- i experience a big ouchie. The whitewater center in Charlotte has always come with the warning that the concrete is like sandpaper. Plastic and flesh alike will be ripped to shreds. After a long day of going hard lap after lap there, I pushed my luck just a bit too far.....

Bro it’s so cringe go hit a real river making this was pointless
Hey bro, I make my videos to showcase my experiences with whitewater. This was an experience that I wanted to share with people. Some people might enjoy it, some might find it pointless. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion.
@Jacob Kelly Thanks buddy! For some reason youtube had you flagged as spam so I only saw this now, but I really appreciate it! Hope to see you on the river sometime! :)
Perfect music selection! "Dude you're going to need stitches....well that's unfortunate." Harder than woodpecker lips good sir!👍👍
Haha I heard the song and just knew I needed it in the video!
In the UK we would describe your account of your kayak adventures as "warts and all" which means you tell us the good, the bad and the ugly. I really appreciate it, as it's a good insight into the realities of learning a new sport. I do however wonder if you are a little critical on yourself. Your attitude and approach is great, keep it up, but recognise how well your doing (I realise this is an old video by the way!)
Hi! Thanks for watching! I do strive to expose the reality of learning a new sport like you said! I found when I was first starting that I always felt discouraged since it looked like everyone else was doing so much better!
You are absolutely right that I tend to be pretty critical of myself. It’s something that I’m working on!
Thanks again for watching! :)
Mad max your Phantom out with spikes, that will sort the rafts out lol.
That is absolutely hilarious! hahaha too bad it’ll get me banned from the whitewater center! 😂😂😂
Jer, sorry to hear about this incident. I hope you heal sooner than expected. Take good care.
No worries! I am already healed and back on the water!
@@JerKayaks That's great to hear!
A raft can really ruin your day. I’ve been there. Get well soon!
Thank you!!
I hit my head on the comp channel and the usnwc and around 25-35 seconds with the ringing was exactly what it was like after I hit my head
Yeah we’ve seen our fair share of hits near carnage corner. Sometimes funny sometimes ugly
Nah I hit my head on big drop brother!
Wall rash is always a possibility at the parks. Better than a rock to the face though.
Agree! Just a part of the sport haha
Love the jaws type intro! Glad you are better!
Thanks! I was trying something new with the editing haha
This happens alot more than people know. Why they didn't just make there outside walls super smooth is beyond me.
Haha who knows! This is from a long time ago, I've gotten a lot better and used to those walls since! Thanks for watching!

Seeing this many people scares me... The concrete wall is rough like sandpaper, I scratched my elbow here once and the water was just full of bacteria and the wound never healed for a month. But I still want to go back, just love the rapids there...
Oh no! Yeah the walls are rough :( but it’s just so so fun there!
I just got destroyed by a raft this past weekend there. It came into my eddy out of control after M-Wave and knocked me upside down, and drove over me. I lost 1/4 of my face skin, shoulder and hands, and a few bruises from paddles stabbing me as no one knew/cared that they hit me. Even the guide laughed and never said a word as I drug my boat out dripping blood and they only have bandaids on staff FYI. I do love that place, but you need to assume all rafts have zero control. Bummed.
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that you had that experience. I’ve found that the more time I spend there the better I get at dodging rafts. Like you said, always assume they can’t see you and have no control. Get better soon!
Nice work on the carnage! Hope you paddle with you soon, Jer.
Definitely! You’ll be at WOR?
@@JerKayaks that's the plan!
Yes. Thick gloves.
I don’t like paddling with gloves tho :( maybe just for the whitewater center!
bad luck man
It happens! Thanks for watching :)
Damn Jer, that was intense.
Thanks! I really tried to make the editing convey my emotions haha!
beater
Aren't we all?
@@JerKayaks yeah lol
Beater haha 👍
Yup. We all start there and some of us never grow out of it haha 😂
oh no
It happens haha
@@JerKayaks it does indeed. i got a concussion tomahawking the other week.
Oh no! Rest up so you can get back out there!
If you can do that with a dagger anyone can do it!
Haha 😂 Thanks for watching!
Where is this place?
Charlotte, North Carolina! The whitewater center there is amazing!
Get some gloves to wear the rest of the season.
Thinking about it! I just really don’t like paddling with gloves :(
ofc it was a raft 🙄
typical
No hard feelings tho! Love rafters all the same
No offense but the whitewater park is so weak sauce
None taken. Different people like different things. I’ve found that with how dry this summer has been, the whitewater park has been a great place for me to get seat time
