, he single handedly escaped the spirit realm, he beat Oogway and Po (Something even Tai Lung couldn't do), canonically beat Tai Lung *himself*, destroyed the Jade Palace, and left a warpath of destruction that was only stopped when Po became a fucking God and killed him. How, in what universe, was Kai not a threat.
Maybe it’s the fact that Po didn’t really do anything to defeat the guy. We see him grappling with who he is and chi is definitely related to that, but he didn’t even really learn chi itself-the pandas just pumped him full of it at the last second and Kai barely lasted three minutes after that. (Keep in mind that this is just my opinion.)
Those who haven't watched the 4th part yet...You will be enchanted, the upcoming Chameleon villain does not even have a clear motive to hate kung fu masters and she has nothing to do with them in the past, unlike Tai Lung, Shen, and Kai, all the pandas of the trained Qi disappeared somewhere, why did Po start looking for a receiver because he is not even old (in the animated series which is considered not a canon, which was unfortunate, and this is Peng, Tai Lung's nephew) Children will most likely like it, but I loved Dreamworks for the fact that they perfectly bordered between drama and humor!
And why was Kai there, didn't he physically die IN the Spirit Realm, and Shen to, I thought only Kung Fu masters enter the spirit realm and shen was never a master like he was good at fighting and stuff. the 4th movie wasn't anything special, didn't give any lore, didn't have furious five, had a weird plot, and a random fox he had to mentor after being the dragon warrior for 2 years, I recommend going into the movie without high expectations and think of it as non-canon. Guess they know how to make their villains right... I kinda wish for a female villain in part 4, just to shake it up (and I think there is, I watched the trailer long ago and don't want to spoil myself until the Blu Ray Release!)
waiting on that Kung Fu Kang reaction
Oogway btw betrayed kai they were both evil but Oogway changed after getting his life saved 21:44

This I saw recently way after it's release and it surprisingly was better than the first 2 which is crazy since those were also good lol. They milking it but it's working some how
You ever been told you kinda sound like Eddie Murphy when he played donkey in shrek? 😂
I haven't seen the 4th one yet, but when I heard it was being made, I was kinda upset, cause I feel like this third one was a perfect way to end it, same with the How To Train Your Dragon trilogy. I'm honestly worried about this 4th Kung Fu Panda movie.
Yeah, but think of all the money Dreamworks would miss out on!
It was originally planned as 6 movies. The first trilogy was about being a student, and the next trilogy is about being the teacher.
Yep for sure this is my favorit one so much fun! But more importend its about familie and friends and just be yourselves
9:56 why did you do that?! that was a funny part in the film!
Yeah, you liked my reaction to that funny part? That's the point of the video. 😉

You should react to nacho libre a classic jack black movie
Thanks for sharing lol
I honestly have a hard time ranking all 3. I tend to rewatch them all in one go as some kind of Comfort Trilogy and love each for different reasons.
