I'm glad you did this test. I just did a similar thing yesterday with a scotch brite pad. I cut a circle and put it on the drill and tried it out. I also used a points cover for my test run. It worked ok but it has a hard time cutting through that clear coat. I am going to be getting some of the Pryme pads.
I'm sorry I don't get it. Polishing is a time consuming task in a restoration. Efficiency or looking for the best way makes sense. I don't want to spend hours polishing.
@alannakennedy5273 I find it enjoyable. Getting the old clear coat off is the frustrating part for me. That’s why I’ve been experimenting with different means of expediting that process. This is by far the fastest .
Try to sandwich the red pad between the Scotch Brite see what kind of finish it leaves
Not sure it’d make a difference. Still gonna need to polish through the wheels.
The Pryme pads remind me of floor buffer pads

Surprised how well they held up actually. It was fun to test out the difference.
If you just have a small job scoth pads would get you through. Good to know.
