That's because they weren't afraid of war.
@@mrpoliceemsfire1 bull. they did what they had to do. had nothing to do fear or confidence. ever heard of a draft?
Instructions unclear: stuck in Nazi camp
Dulfinz lucky you, I followed the instructions and got my dick stuck in a microwave
lol
you think you're funny? using an overly raped used joke... so fucking cringe
REDemomaNick just like your grammar
so my grammar is overly used???
They need to make films of these types of heroes. Not the marvel ones.
its unfortunate but the marvel ones make 10x more money
@@Alex-ky8bw They make movies like these. But a lot of real life heroes don't want movies being made about them. And most of them would need to stray from some of the realism to give the movie a cinematic feel. Hence why so many directors are moving over to making movies for subscription services. They care less about how much money it will make, and more on getting to slap their production company name on it.
Facts
hater. we can have both. how dare you
Oh they have,
In my dreams ;v;

Really interesting video. But as a german speaker it's wierd how they talk "german".
MediaStudio88 it's an American channel with American actors. They're going to have an accent
SophiaLB its not only the accent. its almost gibberish.
i honestly thought they were talking in greek because it sounded really different and i couldn't understand a single word and i usually understand some german words.
Think they are not able to speak Greek or German, but close enough.
true as a german living in germany i only understood 2 or 3 words. And with great difficulty
I want to see this as a movie
Its gonna be named "Lie for a Life
Shawn Spencer but without the B-29’s lol
It should be lie or die

"The Greeks do not fight like Heroes. The Heroes fight like Greeks." -Winston Churchill 1943.
"If it was not for the delay of operation Barbarossa by three weeks by the Greeks the front line's position would of been questionable" -Joseph Stalin
"I am sorry because I am getting old and I shall not live long to thank the Greek People, whose resistance decided WW II." - Joseph Stalin
It is in this man's blood to be a great fighter and person! If it wasn't for the Germans Greece was pushing into Albania(Occupied by Italy) ITSELF(with the exception of the 1st British expeditionary force and a small contingent of ANZAC forces under the command of Archibald Wavell, 1st Earl Wavell
Former Viceroy of India and one squadron of the RAF
This only failed because of German support and Hitler was disgraced at Benito Mussolini's failure to capture such a "puny nation".
We fought with nothing but rifles and our knowledge of the land. We pushed the Italians back.
No tanks or planes to speak of.
Cop that one on the chin Hitler!
bullshit
history ain't bullshit. This segment is from Wikepedia
The Italian army invaded Greece on 28 October, before the Italian ultimatum had expired. The invasion was a disaster, the 140,000 troops of the Italian Army in Albania encountering an entrenched and determined enemy. The Italians had to contend with the mountainous terrain on the Albanian-Greek border and unexpectedly tenacious resistance by the Greek Army. By mid-November, the Greeks had stopped the Italian invasion just inside Greek territory. After completing their mobilization, the Greeks counter-attacked with the bulk of their army and pushed the Italians back into Albania - an advance which culminated in the Capture of Klisura Pass in January 1941, a few dozen kilometers inside the Albanian border. The defeat of the Italian invasion and the Greek counter-offensive of 1940 have been called the "first Axis setback of the entire war" by Mark Mazower, the Greeks "surprising everyone with the tenacity of their resistance". The front stabilized in February 1941, by which time the Italians had reinforced the Albanian front to 28 divisions against the Greeks' 14 divisions (though Greek divisions were larger). In March, the Italians conducted the unsuccessful Spring Offensive. At this point, losses were mutually costly.
Have i proved my point?
Italians and their pizza cutters and pasta making tanks where a joke
it'sMe TheHerpes No is it not these are real statements, Stalin’s ones were on the Moscow Radio
Lol Churchill said it to pander to the greeks. Greece is a nation that is unimportant and overlooked, the only thing that they had going for them is that Italy and Bulgaria wanted a piece of them and that they have Crete
what a badass
B-29s were only used in the pacific theater.
Max W I was thinking the same I could understand if this was coming from a smaller channel but really a multi billion dollar historical company gets common knowledge wrong 😂
Time constraints, going over budget could be why they used that model
it was probably the b25's, unless the planes were sent from a British base in Africa, then they would likely be wellingtons or blenheims
HAZARATI Britain also used the b25 but called it the boston bomber
Josef Stalin I was playing agar with my friend and as I finished naming myself Joseph Stalin you replied to this. Fucking perfect timing.
0:55 shows how the smallest flaw can have drastic consequences.
The real lesson here is that the OSS management team apparently did not provide him with the correct kit.
well makes sense since uncle sam was on a budget back then.
ARC-77 Fordo - You forgot to add the all-important */s* after your replying post. ;)
can you elaborate
"elaborate", on what point or part?
Why is this recommended 4 years later
IM LOST because history is always good to know
B 29s, realy smisthonian, youre better than that...
Devin Graves that confused me too
flying at like 1000 feet in the air too
It would most likely of been a british bomber.
No they are not xD
Ethan Thomson グミ b24 *cough cough*
It’s amazing to finally hear something about the nazis in Greece, my Greek family escaped in the 40’s and my whole life I’ve always heard about the war but no one ever really put the spotlight on it, it’s dope to see this
This has to be one of my favorite stories I’ve heard in a while. I gotta learn more about this
youtube: How to Lie for Your Life
wife: uh ah not so fast honey
That boming run my grandfather told me about he didnt live in thessaloniki but we live in a hilli area that overlooks the entire valey which that meant he saw the bombing run
that was the worst german I ever heard...
Marburg3 the dub is better
As a german myself I did not understand a single word the actors were saying :D
@Classic they had one job
As a Greek, I didn't understand the Greek either.
As a brazilian, i didn't understand absolutely nothing
Blimey, that old boy had me on the edge of my seat!
Now when you next look at an elderly person just bear in mind the kind of brave actions they may have undertook for your freedom from fascism
Fascism isnt that bad ...
Name one fascist, communist, Marxist etc. country that didn't collapse and didn't execute/starve millions of people. Ill wait.
The Great Caseyk well I suppose China, Cuba, Vietnam & Laos are still going but they've all had their issues along the way so yep good point you make.
China unlike the others has potential to get with the western program and become incredibly wealthy like everyone else we let in the capitalist club. It's the only country with an ex-commie regime I would visit.
The Great Caseyk yea. There's a good channel about China called The Food Ranger. Mainly its about the food of China but he goes to rural places and tries the local dishes. Its pretty interesting imo
RIP Helias Doundoulakis. 1923 - 2016
Μπράβο Ηλία . 'Αξιος !
i'd be able to die happy knowing i'd lived a life like that
What an amazing story, he is a true hero. I know I could never be as brave as him.
Why is there B29s for this, The Brits used Lancasters
Issac Smith he was an American spy
the B29s were only used in the Pacific in 1945
Because it is expensive to make a whole new model so why not use one you already have
if I could come up with an explanation possibly Washingtons or Lazy production (this is 7 months late XD)
Quienbotin but britain was by far the largest allied power in the Mediterranean front.
really good & courageous
that was sick ass fuck I wanna here more stories from him.. but sadly we will never know
These stories need to be longer like they keep you wanting more
Nice job!
I like him and his story telling. Seems like a really nice guy
Wow that is a fucking amazing story to have.
At 3:02, great to see those B-29s made it to Greece OK. Refueled in Russia did they...;)
Mercie ....

RIP your spy days will be missed
Where's the rest of the doc please?? don't leave me hanging.
Anyone know where to watch this entire documentary, watched it a long time ago but I can’t find it anywhere now
Just put the whole documentary
Why are there B-29's.
I find it hilarious that it is easy to do or say something if we weren't part of it (pertaining to some comments below about being a spy). Anyway, this guy really did a number on the German forces. Salute for this guy
R.I.P. 1923-2016
love from Lebanon
I think the B-29s part was inaccurate, B-29s served in the Pacific theater and not in the European theater, only B-17s and B-24s served in Europe
Right. You would think that the Smithsonian Channel would know that stuff. Also, the B-25s were in Doundoulakis' book "Trained to be an OSS Spy."
This guy was a legend
massive killstreak. he is almost done with the research of his bias tank congratz
My grandfather (aunt's husband's father) had to do the same thing when he was just a kid (15) living in Italian occupied Greece. Occupying Italian troops decided to "pick on him" so-to-say, and in order to avoid any sort of suffering caused by the troops, he jumped from his window with (I think) his sister.
He should have one a medal or something. This man is a hero.
The German was......very.....very.....*cough* interesting *cough* bad
The real James bond wasn't British...he was Greek-American
That was intense
That escape tho
Definition of finesse lord
Here's your pills, report what you can.
RESPECT
RIP. True hero
what was the music played when they were bombing?
That's some scary stuff
Lmao he got his friend's lover killed.
I want a movie made about this guy!
God Bless you! 🇺🇸
