Awesome video documenting your learning process! One thing that Serge was doing, especially at Sunset, was initiating the bow with a little bit of angle, i.e. setting up at an angle and moving to perpendicular as he plugged. On a very horizontal hole like that, that little bit of slice will help the bow to plug - just requires a little patience and control. I'd suggest investing time in that technique rather than resorting to the 'quick solution' of whacking the seat forward. Counter-intuitively, for a wave-hole like that, having your weight more forward won't necessarily help, especially if the boat is stuck in a stable front surf in the trough. Learning to use the feature and get on top of the pile will be more useful long-term, as Serge said. Just my two cents! Keep up the progress and let us know how you're doing - love the way the channel is developing, with this real community feel!
Thank Matthew! Yeah I tend to be a pretty impatient person when it comes to kayaking (I know not the best quality to have haha). This is something I will have to give a try next time I'm on the water. Hopefully I can bring more finesse and less bull in a china shop when I give it a go next. By the way I'm a big of yours!- Tony
Nice video! It's great to see a progression instead of folks who are already awesome at these tricks
