A fear response? You mean he’s an unpredictable mutant shit bull if we’re being honest here. I just don’t understand the attraction to dogs in general. You gotta beat it into them to get em to stop attacking things, stop eating feces, stop jumping and scratching and destroying things. I mean...if it sees a bicycle go by and it wants to chase and mutilate the cyclist..and you gotta force it not to do that then I would make the argument that these things do not belong in our homes

I know the dogs don’t understand it but the fact that you address George as ‘Sir’ and Moira as ‘Ma’am’ every so often subtly emphasizes to the humans watching that the foundation of your relationship is always respect.
I learned from someone to say please after a command. It does 2 things for you. 1 makes you wait for a response and 2 keeps your tone at least polite because you really can't say please and be frustrated or at least I can't. I also say thank you to some responses. Not always because good is usually more effective
More videos on the retraining,of your name dog ,would be more helpful for my learning from your videos,thank-you...so much.

It’s so so refreshing to see a dog trainer with a bully breed, instead of the usual retriever/colley etc breeds that seem to learn commands a lot easier and quicker. Massive respect.
Right that pittie was super smart
I never thought I would rescue a pitbull. I’ve had mine for about 3 months now and we have been training every day. She is so smart and has no quit in her. We can run at the dog park, then hike for four hours and she loves every second of it. I underestimated pitbulls. She does have a high prey drive for small animals that distracts her, but overall she is doing extremely well. Maybe not a beginner dog or for those not prepared to put in the work. She is up for anything anytime and a great cuddler.

Watching this transformation brought me to tears. You’ve proven that all it takes is dedication, consistency & belief in them to reform the most untrained dog. You’re ability to always treat dogs with respect and love inspires me keep going in that same vein when training my dogs. I’ve always believed that & seeing you reinforce that belief means a lot to me.
I've been trying to train my pitbull for the last few months. My dog is the sweetest boy and just loves people but he is so powerful and driven its hard to get him to listen when I need him to behave. It actually brings me to tears to see you going through such a similar experience and gives me so much hope for me and my dog! Thank you for reminding me that no matter how hard training can be its always possible and worth it!

I volunteer at a big shelter in California. I mentor canine foster families and Zak's channel is the first link I send out to them when they bring their foster home. I love Zak's training methods and that he also shows his own mistakes. We get so many pitties at the shelter and I couldn't wait for this series to start. Thanks Zak!
Thank you for your shelter work and for linking families to resources. I worry that too many families adopt shelter dogs and think they are going to have some kind of magical, movie perfect relationship where the dog runs and tells them when Timmy is down a well. Adopting dogs is great for all people, but those people need support and to know what to expect (as much as possible). We just adopted from a local rescue that treats it more like a child adoption -- we did 3 visits to the foster family home, then four visits in our home. I know that most shelters don't have the resources to do this. But it did allow us to adopt a beautiful and loving dog with a really abusive past and significant bite history. It is unlikely that she will ever be that cool frisbee catching dog in the park, but she has a safe place, and we are vigilant to keep her and people in our home safe. We are all happy!

Yes, the "ideal" situation is to foster the dog and then find a good home for him or her. But every once in a while, a dog comes along that just pulls on your heart strings in the right way and you just can't say good-bye. And that's okay, too. We've had more than one of those.
@@janhankins911 I fostered a little, incontinent young dog in a wheelchair over a summer and she pooped all over the house and I couldn't imagine keeping her, spent the whole summer trying to find her a home. Finally a home made an offer and we realised how we couldn't live without her, a year on we know her routine and love her more than we ever thought possible. Best decision I have ever made.

My dog was the same way when I got him. I told the shelter that I was committed to training an untrained dog. I'm not a dog trainer like you so I use your videos to help me with my dog. Thx for the help!!

Oh my God seeing Zak cry even for a second almost made me cry too. He loves the dogs he works with so much! It's so hard to fall in love with an animal and then have to give them up. I feel you, Zak! You're doing a fantastic thing for these pups.
I'm secretly hoping this is going to be a foster fail, you can just tell how much Zak and Bri have already bonded with George.
I guess these were done a while back, so your decision has probably been made. However, it looks like George has bonded with Zac and Bri too. He would do anything you asked. Not sure he would feel that way about just anyone. As Robert Cabral when addressing shelter volunteers, he mentioned how hard it is on the dogs as well when the have to leave humans they bond with. I would be fun to see Zac and George do some completion stuff in the future with George and Inertia such as Rally, frisbee, obedience, agility. Etc. it would really set you apart as a trainer who goes on and competes with a rescue. Note, every other trainer on UA-cam has purebreds and wouldn’t consider a rescue seriously. Seeing you further train and crush the competition with a rescue would be amazing.

I think Goxxly has a some great training skills and I realize he tries to warn the public with his opinions of dog trainers that are inhumane, but sometimes I feel like he is like a radio commentator that is being so negative and judgmental to get a rise out of people on other trainers. My thought is “Let’s see more of what you can do in detail.” . I wish he didn’t turn his comments of in many cases.
I would love to see him do more videos explaining more in training and dog psychology. I think that would turn his channel from thousands to 100s of thousands
@@mell.7817I think he does more of that on his tik tok but not sure as I'm not on there much but I see people talk about his tik tok in the UA-cam comments even though Kiko pup has pure bred pups now she started out with a rescue. I think he training videos are more straightforward than most. Do you listen to Hannah Brannigan's podcast great info there on the science behind training. I also love Leslie McDevitt's Control Unleahed program/books.

It takes a very strong person to foster animals, I couldn't do it because I'd fall in love too easily and keep them all lol. Fostered once already and totally failed.

Same here, uk fosterer and walking volunteer, I meet so many dogs with impoverished backgrounds in terms of socialisation and attention. Very similar to this boy so it is great to follow Georges' journey.

One of the biggest key takeaways from this for us is the level of hyper focus and dedication needed to even the smallest positive actions which overtime will make up the biggest difference. And especially with older adopted dogs. Things are going to possibly take a bit longer. And the positive reinforcement is so much nicer for everyone involved. Great video :)
Wow, I wasn't expecting to but I started getting emotional with this one. By the time 29 minutes rolled around -- damn. Pit bulls deserve good lives, they are such good pups

Pit bull-“type” dogs (4 breeds) kill more dogs and people each year than 300 other breeds combined. They also kill more people each year than school shootings do. George seems like a great dog but it’s not exactly an unfounded stereotype.
They are nice dogs but I swear everytime there's a fight at the dog park its a pit bull. They dont know how to play with dogs only people
@@agawdsparadise3782 One also has to remember what type of person stereotypically is attracted to getting a pit bulls as a pet dog.... They're known for being strong and 'dominant' breeds and that attracts pet owners that are particular into those characteristics and people who will encourage behavior expressing such qualities.
I remember pet sitting a dog once - not a pit bull - and his owner was a military guy who prided himself of having a dominant dog and did nothing to stop the dog's behavior when it stepped out of line. In the brief 10 days I had him and was able to correct him during such moves with other dogs, I already saw improvements. I'm sure if the owner was willing, he could rid the dog of such behavior very quickly - but instead he sees it as the dog's 'natural temperament' because he liked that quality and ended up doing nothing to prevent it. He rather encouraged it
@@agawdsparadise3782 stop perpetuating this crap. My dog was a pit and I've never seen a dog play better with other dogs. He could pull me across the floor playing tug, but would hold still for my Pomeranian to play tug with him, and would only very gently and slowly turn his face a little to the side to move my pom a couple inches.
@@agawdsparadise3782 Dude, people like you, people that automatically assume bully breeds are "dangerous," "vicious," etc. REALLY get on my nerves. You ESPECIALLY do now that I'm training an almost 1-year-old Border Collie/ Pittie mix rescue to be my Service Dog. The stereotypes (and your public/cyber-public proclamations of them) are a HUGE detriment.
Allow me to say that my beloved Shasta is the world's biggest sweetheart. She's allowed people and animals of all ages and sizes to interact with her (right now she's getting a lot of socialization and environmental exposure), and not once has she displayed ANY signs of the stereotypical "aggressive" or "vicious" tendencies. She's always "smiling," always happy to "gear up" and go, always ready to give hugs, kisses, and cuddles.
I will make a confession here and say that I used to be like you. I used to automatically say "Pit Bulls are dangerous. You'd never see me near one, and I'll NEVER own one or a dog with Pittie in its mix." But, once I stopped, took the time to do some proper research on the breed (did you know "Pit Bull" is NOT a breed? There's two types, as well: the Staffordshire Terrier and the American Staffordshire Terrier), actually interacted with properly trained dogs, and (to my surprise) chose to own and train a Pittie mix, I changed my mind.
So, please do me and others like me a favor: kindly keep your opinions to yourself. Stop practicing "breed discrimination" (and yes, you read that correctly). Thank you.

That's one reason we do "breed" rescue. We know when there is a suspected Dane or Wolfhound in the shelter and we usually ask the shelter folks to bring the dog out to us (and most comply). I think if I had to walk back to where all the dogs were, I'd either just melt into a puddle and cry or say "I'll take that one, and I'll take that one, and oh, by all means, I'll take that one...." .
@@janhankins911 I definitely agree. I adopted a dog like George and he is a work in progress. I could not work in a shelter unless it was a no kill shelter.
@@jenniferhcsmith-5586 While I agree it would be extremely difficult to work in a kill shelter, I highly highly recommend you give them as much support as possible. Donations, volunteer work, etc.
Kill shelters are government funded and required by law to take in every animal, no matter how old, sick, aggressive, etc.
No-kill shelters have the luxury of being able to pick and choose which animals they take (as they are privately owned), meaning if they’re full, they are not obligated to keep taking in animals.
Kill shelters get a bad rep, but they deserve the world for how much work they put in to keep every animal alive as long as possible

@@soilewiirila7289 depends. There are certain situations in which supporting ethical and responsible breeders is justifiable. One example is picking a service dog prospect or other working dogs. Shelter mutts have a much higher chance of not making it as a service dog than certain purebreds (like goldens, labs, poodles, etc.)

And anytime a dog jumps on you the word is off. It's easy to start training that right away. I've been a dog behavior trainer for years and years and have never been bit but 1 did run at me when I started shelter dog training and I got a front paw of a pittie stuck in my mid section..thru 2 layers of fleece AND a tshirt. I had to pick out the paw so he would be released from me 1 nail atta time. So watch it.

Seven months since adopting him, I can't convince my poor boy that the rope pull toy is not a weapon to fear. We have conquered the terror of the leash, broom handle and garden tools. Five homes and three stints in shelters that we know about, a fractured leg healed badly without being set, blinded in one eye. These animals often suffer so much and yet still want to please. It’s so nice to see someone doing training with a pit bull. George does the same thing as my bulldog/pit mix and I feel like no one shows the real personality of the breed. They’re amazing dogs but training them is very challenging. Even better you’re from my home town where pit bulls are popular and need help. Thank you 🙏
Amazing first video with a pit bull, and finally someone that can handle one properly. Everyone I know that's had one has used the wrong approach with them. Every single time. Everyone seems to have the insane idea that because they are a naturally powerful breed that they have to be handled with muscle and severity. and usually turns out with them abandoning the dog to a shelter in the end. I will ABSOLUTELY be recommending this series to those I know with a dog like this. To show them how wrong they were in how they raised them... Well done!!

We see the same issue with Great Danes (but, interestingly, to a lesser degree with Irish Wolfhounds--I guess because it's so easily apparent that Wolfhounds are just these sweet, hairy, BIG puddles of LOVE, that people recognize they should be treated with love and care). People think because they're "big" and "tough" (most Danes are marshmallows and not "tough" at all), you should use aversive methods to train them. Nothing is further from the truth. In addition, we KNOW (a fact) that aversive methods can result in aggression. I, for one, am not stupid enough to use aversive methods that can result in aggression on a dog large enough to literally KILL me.
Our back yard neighbors have two dogs that look like they might be some kind of bull terrier (or similar looking breed -- it is difficult to tell on looks) that are very fence reactive. The neighbors have the dogs on electronic collars that they seem to use in frustration without any clear training plan. We have two new rescue dogs that do not make the fence a better place for any of the dogs. We are lucky enough to have enough space to just keep our dogs away from that area. I like the idea of first controlling the dog environment, then teaching them coping skills when they have a trigger ( a dog on the other side of a fence), but it seems like you will probably never be able to train the dog to be okay with something that truly triggers them (like at the fence) so the environment needs to be adjusted.

@@tonyabettridge1128 the bull terrier has a egg shaped head with a curved mussel and is easily recognized. The American pit bull terrier is a lean muscular dog with a athletic build with average height 22in and weight 48-60 any thing bigger is probably not the American Pit bull terrier and any dog called blue nose is not a American pit bull terrier.
The American Staffordshire Terrier is somewhat similar to the American pit bull terrier but with practice they will become more easily distinguishable from one another look at the ADBA American pit bull and the
AKC American Staffordshire terrier
The difference is easy to see.
The American Staffordshire Terrier is a more block shaped with a wider head and shorter snout and can be quite a bit heavier 60-80lb with a bulkier build and commonly having a black nose.
The Staffordshire bull terrier is the smallest of the bunch 35-45lb with a shape similar as the American Staffordshire Terrier shorter legs and muscular body and a large head compared with it's body.
Lastly the biggest of the bunch is the American Bully this is the commonly blue dog sometimes called blue nose pit bull although it's not the American Pit bull terrier. The American Bully mostly resembles the American Staffordshire Terrier but taller and heavier look up razor edge or gotti Bloodline they are Bully's and are very distinguishable from the American pit bull terrier and the American staffershie terrier and you can see the difference between all of them look up the
ADBA American pitbull terrier
AKC/UKC American Staffordshire terrier
ABKC American Bully
The American Bully is somewhat of a newer breed that is known to have neopolitan mastiff in them resulting in the blue color commonly seen as well as the larger size.
As similar as these dog's may seem they are all individual breeds with different Bloodlines temperaments and breed standards and registreys that recognize them. I hope that this is of some help in differentiating between these similar but very different breeds of witch the American pit bull terrier being my favorite breed registered with the ADBA since around 1909 is a pure breed of working dog and the true [PIT BULL]

This trailer took me down memory lane hard. My old dog (pit/Australian healer) was married to his hex ball and could pull you in a sled across concrete. This is great for the pit community to show how awesome they are when owners put the effort in. Have a pit/irish wolfhound mix now.

@@MsJabbaTheHutt Same here, was really excited for this because George exhibits so many of the behaviors my APBT mix puppy has. She loves to tug (can't really right now due to teething), pulls hard on the leash, wants to chase birds, is hyper alert, even doesn't like to be surprised by people like in the trailer. Also crazy intelligent, if I could get the leash thing under control, very trainable.
Bully's are such lovers. People get them wrong.
I am a newly certified dog trainer. You have been my inspiration, in that you show the problems and steps backwards as well as the successes. It allows me, as a dog trainer, to make mistakes, own them, and move forward.
We just adopted a dog who is much like George. I'm very interested in watching this series to learn how I can help her overcome some of her negative behaviors and reinforce the good behaviors she did come with. I've been watching a lot of dog training videos from a variety of trainers, and I really appreciate your approach. It resonates well with me and the way I like to work with animals, so I'm grateful for the chance to learn from you. Thank you for sharing your experience with all of us!
He is definitely smart, but more importantly (I think), he seems to absolutely love people and so much want to please you! I know his jumping is rude, but it's because he's so excited by people. Especially given his background, it's amazing how happy and comfortable he is around people (and other dogs!) His strength and bad habits will be a challenge, but he's going to make someone an amazing dog.
Pit bulls are such people pleasers , they will go so far to do what their owner wants and that is unfortunately their downfall because people take advantage of it and use them for the wrong reasons. Amazing dogs in the hands of horrible people. It's far too common which is why it's great that hes making this video to expose the realm potential of these dogs and try and prove that stereotype that they're agressive wrong.
When we first met our dog, the shelter staff brought us all into a ≈10x12 room with a wall to wall bench seat on each end, where we sat. My dog was so excited to be in there and meet us that she started running laps around the room, jumping up to run across each bench every time, even though there were people sitting on them lol. She just mowed us over, running as fast as she could. I was weeping with laughter. We couldn't get her that day because we showed up too late to have time for the paperwork. I was worried sick that someone would steal her from us before we could get back there the next day. But I guess some people aren't looking for that in a dog lol.
She's all bully breed, mostly pittie. She loves people so much. We can't say anyone's name at all unless she's about to go see them, or she'll cry all day. We have to spell everything lol.

I was not so positive on pit bulls (thanks media) until my brother had two of the sweetest pits ever. I was afraid to let my son go around them until I took a chance and next thing you know he’s cuddling with one of them. My brother and his wife are loving people and are so loving with their dogs which I believe is the key.

Absolutely loving this! I've cried five times in the first episode! This type of breed is SO easy to love and they love their humans more than anything. I have two pitties of my own, and like George, they are SO smart and learn new tricks easily! Definitely a powerful and excitable breed though. We recently reached out to a dog trainer who recommended more dominating techniques, but Zak, I started training my puppy watching your videos almost 3 years ago and really only your methods and a lot of persistence and repetition has worked! Yeah persistence and repetition! Repetition works because they learn what the things we're saying and doing mean...and we learn what they're telling us! It all lets us communicate with each other. The point is to communicate not to dominate

This really does prove that you can train any dog with positive reinforcement. I have an American Bulldog and she's just as receptive as the young man in this video. It's good Bull breeds are being shown positively, they're cracking dogs and only want to love and be loved.
Bully breeds are so amazing. They’re smart, strong, extremely loyal and devoted to their families. I wasn’t a dog person until one was abandoned on my parents porch. Keeping him has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’m really excited about this series. Thank you for this 🙏🏽
I adopted an adult shelter pit and he is so much like George. It took me a year and so many tears to get him “trained”, and we still have a long way to go. I’m excited to see how you deal with pushy play because we still really struggle with that!

The shelters here are the same way and I admit when I adopted my pit mix, I had no idea how overly energetic they are. He's calmed down a lot over the years but still loves to jump. He's my bff.

I love the premise of this series so much! This is EXACTLY what I have been looking - training videos focused on rescue pups. And as a foster parent, I am moved. Thank you for all you guys do to help pups and their parents. My rescue dog's anxiety has been reduced so much through this training.

I’m so glad you selected a bully breed for this. They get such a bad rap and too many people generalize the breeds as ‘viscous’ mostly due to sensationalism by the news. The vast majority of these dogs are sweet and gentle when given the proper love and training.

I agree, these breeds get a bad rep but it dogs like my Chihuahua which need to be feared. He a little hooligan terrorist. I find larger dogs are so friendly and docile.
Something that I believe adds to the confusion and these breeds getting a bad rap that effects the American pit bull terrier the most. Is the use of terms like Bully breed and pitbull,pittie, being used as a umbrella term identifying multiple pure dog breeds that have individual titles and registeryes that recognize them.
What's a Bully breed?
it's the breed called American Bully created in the late 90s early 2000s by Dave Wilson.
AM Bully bloodlines Razor edge, Gotti, Remy, these are Bully's registered with the ABKC.
What is a pit bull or pittie this is a breed called the American pit bull terrier.
The American pit bull terrier is a pure breed of working dog registered with the ADBA since around 1909 with bloodlines like [OFRN] old family rednose, Colby, Chinaman,Red boy, Jeep,Eli,Frisco. Before the breed was recognized by the ADBA the breed was simply called pit bull then the ADBA named the breed American pit bull terrier making it the only dog with
[PIT BULL] in the breed title.
If the dog can't be registered as American pit bull terrier it's not a pit bull.
Another breed that gets clamped in with these terms but isn't a pit bull or a Ambully is the American Staffordshire Terrier. The American Staffordshire Terrier started out As the American pit bull terrier but the American kennel club registered the breed under the name American Staffordshire terrier in the 1930's the reasoning behind the name of the breed was to dissociate from dog fighting.
Although the American Staffordshire Terrier started out the same as the American pit bull terrier.
Over many years of selectively breeding for a certain look in size and shape as well as temperament the difference between the two breeds grew bigger and bigger antel they became noticeably different from each other.
The American Staffordshire Terrier has developed unique standards and bloodlines like Gaff,Morphin,Armstead,Benmar,
These bloodlines are unique and can only be registered as American Staffordshire Terrier wich isn't a pit bull or Bully.

breed Specific Legislation being a very real thing causing breeds to be outlawed and banned confiscated and killed in certain Countries and states or county's.
One breed gets targeted more so than any other and that is the
pit bull= American pitbull terrier due in part to the use of terms like Bully breed and pittie and the failure of people's ability to accurately and correctly identify
Dog breeds as the individual breeds that they are. The bite rate Statistics are so flawed and false. [It makes me so mad the breed I love gets the brunt of the blame the American pit bull terrier]

People who use these terms are not doing right by these dog's.

On day one, DAY ONE bro, he picked up on basic commands, even around another dog, he is definitely smart and loving. I cant imagine someone not adopting him, ill be following up with the series.
I just came across this video, as I have a 10 mo old APBT I’m training. She’s my emotional support animal, and ideally, would like her to be my trained service dog. I am absolutely LOVING this video! The excitement from both of you is over the top! I imagine both of you slept harder that first night, then either of you has ever slept!😆 Knowing no further of your story with George, than what I’ve seen by watching half of this first video (I just had to pause to comment!😁), I eagerly look forward to watching the remainder of your videos with him, and seeing if you kept him or not. He has his issues, but George is such a special dog! If I can throw an idea in here, could you choose a very frightful dog once in the series? I think terrified dogs are absolutely the hardest to manage and train, given their set of trauma....
Yes, I'd like to see Zak work with a fearful dog. I've worked with a number that have come through rescue. Some were "just fine" after a little training. Others stayed in rescue with a board member's family for the dog's life (the "worst" one stayed with us for her lifetime). Some were fine after a long time, some required homes with very specific requirements (such as no other dogs, no cats, no kids, etc.). But I'm not sure how Zak could do this, because with a fearful dog, you really don't know how quickly they're going to progress (at least I've never been able to tell) and we don't what to see a series of Zak spending 6 months trying to get he dog to take a treat from him.
I think we can already see a bit of how Zak approaches fear in dogs, I always have the impression that Inertia is also one of those more "careful" dogs. (not extremely fearful of course, but I think she probably had tendencies that did not manifest Intro real issues because of Zak's approach to training?

He is such a great boy, so docile and smart. He is not "rude" at all, the leash pulling is not even that bad. He is going to do so well! 🥰🐕❤

A couple months ago I adopted my rescue pit, Bruce. He looks to be same size and energy level as George. Especially, the pulling and jumping behaviors. We are still working on both. He is the sweetest smartest dog I have ever known and loved. He also has claimed our furniture among our hearts.
George is basically a dog made for first time owners. He is super easy and super trainable. That type of pulling is nothing to be worried about. Food motivated, toy motivated, absolutely receptive. No wonder Zak bawled out his eyes when thinking about giving him away because this dog must be heaven compared to reactive little Inertia.
I love how you are patient and calm and you manage all the things so well!! Your work is planned so perfectly. I bet you have even started shooting your next series!! Big fan! :)
I'm kennel staff at my animal shelter and recently adopted a little 20 pound terrier dog we got in from China, assumingly from the meat markets. she's totally untrained so this series came out at the perfect time. also thank you so much for choosing a bully breed, this will absolutely spread awareness!

Brachycepha and it would be very rare to find a American pit bull terrier with this condition. The APBT is supposed to have a Scissor bite. And not a over bite or under bite or a flattened face. As a functioning working dog any of these conditions would decrease the dog's ability to work. I'm not saying that it isn't possible for this condition to Occur with the APBT although if it does it's a rare condition for this breed. More commonly seen in pugs French bulldogs
English bulldogs Boxers just to name a few.

I’ve been watching you for a year now- and this is the first video in which I got emotional. Seeing how much you clearly love him already will certainly make a difference in peoples’ misperception of pit-bulls. They are such an amazing breed- and George clearly has worked his way into your heart.
I love that you did this series. You should do more of them:
1. its means these dogs that may never be adopted for whatever reason get trained so they can go to a good home.
2. It shows how to deal with issues that may come up with adopted dogs
3. It brings awareness to shelters
4. It shows how to deal with different issues that may come up with your dog
Please please please do more of these.
I’m SOOOOOO EXCITED for this series I rescued a Great Dane/lab from a shelter and I have similar issues especially with the strength and not releasing
We've had many Great Dane/Lab mixes come through rescue. I always found the a bit more challenging the pure-bred Danes (simply because Labs are so much more active and energetic than Danes--I like the couch potatoes, please!). On the other hand, I always found they were really, really smart (the Lab!) and easily trained IF you get them appropriately exercised (which is much more than required by a pure-bred Dane). Bless you for getting this dog out of the shelter and best of luck with training!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! George is a MIRROR IMAGE of our Pitbull Lucy who was a rescue. Their issues are IDENTICAL with the exception that our Lucy was abused as a puppy so she has a few triggers that cause anxiety. She is such a sweet girl! I've had dogs before, but am learning SO much with George! Thank you again, this is an EXCELLENT series & I'm sure their are many others benefitting from it!
I'm so happy your doing this series! We took in a dumped pity mix towards at the beginning of the pandemic. And we are still struggling everyday. Luna has more problems than George because she started from a place of being terrified of humans and human hands.
It’s a journey, friend. Please don’t ever give up. celebrate every win, every day. Every time I feel like there’s no way out of it, I give myself to research and you do find a way. No dog to be left behind, there’s always a solution. Some days I cry to see my baby so terrified, some days I see her light up with every new game she learns that builds her optimism… it surely builds mine, too. A vet behaviorist I trust once said ‘we don’t get the dogs we want, we get the dogs we need.’
