  • When I took off my drone in the Liwa Desert, Abu Dhabi, I saw nothing but clouds in all directions - aside from one patch of sand dunes visible from the sky.
    Sometimes photography is all about serendipity and luck. Sure, I did do some planning before this shot, but it's still almost entirely Mother Nature's doing.
    The technical details of this photo aren't very complicated. I took it with the Mavic 2 Pro drone on 5-shot burst mode. Then, I averaged the five pictures in Photoshop to reduce noise. (Even though I was at base ISO 100, there was still some noise because of the fairly small sensor size).
    I did do some minimal processing in Lightroom, but that was all it took. I find it hard to imagine better conditions than there were on this morning, and perhaps it's no surprise that it led to my favorite drone photo I've ever taken!
    (For those who asked, this flight was completely legal; we had all the proper permits with GCAA in UAE.)

      Thank you, Sean! You never know what you’ll get when you take off the drone, especially in conditions like this. Love it when it turns out this well.

    Wow. BEAUTIFUL. Damn. But that's how it goes! Sometimes nature just opens up and puts on a huge show for us when we least expect it. Has happened to me many times as a photographer =) Good job

      Thank you! Absolutely agree. It had been a couple months since I'd taken a photo I was seriously happy with, and then *this* happens and reminds me why I love photography. Only get a few chances like this, better make the most of it.

    Hello, I'm from the UAE , I just saw your video it is amazing. The fog phenomenon is actually not rare here it occurs when the temperature cools down from end of September till March or April.

      @@PhotographyLifeChannel It really is, and as matter of fact it occurred today in the morning in my way to work. The road was blacked out and nothing was visible.

    Wow! Amazing picture, congrats! BTW, as a drone pilot with some years of experience, please adjust your antennas position (3:06). They must never point at the drone, that is the worst condition for signal transmission. In fact, as you can see, the DJI GO app is exactly telling you this. Fly safe!

    Flying in liwa is not allowed! . You will be fined by the GCAA if caught

    • @PhotographyLifeChannel
      @PhotographyLifeChannel  4 роки тому

      We had all the proper permits from the GCAA, so our flights were completely legal! Nasim and Tareq are the ones who got the permits, and although I knew our flights were allowed, I didn’t know until later (after filming this video) that it was because of permits. So, my implication in the video that anyone can fly legally in Liwa is not true. But our flights specifically were 100% allowed.

      @@PhotographyLifeChannel do you got a license from gcaa or permit to fly in liwa ? Liwa is a restricted area. Check the drone hub app

    • @dailyroastai
      @dailyroastai 4 роки тому

      Also you might want to put a disclaimer the video so others don't copy what you did without a permit and get a 20k aed fine

      Doug, I was not the one who got the permits so I’d need to ask Nasim. I have that app and Liwa is in the yellow zone, which I guarantee we had a permit for. Whether that was a specific permit for Liwa or something more general, I can ask to find out (I’d guess more general because I think we could fly in any yellow zone, although the flights in this video were the only ones we had time for during the trip.)
