I've never read a book so fast! ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU Learning about his dogs and experiences was just the icing on the cake - bed this book through and through. We're working with our new pup and Brandon's advise was just what I needed. Wish he'd just come and train for me haha but it's good for us and happy to have this new set of tools to use on our pup.

its the hunting dogs that are intelligent, pitbull is not a breed but a mix... this is why most pitbulls got some hunting dogs in them, not just mastiffs, and this is why they are smart... comparing a dog with an ADHD child is kinda lame, because that means your dog is just hyper and hyperfocused, which is not a good thing most of the time.

In the first video he mentioned that part of his reasoning was that adopters would continuously be interested in George but when they met him and saw how intense and forward he was they would change their mind. So I think he wanted a dog that clearly had a desirable personality (friendly, outgoing, energetic) but could use some behavior modification to become a better fit for families.

She knows sit, down, stay, up, roll over, leave it, “hunt it up” (find the ______) as well as “tricks” like “Pound it,” which is where you hold your fist out and she bumps it with her nose, and “bang bang!” Is where we “shoot” her with a finger-gun and she plays dead. She also does “Instagram!” where she rolls into her back, all our legs straight up, ears flopped back, with a toothy grin. She plays fetch with my husband, and she also does “cartwheels” (which are more like a flip, but hilarious!)

great series, zak! if you’re ever looking for ideas for your next series, I recommend working with nordic breeds like huskies, shibas, elkhounds… they’re very ‘strong-willed’ & their independent personalities are an absolute joy. as such, certain skills like recall & stay can be much more difficult to attain considering their strong prey drive. would definitely mix up the formula & provide a challenging (yet rewarding) relationship

Some thoughts: 1) First of all, Indy is EVERYTHING that is good and perfect. She gave her own input on the Training of George and it was brilliant. 2) Love how you are protective of Inertia’s sensitivities, yet the Pibble realized that Border collies don’t ever get tired (at least not before they tire out everyone else in the environment!). 3) I love your openness about your own mistakes, thank you for being vulnerable on the often-little-forgiving internet, and remember as you said no dog is a robot or machine, nor is any person- I love that you “forgive” your own mistakes too that is so healthy to continue. Well done on this series, you’ve drawn me in as this has been fascinating! Am a long time watcher, follower and fan, but George’s journey has been especially poignant.

Actually, I'm liking George's multi-focus abilities. He turned to look at the butterfly, and then the people; but his mental attention was still focused on Zak. To me, this was evident through the fact that George continued to hold the "Stay". His head and eyes turned to the distractions but his body remained with Zak. I truly expect that, by the end of this series, I'll be saying George is an amazing dog. He seems like an absolutely brilliant, playful, lovable dog.

That would be a fitting comparison considering that hippo's are actually known to be incredibly aggressive and deadly at times. The ignorance in the pit cult community is truly becoming too much to understand.

I have Staffordshire bull mix pup that looks so much like George and he definitely doesn’t like to ‘let go’ so very interested to watch your next videos. Side note we took our pup on a off road walk yesterday and met another couple with a pup and I mentioned that I watch you and she got so excited cos she has been watching you too!! (We’re in the U.K.) keep them coming zac

This series is amazing! I am happy that Zak is training a pit bull! I love seeing George getting that chance to go to a loving family. I can't wait to see him getting leash training. Wondering if he is leash reactive towards other dogs like my pit bull/am staff mix. And if he is, I would love to see how to Zak will train George so I can pickup a few tips to try.
When my dog was in the shelter he was one of the staffs favorites and would get along with other dogs. But now it's been almost 5 months since we adopted him and is now very picky with which dogs he gets along with. He gets along more with smaller dogs since he's been around them more. But hopefully I can train him to not react out of fear with dogs bigger than him.
Again I love that we see some pit bull representation on this channel!
I never had dogs before and I read articles recommended to not get a pit bull as your very first dog because they can be intense and it's best to have some dog handling experience before getting one. Well, obviously, I defied that recommendation. Yes it was intense to train them. Yes they are powerful. But owning pit bulls has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. They are smart! They are loving! They are great companion dogs! I trained both of my pits to live with my 2 yr old cat which they have never ever done before! took a couple months and now they are all friends. Except my cat doesn't really interact with him which is okay!

House Hippo is usually used for grey American Bullies (The single breed)...
the most popular term I hear for a APBT is a "giant tongue with a dog and whip (tail) attached to it"...

Pit bulls are some of my favorite dogs to work with! I’m a petsitter/dogwalker, and I’ve never met a pit who wasn’t just a big, adorable baby.
My previous dog was a pit mix. She was the sweetest, most empathetic dog. I miss her.
Thank you for giving George his chance! Too many people just don’t know how amazing pits can be with patience and training. He’s going to find a great home because of you guys!

I am so glad to see this! Not quite 2 months ago I brought home a pittie/australian cattledog mix from a shelter where he had been since last June or July. He was not neutered until this last January; he is supposed to be about 3 years old. I think he may be a little younger, but that may just be because he is so UNTRAINED. He is sweet as can be, though there have been a few (fewer than 5) growling episodes, with two snaps; and he allows my cat to be boss.
I have been lucky with my dogs in the past and they have been very responsive to 'training', of course they were much younger. This guy is NOT food oriented unless there is literally nothing else going on, and even sometimes when there are no distractions apparent. I know this is not a forum for telling a story but I am so excited because seeing another similar situation is the first thing to give me real hope. We have had incremental progress (sit and twice he has stayed), but I have literally been in tears, especially since he will still not come reliably: even into the house when he knows dinner is ready. My tears are for him because his timidity seems so fearful and heartbreaking, and they are for me because I fear I will not be able to help either of us.
    Anyway, thanks Zak.
