    EDIT: No hate to the creator, these kind of things happen and it is fun to try different ways to translate text, although I have left down the literal translations.
    Hello I speak Japanese and most of these translations are incorrect in literal sense. I will translate them,
    命降ろしだ: drop your life (it is not "Seven souls strike as one") also wrong kanji
    回復: recover (it is not restore)
    食らえ: "eat this!" or "eat it!" (it is not "try this")
    容赦なし: "no forgiveness" or literally "there will be no pardon" (it is not "you are trapped here with me")
    食らえ: "eat this!" or "eat it!" (it is not "stay still")
    弓隊: archer regiment! (it is not "archers, at them")
    狙え放て: take aim, release! (it is not "take aim, and fire" )
    矢を放て: release your arrows! (it is not "fire at them")
    撃て撃て: shoot, shoot! (it is not "fire them all")
    矢を: your arrows! (it is not "volley")
    こっちだ: kanji written says 此方此方 which is not true, not what it says and its unnecessary kanji usage
    あっちあっち: "that way, that way!" (it is not "this way, this way) kanji says 彼方彼方 which is unnecessary kanji usage but its okay
    ダメだ: "not possible" generally used to convey denial or refusal. Also kanji says ダメ出 which is wrong.
    クソ: sh*t! (it is not "idiot")
    Thank you.

    Kyoshin - whispers and speaks like he’s swallowed sand and gravel
    Sohei - COUNTS 1-7 LOUDLY AND PROCLAIMS HIMSELF TO THE WORLD!!!
    Moral of the story is, I wanna see these two interact!

    0:20 "Kurae" I think it's better translated to "Take this! / Eat this!".
    1:14 I thought "Kuso" means "sh*t", like, when something goes wrong (like in the video, with Sohei causing September 11 in this emote), in japanese, people say "kuso".

      I thought it was "名誉の死だ" originally as well, even after checking multiple different JP For Honor streams of people repeating it, but I got convinced by a different native Japanese speaker that it came out as "命卸しだ".
      Regardless, it's hard to tell because the voice actor does a less than good job with his enunciation, but I believe both can work depending on your desired outcome.

    Will you be doing translations for the other Heros?

    • @MommaAnarchy
      @MommaAnarchy  Місяць тому

      Part of me wants to do a pass-over for all of the Japanese speaking heroes, because a lot of their lines are a little too literal for my taste like "尋常に勝負" having the official translation as just "Let's have an honorable showdown!"(which doesn't even make sense to say in the middle of an attack? you're already in the middle of the fight??? I think I can definitely do something that makes more sense in English whenever I give it more thought)
      But it's just a matter of how much time I can make for it between streaming and getting another job, so we'll see. I don't really wanna make my niche being that one chick who just translates the Japanese characters lines either lmao

      @MommaAnarchy
      Localisation when translating is not a problem, as long as it's not exaggerated. It looks to me that you are exaggerating it, by trying to make it sound more "Cool" or "Sensible" rather than Accurate.
      So what if Kensei is saying "Let's have an honorable showdown" right in the middle of an attack in the middle of the fight? It's what he actually really says, so it's best to translate it as it is.
      However, it's true that sometimes, accurate translations are incoherent. Sometimes, words that are spoken in L1 make sense to the natives, however, when translated to L2, they become a combination of words that don't work together.. In such cases, localisation works best, but otherwise, there is very little need to localise.
      If you try to localise everything, or translate in a way that makes things sounds "Cooler" or "Better", then you are NOT translating.. You're changing the script, message, and the idea or soul or personality of the character whose quote you are translating.
      No hate at all towards you and no attacks. Just an advice as a translator myself.

    • @MommaAnarchy
      @MommaAnarchy  Місяць тому

      @@Derakon_ I don't know how to tell you this; but literally every translation I've made here is literal in how the meaning(as in intent & meaning of the phrase, not
      definition -> definition because that's not how translation works) gets translated, while making them sound more natural to American English speakers lol.
      I think the only one I could accept *any* criticism on not being super literal is what I did for "容赦なし", but the intent still stays the same because it's a reference to a
      character being openly intimidating without any form of mercy(like seriously the line originally got used for throwing boiling oil onto someones face Imao), and
      completely fearless of anyone around him. using deverbalization helps a *ton* in translation and lets you do things like this without losing anything in translation.
      like, you're kind of preaching to the choir here while going "no attacks" yet also going "you're exaggerating your translations and changing the idea of them entirely",
      which, I'm just not if you spend awhile looking at the intent behind everything here for more than 15 minutes like other *native* japanese speakers have in a thread above ua-cam.com/video/WG--D6Etyu4/v-deo.html&lc=UgyvzhjRWn84fa8AW0J4AaABAg.A6QwbZVjnqDA6Ru9q-0UkK

      I assure you that nothing of what I said to you was in any way, shape or form, an attack or hate, no matter how much it looked as such.
      Not all negative remarks indicate an attack or hatred.. Sometimes it's just a mere observation followed by a friendly conversation.
      If I'm wrong in said conversation, you can correct me, and if you're wrong, I can correct you, without either of us doing it out of malice towards the other.
      We can also disagree without being enemies.
