A couple of things that I forgot to add. 1. PARRY CANCELS: By pressing r1 you only get 1 input to get a grab, once you waste that input you either stun your opponent and they can no longer be grabbed since they're in a stun animation or you're recovering yourself and pressing r1 again would just do a 2nd r1 that can't get grabs. The way parry cancel works is that after you parry you're stuck recovering from the parry animation and can't do a regular r1, but you can cancel the recovery animation if someone gives their back to you. So doing a parry gives you multiple inputs to get a grab, you can spam r1 and if someone gives you a grab box the r1 will go through and cancel the parry recovery transitioning into a grab. Parry cancels are good for multiple things: *While parrying you have active hyperarmor against small weapons, that lets you tank an r1 while going for a grab *You can do setups while waiting for someone to recover out of stun, you parry behind their back and the instant they do any input that cancels their stun animation you get a grab on them by mashing r1 during the parry. *Parrying lets you do an easy 180 pivot so it's good for ppl that always fuckup their movement ig *If you mess up the bs attempt and could potentially hit a parry loool This is a good example of how using parries for hyper armor looks like ua-cam.com/video/Oity7JRMfAE/v-deo.htmlsi=WTFUpuTt_KZBf6Ra&t=110 Another good example of how parry cancelling gives you multiple attempts to get a grab ua-cam.com/video/mgeh2No6ETA/v-deo.htmlsi=WikIHhvpk-SfEo4g&t=455 2. You want to always keep your momentum fast. Hold sprint after doing any action, that way when you start moving you sprint at full speed instantly, but if you press sprint out of neutral you will have to accelerate towards full speed first. Also if you hold sprint after a crit animation, your character is going to get desynced for a moment, which looks like a skip on your opponent's end, making it more difficult to react to your movement, it's very useful if you're chaining backstabs against gankers or people who are standing close to you during your crit animation. ua-cam.com/video/7w4q4PiDyuw/v-deo.html
All this time i thought it was one of those famous videos that the whole community have watched but no one talks about due to how know it is, you know? I was suprised to see how recent it actually is and even more suprised at how "unknown" the video is too.
Its a fun one for sure. It is mentioned here that stance is pressed first, however on the types of stance that are tighter to rev roll out of I have found it more consistent to actually queue the roll before pressing stance. I feel katana, rapier and ss rev rolls work better this way and have been a lot more consistent in my experience. It's actually showed being done that way with the ss stance rev rolls in the vid when the input viewer is on the screen, didn't notice at first.
it's a really old discovery. I'm surprised you haven't seen it, but tbf it is quite difficult, so not a lot of people do it. It's so fast tho that it can potentially allow you to reverse roll on reaction to an attack
Super super sick video. This is probably the definitive guide for "advanced fishing" techniques beyond basic pivots and roll backstabs. Very well done.
Great video explanation on all this! What I would give for backstabs to be the same in elden ring…. yeah maybe i am and always will be a ds3 fanboy but i think it was just objectively better. I miss this game so much.
Very good and coherent guide. When I first started playing this game, I never invaded, and it did mean that I was outplayed whenever I was alone. It wasn't until I got bored and decided to try invading, that I got hooked onto spacing and taking risks. Still not at consistent backstabs and spacing yet, but it is a thousand times more fun than ganking and blending. And it keeps getting more fun as I get better. There's so much meat to this video.
To think I was being nostalgic of those times where I was just starting and I was finding all of those resources online like Project Goof's videos, and I thought those times were gone, that no one would ever bother anymore. Amazing job, Sebbo. Thank you and happy new year.
I really like invasions and fishing. What killed the game for me is that I only get high latency (absurd amounts) invasions. I live in Latam, there are only a few people playing here.
Rapier grab is “bugged” because FromSoft accidentally enabled a flag that marks the poke Hitbox as a backstab attempt. Fixing this is literally just changing a 1 to a 0.
@@Funsline This also implies that rapier is the only case where weapon lenght matters. The grabbing hitboxes are the first one that spawns (as all other weapons) and the hitbox on the rapier itself. All other weapon class don't have this so weapon lenght is irrelevant
I found it a while ago, Ringed Knight Helmet, Clandestine Coast, Sellsword Galunets and the Loincloth at Ringed City, i searched for just 2 days after this comment. But also thank you :)
I haven't seen anyone make a video about how to be fast in the menu, I don't know if it's faster on PC than on joystick, but I'd be interested to know how they do it. =) good videos!!
It's just muscle memory, you start off slow until you get comfortable with the inputs and then you slowly increase the speed, if you start to mess up the inputs you do it slow again until you're comfortable and then you try to up the speed again. If you want to practice parry swaps you could do it on these enemies (the higher the latency the more time you have to swap, low latency is the hardest) Lothric Knights (really high latency, like 350-400) Silver Knights (around 200-300) Drakeblood (0 latency, if you can land a swap against drakeblood you'll be able to do it against any player) The Granny in ringed city (negative latency, very hard, only if you want to improve your speed)

oh wait the bkga r2 wakeup is fake btw. Usually people panic roll it, but the first hit almost always whiffs because the opponent's hitbox is too low. I mean sure it still works on most people, but anyone who knows it's fake can just reaction roll
Do you know if there is a way to play with hack, to practice with a friend, without taking life, stamina, or anything similar? And if so, how do I include another person in that way? Thanks again, your videos are spectacular!
I'm on console, I now that it's impossible on console; but I have a pc from my friend, we want to practice, but we don't know with what thing or hack, do that on pc. It would be awesome for practice, and practice joining the pc and the console, but is impossible too I supose. Now are you playing Elden? or still on DS sometimes?@@Funsline
@@javierdomenichini4348 I don't play elden ring, occasionally I play ds3 still. On console I could suggest just using bowglitch to refill more estus or break your weapons so that they don't do any damage, you can also infuse them with a blessed gem. Use acid surge with your friend on each other until your weapon breaks and then you both can practice by doing very little damage
