Sweet! Can you make a comparison video and set them both to manual and see how much darker the X3 is than the X4 please? These look the same but I think it's just because the X3 has a lower shutter speed so really it's worse in more action videos than the X4.
So for me the X4 in combination with the Ace Pro and my iPhone 15 Pro Max will be an ample upgrade in versatility, weight and packability. Nice!
it is nice to see that it has improved on low light, thought it looks almost artificial on the x4. I often think night views should be closer to what you actually see versus pulling in all the ambient light to brighten the shot,poteniall generaitng noise and loosing the look of a night shot. it does have an advantage in the quality and saturation are higher. I think low light work still needs work to get the right balance with your subject. Also the small sensor size is still the main area where it could use improvement.

Great video keep up the good work X4 is definitely and upgrade in image quality over the X3 but I be surprised with the footage I get when I’m riding my motorcycle at night using the X3…

Nice! Do you think biking, motorcycling or car driving in low light would produce acceptable results? I love biking at night in the city or out in the forest but I have a feeling that the x4 would struggle in these situations. Would be interesting to compare it to the Ace Pro
It really depends on the ambient light - so in the city maybe yes

I did hear you say that Standard color was used on all shots.
And because at one comparison you said the X3 was obviously using a slower shutter speed than the X4, I assume you were implying that they were both using Auto Shutter or Auto All vs manual shutter.
I was wanting to know sharpness level (low, medium, high), shutter mode (fixed, auto), ISO mode (fixed, range, auto), WB, EV (when available)
I am having trouble getting my X4 to look as good as yours (and all online reviewers), my RS One 1-inch is MUCH better all around than my X4, so it must be a setting issue.
It would be nice to see those settings squeezed in (or as a chapter title [that would be clever]).
The many settings to include:
100% Auto (and the setting still in play such as Sharpness, EV, color and WB?)
100% Manual (and what each setting is [Sharpness, Shutter, ISO, WB, color,]) ... [you can skip the new view mode, I have tested all and found that when they are set for 360 vids, nothing really changes {checked/confirmed in Divinci Resolve}]
Manual w Shutter on Auto ... etc.

Hi - for these shots I used a sharpness of medium - everything else was set to auto - and then exported in 4K ProRes
Can't say I would jump to an X4 for seeing this, but is there something better for low light that still shoots 360? Thanks

Its a little improvement in low light vs the X3. However the noise is still visible and unfortunate the new X4 does not have a so called pure video low light performance as the Ace Pro. So should we upgrade from the X3 to X4....depends on the use case. For low light or indoors better to wait for an update on the X4 or future models
so are you saying fast shutter speed but slow fps?
If shutter speed is fast then why does FPS need to be slow.. such as shutter speed 1/60 then why need 30 FPS? might as well do 60 fps?
Ya, I chose the osmo pocket 3 for low-light.. it's way better. But insta360 can be used in so many different ways... Why not have both!?

Insta 360 Needs to make a Go Pro Labs Type Firmware for their Insta360 Cameras so we can for example lock the shutter speed and adjust the shutter angle....Now maybe test the X4 vs Ace Pro Low Light...
was the x4 at its new high iso of 6400 at 5.7k or matched to 3200 of the x3?
didn't change the standard settings - so, yes 6400max vs 3200max

Better but not much. They hog (making)🥲🥲 the bigger sensor for the next X5. It will be much improve with 1/1.3" sensors.
If 5.7k looks better in LL than 8K - then why don't you show a single comparison shot?
IMO x4 in very usable in low light (I mean compare to rest action cams) :)

I would say 2.7K
Not upscaled. It is 4k on each side, but that’s the entire side, so it’s under 4k. I think it’s higher than 2k, closer to 3k.

I had been on the fence about getting an X3. The X4 added enough increases to get me to finally get that companion camera I've been wanting for my 1-inch. The X4 looks like a great travel camera. But the 1-inch will still be my primary camera, especially in low light.

why is 8K and 5.7+ worse for low light?
Has to do with the encoding process.
There isn’t much difference. The 8K is the real advantage over the x3

You’re just trolling here if you’re calling insta360 cameras “junk.” The DJI Pocket 3 has its place, but it definitely is not an action camera and is significantly more fragile. Plan on taking the Pocket 3 scuba diving? I think not…
