its a Senior High School in San Antonio, TX named after Winston Churchill so just about every team drill, color, honor guard is named after a British regiment
as an actual military unit they are this is a high school drill team in the US the school is winston churchill High school therefore in ode to the school's name Black watch was used
mike moad....hes just one of the best drillers to ever come out of texas...he was commander of black watch when they won nationals and the next year when they were robbed of 1st and got 2nd.
Order Go, Open Ranks Go, Dress Right Go, Ready, Go, and when calling them to attention, I'm guessing he says "Drill team, atten-hut." Like Sceptileovergrow said, the commander can basically choose what command he/she wants to call in exhibition. **Not 100% sure about that though** lol
I Strongly agree with ya man at nats this year there Squad was terrible..... two rile broken and a missed suicide toss... didnt see there platoon though.
go blackwatch i idolize all of there commanders there always the best of the best i wish so much to reach that someday. i would just love to have someone do a video of a team i was in command of like this and look back and be proud of me and my fellow drill members these videos are nothing but motivation and something for me to strive for.
this is pretty bad ass, iam trying to get a silent drill team, we already have the armed team but we would be better if we were silent, it just adds to it, but yall are pretty good, cadet ensign Davis Navy JROTC, George Washington High school NY NY
Thanks for the info. But surely there must be a reason why this drill team is named after the Black Watch specifically right? Or was it completely random?
This team used to be the best. Now francis lewis, flour bluff, mcarthur and John Jay silver eagles left them behind. I like the exhibition routine it's precise and difficult.
Im surprised they have been doing the same routine for over 10 years. The reason they are so good is because the same group of kids learn this routine together from their freshmen years to their senior years. Same exact routine... by the time they reach senior year, they better be this good. Especially since they do the same routine every year for 4 years
i find it ironic how in a lot of these black watch videos they show black watch during inspection when inspection is actually the only part of nationals they never took 1st in
I love these videos. I actually know all of these people in the videos. I was in the Scottish Guard my freshman year until i had to relocate to cali. BW was the BEST during the 94'-00' time frame. im class of 00'.The great high school glory days...I've seen the 2011 crew and they are nowhere near as precise as these guys were...we actually had to spill plenty of blood @ times in order to get the routines down as awesome as they where and have the strength to stop the spins on a pin point.
way to go Black Watch...this team along with many other San Antonio teams have consistently placed in the National finals...San Antonio seems to dominate when it comes to high school jrotc and band competitions...
well i dont wanna sound cocky but yea, i was doin triple ninjas, and double upper spools by the end of the year, i;ve got a video, but its me as a sophmore but still haha
Sad to say all the teams that were good in the old days, suck now. My school used to go to nationals every year. Now we struggle to make it to states. Dedication, discipline and, hard work no longer exist in the program.
Same here. I was the Varsity Drill Team commander of the Sky Raiders Drill Team of William H. Taft High School 08. My senior year was the last legacy that was ever left and since then, the Sky Raiders have yet to live up to what we left behind in 08.
these routines where not easy (physically exhausting when you have to do them several hours a day, day in and day out even when you're not even in school...yes we had off campus training too and with weapons-i built a replica of those rifles & it fired)..because of who was in charge (the Major), who accepted nothing less than perfection from all drill team members regardless of team affiliation. cant speak for them these days but i don't knock em because i was part of that era's JV team.

Outstanding. I was a Drill Team Commander when I was a senior in high school and thank goodness we didn't have to compete with these guys. Wow.

man...they sounded scary as hell at 5:10
Who has the vid for Black Watch this year?I still can't believe they drop from 1st to 12.
is that moad in the first squad in the beggining.

Great drill work lads , but where is your kilts ,
these guys are genetically engineered to spin and make it look simple.

Im a piper in the black watch, theres more than these guys use our name...And yes, we are absolute hard nuts.
the music makes it even more lovely lol

O__o
Squad Leaders look straight, the rest of the squad turns their head to the right. What are you talking about?
i find it ironic how in a lot of these black watch videos they show black watch during inspection when inspection is actually the only part of nationals they never took 1st in
raptordt1991 because they were usually selected to be recorded more often.
Perfect
Why you guys call yourselves the Black Watch? Do you with any affiliation with the Royal Highlanders in the British Army?

wtf is with the ending?...
haha im from johnson, Liberty guard
@bbvante25 U Think so?
the marine judge isnt as hard as he seems the army drill sgt I had last year IMO was more intense
I love my school^.^
Does anyone have a full squad and platoon run of BW from '99? I'd like to see it, all these videos online have so many edits

they arent shitty..they just arent like how they were before...they still are a great team but just not as great...
