A viewer suggested I try Scotch-Brite Advanced Extreme Scrub Scour Pads for cleaning my Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker grates. Does it work better than my usual process of oven cleaner + a standard green scour pad? In this video I offer my subjective evaluation of this Scotch-Brite product.

Congrats to you for keeping a clean grate. I just can’t bring myself to spend much time on it. I usually just give them a quick scrub me when I’m done.

Hey Chris, in case you want to try something neat, I really love chainmail scrubbers (like The Ringer), particularly for cleaning all the burnt on gunk from my Weber Traveler cast iron grates. Chainmail scrubbers are indestructible and quickly wash clean as new with just a small bit of dawn. All of the other scrubbers I have tried usually clog up after just 2-3 uses on dirty grates, and then you have to throw them out. You’ll still need a sponge to get the grates sparkling, but chainmail is a great way to quickly cut through all the gunk that’s baked on.

If the grate were very nasty, add a bit of degreaser as well as Dawn.

The smoke stain is harder to scrub out but it can.

Where did you purchase the stainless steel grate from? Hunsaker recently makes top and bottom grates for the 18.5" and 22.5" WSM.

One of my forum members named David Somerville was selling them on Amazon a few years back but not anymore.

Killa Grilla was another awesome manufacturer, but he recently retired. 😢@@TheVirtualWeberBullet
