I collected my Mk8 last week and as I had my final drive on the way to the dealer in the Mk7 which I loved I may add, I arrived at the dealer and saw my new Race Red ST and parked my Mk7 in Frozen White next to it and I preferred the look of the Mk7, but I got into my Mk8 and within about 10 minutes I had forgotten about my Mk7. I even left some parking change in the cubby hole and went back to get it the next day and saw the Mk7 looking gorgeous as always, but I opened it up got my change, locked it and didn't look back. The only problem I have is that there are numerous paint defects where contaminants have got onto the paint and the clear coat was applied over the top so it looks like I will be returning her and getting a new one! Other than that, the LSD is amazing and I am astonished that such a piddly engine can produce the sound and torque. Roll on the Mountune remaps.
If you're going to buy one get the ST3, the panoramic sunroof lifts the whole interior with the extra light it allows in & the LSD works beautifully. I test drove one & loved it, great little car & it's a quantum leap from the Mk7 in every way.

I too wasn't convinced on the looks at first but the more I see a mk8 the more I love it. Was looking to upgrade to mk8 st line but have constantly been watching mk8 st videos including your one and I feel its worth taking the jump up 😂 I'm starting to feel the it definitely is worth upgrading to and paying more for it 👌

Peak Performance Reviews unfortunately I sold the Williams years ago and still regret it. I do have a very nice Clio 172 cup which is garaged and comes out when I want the raw hot hatch experience and it is a great old school hot hatch.

Had the Mk 7, superb machine. Wasn't sure about the Mk 8 but watched so many reviews and bought one. Great fun to drive. It has quirks that are different to the MK 7 and some of the switches are in different places but you get used to that. Acceleration is superb , espeically when needing to get past dozy drivers quickly. Mine has the performance pack and LED lighting, well worth it but the launch control? OK it's there but I really cannot see me using it and looking at reviews of people using it, I really don't want to be changing tyres every few months ;-) Good review and as as a final comment, really good fun to drive and the grip round corners WOW!!!
RugbyLeagueisbest I was the same and it’s only because of the looks and that’s all subjective anyway but it’s grown on me a lot, I still prefer the MK7 in the looks department but I’m more accustomed and brought around to the looks. As an all around car realistically it’s a better car than the MK7 but they both have a different feel which is great. Quite simply put they are two of the best hot hatches ever made imo. Just buying a ST2 mk8 specked up to nearly all ST3 trading in a little full speck ST line fiesta which I think had wrong engine it is so fast .I had all the early hot hatch cars and this little fiesta wouldn’t be embarrassed by any of them.Had some new tyres fitted last month and the lad fitting them said he didn’t like my car,I asked why he said he had a. ST focus and his mate had a ST line fiesta and he couldn’t loose him in traffic.So with all the videos I’m seeing How fast is the new Mk 8 .

The one thing I really dislike about my s1600 mk7 , is the steering feel , there’s isn’t really any , you can’t feel the road half as much as you’d want to , but other than that the handling is mega , well and that the TCS doesn’t turn “fully” off

Really interesting review and impressions,good job!.. ..we are into our second full week of our 2018 ST3 ownership..I have found nothing to dislike about the car at all and fortunately neither has my wife. Ours has the sunroof which really lightens up the rather dark interior especially in the rear, I view it as a 2+2 in reality (an old fashioned but appropriate term).The LSD is great and confidence inspiring to have..I think I am too mechanically sympathetic as the cars actual owner to bother with the launch control..the gearshift light up is cool but I find the cars' terrific torque keeps me changing up shy of the redline anyway.It is the ideal glee inducing tool to enjoy on the twisty roads here on the west coast of Norway.Stay safe!

Marc Downing sorry about that Marc, we didn’t seem to notice too much in post editing but can here it a little. We’ve had a problem with a particular mount and we’ve managed to make it better but shortening it however it still has a little we’ve noticed. We’ll shorten it again and then test, failing that new better mounts will be purchased. Hopefully didn’t ruin it too much for you and other or most parts can be of use.

Do these have a sound symposer or have they got rid of it in the Mk8? When you put your foot down it was hard to tell in the vid if the noise is exhaust or symposer. Maybe sounds like exhaust in this.
@@PeakPerformanceReviews sounds Wicked. They don't release here until late this month unless it gets pushed back again. Ford negotiate with Ford Europe on one spec and what equipment we get. They should just offer st1, 2, 3 and make to order but hey, I'm not overpaid to make these decisions lol.
It has a little kind of crackle, burble. Unlike the MK7 this sounds better without the need to do anything. If you want louder pops and bangs your need an exhaust and a tune to suit. Thanks for watching fella, your thinking of getting one?
Did this car have the Lsd performance pack fitted? In the video at 10:33 you say that it hasn't, but when replying to other comments you say it did have it? I'm asking as like you I'm a little concerned about the steering feel that other people have mentioned. They've all been driving cars with the Lsd though. You thought the steering was ok, but were you driving without the Lsd? I'm thinking that perhaps it's the Lsd that spoils the steering feel a little as I've fitted Lsd's to two fwd cars in the past and they've always helped with traction, but I've never liked the feel of them when driving normally. If I swap my Mk7.5 St for a Mk8 the steering needs to be as good!
Michael B I was actually told after the video this one did actually have the LSD, I personally don’t like the steering feel as much as I do on my MK7 but it’s not bad at all. It’s funny but most videos I have seen say the same as you described but carwow and sideways Sid said they prefer it ... personally no I prefer the MK7 but not at all bad. I’d prefer a more weighty feel but it’s not something that would put me off the car as it’s an engineering master piece for its price point. Definitely go and give one a good drive and maybe see if you can get a go in both. Hope this helps fella and thanks so much for watching. Just like 15-20bhp more or something nothing crazy but a decently noticeable figure over a 200bhp car of that weight. Goes so well and really pulls harder than the MK7 and others in its class.

Nice video!! I bought a 2018 Kia Ceed GT Line as a first car, very happy with it being sporty (looks wise, not the engine), cheap (C segment for about 19.000€), very well made and spacious. But I quickly started to want more in terms of performance and fun. After seeing more and more of this fantastic little car, do you think it is worth swapping and paying about 8.000€ more for a fully speced Fiesta ST? (costs 27.000€ here in Portugal) I'm afraid the difference in space could put me off, despite being young and having no kids. But that sound and performance for this kind of price is incredible, this is much better than a Polo GTI that is way more expensive... I would like to know your opinion :)

I somehow missed the subscribe button and have already watched a lot of your videos, but I'm not missing it now :) I believe in you, this video clearly shows your a nice guy and your genuine opinion on the car. Unfortunately I don't want to order one without at least seeing one, because I don't really like the normal Fiesta design. I think the ST looks so much better, much more aggressive, but I could be wrong, I must see it in person. I'll need to wait nearly 2 months for a test car to arrive in my country (there is none, would you believe it). I 100% think I will be convinced, it has a lot more equipment than mine, a fantastic engine and sound and the consumption should be more or less the same, from what I've seen (it's lighter than a C segment). Taxes aren't much higher too... my only concerns are if the car is too small, the styling and the stability and amount of wind noise on the motorway (I like to feel safe and my car is bigger, has higher quality materials and refinement). Thanks a lot for your answer and keep doing what you do!
Pedro Figueiredo thank you so much for the kind comment, it seems to look amazing in the Silver Fox colour they call it. Yep the fuel consumption is great too, when you want it seems to easily hit 40-45mpg and if you are careful even 50+ with its clever cylinder shut down function (yes the car can run on 2 cylinders to save even more fuel). It has faired very well in crash tests but I understand what you mean, there is something comforting about having a bigger car. Thank you so much, believe me there are so many times that fairly small channels like myself think about quitting on here when times are hard. James Browne very tempted but no, main reason why is I’ve done far too many mods to my MK7 and have some pretty awesome things coming. Make no mistake I absolutely love this car and would certainly buy it with my own money. Had I not done so much to our MK7 heck yes I would have :-)

The ST3 one of these will be on another level, there is so many differences and it’s a much better car, if you can warrant the price difference which in my opinion is not bad at all it’s on a different planet 👍👍
Oh absolutely the ST line you have with the base it has is amazing and again a superb car but honestly yes the ST will be next level for you and you’ll love it. It’s like a little race car for the road but one that’s comfortable and keeps you super safe, it really looks after you.

Hello Andrew, overall the best car is genuinely the MK8 Fiesta ST closely followed by the I30N but that’s my personal preference. If someone had a specific need and want out of a car I could easily answer something different. All 3 are amazing cars and any would be a great choice, would it be something for yourself? What are you after or needing? If you needed something bigger the i30N is the better car for sure. To work and back my wife has he own car nissan note I already have a 2018 fiesta st line x love it but need more power aso was hoping to get a st3 5 door and maybe get a roof rack and box if I go away camping as that the only time I get short of scace, been watching aome videos of the i30n including yours looks like a amazing car and more of a car for the money and more room for us but interesting that you think the mk8 is the best as I've driven the m8 st and it was amazing and. Maybe a bit better made inside to and better on fuel, I know the i30 n is in a different size class but they are similar price range think I will go for the St as I do love ford's it's always hard to change manufacturer.
There’s not much in it, the i30N performance is probably a little quicker than the MK8 FST but the FST will be better on the the fuel too. I think because the ST is so small it’s so nimble but there really isn’t much in it. Either one would be a great choice honestly, for that it would come down to which one you personally prefer. The FST is on of the greatest hot hatches ever made as is the MK7 FST however the i30n is always up there with the best. In this instance I would say if you can drive both or at least the i30N give it a go 👌👍😎 thanks for watching all my video too I really appreciate it, please stick around and subscribe as it’ll be great to have you around. 2015 ST2 MK7 i had in black for about a year was the a better looking car it looks like an angry Guppy at the front the MK7 has better looking spoiler too IMO, Now the scandal of the 1.6l Ecoboost engines going on fire was main UK news yesterday go pick up a nice MK7 do a few mods,because the price you pick up a MK7 is great for such a fun car. I like the fact they actually have done a sunroof option now as i sold mine for a convertible.
Terry C haha love that description. I’m not sure if I believe the hype that the sorry has brung as I haven’t heard of any doing that and I know a lot of the MK7 ST community. I haven’t seen a high power tuner car have a problem yet at all either with engine problems and flames engulfing anything yet. Definitely is a good opportunity to get a cracking deal on a mk7 too.
For me a used I30n is too close to the price of the new MK8 and i would have to look at that car first!and do you think there will be a i20n soon to go up against the MK8?

Hate the mk7 ST. Back end is too tall and the vertical lights look awful. This looks sleeker. Sounds better. Better interior, more kit, more torque, diff is great on performance models. Dash on mk7 is cheap and nasty.

Peak Performance Reviews it’s an in stock car with delivery miles so I didn’t get to pick colour. It’s frosted white ST2 with 18s. Just come out of an i30N which I had for 2 years. Got to drive one around millbrook proving ground, awesome cars...but ST2 is cheaper on pcp and mpg better 🤞🏻 and hopefully smiles per miles at least on a par 👍🏻

Acceleration is superb , espeically when needing to get past dozy drivers quickly. Mine has the performance pack and LED lighting, well worth it but the launch control? OK it's there but I really cannot see me using it and looking at reviews of people using it, I really don't want to be changing tyres every few months ;-)
Good review and as as a final comment, really good fun to drive and the grip round corners WOW!!!
RugbyLeagueisbest I was the same and it’s only because of the looks and that’s all subjective anyway but it’s grown on me a lot, I still prefer the MK7 in the looks department but I’m more accustomed and brought around to the looks. As an all around car realistically it’s a better car than the MK7 but they both have a different feel which is great. Quite simply put they are two of the best hot hatches ever made imo. Just buying a ST2 mk8 specked up to nearly all ST3 trading in a little full speck ST line fiesta which I think had wrong engine it is so fast .I had all the early hot hatch cars and this little fiesta wouldn’t be embarrassed by any of them.Had some new tyres fitted last month and the lad fitting them said he didn’t like my car,I asked why he said he had a. ST focus and his mate had a ST line fiesta and he couldn’t loose him in traffic.So with all the videos I’m seeing How fast is the new Mk 8 .

The one thing I really dislike about my s1600 mk7 , is the steering feel , there’s isn’t really any , you can’t feel the road half as much as you’d want to , but other than that the handling is mega , well and that the TCS doesn’t turn “fully” off

Really interesting review and impressions,good job!.. ..we are into our second full week of our 2018 ST3 ownership..I have found nothing to dislike about the car at all and fortunately neither has my wife. Ours has the sunroof which really lightens up the rather dark interior especially in the rear, I view it as a 2+2 in reality (an old fashioned but appropriate term).The LSD is great and confidence inspiring to have..I think I am too mechanically sympathetic as the cars actual owner to bother with the launch control..the gearshift light up is cool but I find the cars' terrific torque keeps me changing up shy of the redline anyway.It is the ideal glee inducing tool to enjoy on the twisty roads here on the west coast of Norway.Stay safe!

Marc Downing sorry about that Marc, we didn’t seem to notice too much in post editing but can here it a little.
We’ve had a problem with a particular mount and we’ve managed to make it better but shortening it however it still has a little we’ve noticed.
We’ll shorten it again and then test, failing that new better mounts will be purchased.
Hopefully didn’t ruin it too much for you and other or most parts can be of use.

Do these have a sound symposer or have they got rid of it in the Mk8? When you put your foot down it was hard to tell in the vid if the noise is exhaust or symposer. Maybe sounds like exhaust in this.

It has a little kind of crackle, burble. Unlike the MK7 this sounds better without the need to do anything. If you want louder pops and bangs your need an exhaust and a tune to suit.

Did this car have the Lsd performance pack fitted? In the video at 10:33 you say that it hasn't, but when replying to other comments you say it did have it? I'm asking as like you I'm a little concerned about the steering feel that other people have mentioned. They've all been driving cars with the Lsd though. You thought the steering was ok, but were you driving without the Lsd? I'm thinking that perhaps it's the Lsd that spoils the steering feel a little as I've fitted Lsd's to two fwd cars in the past and they've always helped with traction, but I've never liked the feel of them when driving normally. If I swap my Mk7.5 St for a Mk8 the steering needs to be as good!
Michael B I was actually told after the video this one did actually have the LSD, I personally don’t like the steering feel as much as I do on my MK7 but it’s not bad at all. It’s funny but most videos I have seen say the same as you described but carwow and sideways Sid said they prefer it ... personally no I prefer the MK7 but not at all bad. I’d prefer a more weighty feel but it’s not something that would put me off the car as it’s an engineering master piece for its price point.
Definitely go and give one a good drive and maybe see if you can get a go in both.

When you said it felt like more than 200hp, on a rough figure what sort of figure did it feel like?
Just like 15-20bhp more or something nothing crazy but a decently noticeable figure over a 200bhp car of that weight.
Goes so well and really pulls harder than the MK7 and others in its class.

IT’s performance blue, it looks so different in different lights but it’s sometimes hard to tell.

Nice video!! I bought a 2018 Kia Ceed GT Line as a first car, very happy with it being sporty (looks wise, not the engine), cheap (C segment for about 19.000€), very well made and spacious. But I quickly started to want more in terms of performance and fun. After seeing more and more of this fantastic little car, do you think it is worth swapping and paying about 8.000€ more for a fully speced Fiesta ST? (costs 27.000€ here in Portugal) I'm afraid the difference in space could put me off, despite being young and having no kids. But that sound and performance for this kind of price is incredible, this is much better than a Polo GTI that is way more expensive... I would like to know your opinion :)

Go and drive one it will blow you away and if you can’t just take my word as I’m 100% confident you will love it. It quite simply put one of the best cars ever made .... again. Way way better than the polo gti but just a large margin.

I somehow missed the subscribe button and have already watched a lot of your videos, but I'm not missing it now :) I believe in you, this video clearly shows your a nice guy and your genuine opinion on the car. Unfortunately I don't want to order one without at least seeing one, because I don't really like the normal Fiesta design. I think the ST looks so much better, much more aggressive, but I could be wrong, I must see it in person. I'll need to wait nearly 2 months for a test car to arrive in my country (there is none, would you believe it). I 100% think I will be convinced, it has a lot more equipment than mine, a fantastic engine and sound and the consumption should be more or less the same, from what I've seen (it's lighter than a C segment). Taxes aren't much higher too... my only concerns are if the car is too small, the styling and the stability and amount of wind noise on the motorway (I like to feel safe and my car is bigger, has higher quality materials and refinement). Thanks a lot for your answer and keep doing what you do!
Pedro Figueiredo thank you so much for the kind comment, it seems to look amazing in the Silver Fox colour they call it. Yep the fuel consumption is great too, when you want it seems to easily hit 40-45mpg and if you are careful even 50+ with its clever cylinder shut down function (yes the car can run on 2 cylinders to save even more fuel). It has faired very well in crash tests but I understand what you mean, there is something comforting about having a bigger car.

Peak Performance Reviews I’ve been offered a decent deal on one but there’s none locally to test drive & earliest for an ST2 is February & March April for ST3 in the meantime I’ve got my first MOT & major service coming up on my 65plate plus I’ve spent money on security on my current car so going to keep current car for now

The ST3 one of these will be on another level, there is so many differences and it’s a much better car, if you can warrant the price difference which in my opinion is not bad at all it’s on a different planet 👍👍

Oh absolutely the ST line you have with the base it has is amazing and again a superb car but honestly yes the ST will be next level for you and you’ll love it. It’s like a little race car for the road but one that’s comfortable and keeps you super safe, it really looks after you.
I'm thinking of getting one but now because of pandemic prices for second hand ones shoot up I still will I can't wait any longer 😂 I love sts always wanted one once my current is fixed up I'm going to sell and ask the dealer to get a 2018-2019 st currently in a zetec S so huge leap in bhp but look forward to it 🏎️💨

Hello Andrew, overall the best car is genuinely the MK8 Fiesta ST closely followed by the I30N but that’s my personal preference.
If someone had a specific need and want out of a car I could easily answer something different. All 3 are amazing cars and any would be a great choice, would it be something for yourself? What are you after or needing? If you needed something bigger the i30N is the better car for sure.

Maybe a bit better made inside to and better on fuel, I know the i30 n is in a different size class but they are similar price range think I will go for the St as I do love ford's it's always hard to change manufacturer.
There’s not much in it, the i30N performance is probably a little quicker than the MK8 FST but the FST will be better on the the fuel too. I think because the ST is so small it’s so nimble but there really isn’t much in it. Either one would be a great choice honestly, for that it would come down to which one you personally prefer. The FST is on of the greatest hot hatches ever made as is the MK7 FST however the i30n is always up there with the best.

2015 ST2 MK7 i had in black for about a year was the a better looking car it looks like an angry Guppy at the front the MK7 has better looking spoiler too IMO,
Now the scandal of the 1.6l Ecoboost engines going on fire was main UK news yesterday go pick up a nice MK7 do a few mods,because the price you pick up a MK7 is great for such a fun car.
I like the fact they actually have done a sunroof option now as i sold mine for a convertible.
Terry C haha love that description. I’m not sure if I believe the hype that the sorry has brung as I haven’t heard of any doing that and I know a lot of the MK7 ST community. I haven’t seen a high power tuner car have a problem yet at all either with engine problems and flames engulfing anything yet.
Definitely is a good opportunity to get a cracking deal on a mk7 too.
For me a used I30n is too close to the price of the new MK8 and i would have to look at that car first!and do you think there will be a i20n soon to go up against the MK8?

Big T if it’s dislike then yeah possibly as it’s a great car, if it’s for looks then I understand as it’s subjective at the end of the day. Some will like it some won’t, it’s like the new Civic Type R I’m not a fan at all of the looks but my god what a car it is.
Hate the mk7 ST. Back end is too tall and the vertical lights look awful. This looks sleeker. Sounds better. Better interior, more kit, more torque, diff is great on performance models. Dash on mk7 is cheap and nasty.

Peak Performance Reviews it’s an in stock car with delivery miles so I didn’t get to pick colour. It’s frosted white ST2 with 18s. Just come out of an i30N which I had for 2 years. Got to drive one around millbrook proving ground, awesome cars...but ST2 is cheaper on pcp and mpg better 🤞🏻 and hopefully smiles per miles at least on a par 👍🏻
