I am not a Katy fan, so had to google her song. But as someone who has been in a relationship with an addict. It is not fun, you’re expected to keep up appearances whilst everything is falling apart. It’s lots of lies, broken promises and pain from being hurt.
His truth was also her truth, if anything she sounds fed up in her song.
There are not enough songs that actually express what it’s like dealing with someone who is an addict or the harm they cause

My thoughts as well. He does not seem totally clean and sober. Maybe not opiates, but definitely something else. Which is fine, some people do not need to quit everything to have a functioning life but I feel he is still unable to take accountability for his role in this situation which tells me he is not fully recovered.

Obviously Katy Perry is also a narcissist, but so is he. At this point, he is a vulnerable narcissist, as they call them. The relationship seemed very toxic on both sides, as he was an addict, but I think she also used him for connections to the fame and fortune he had at that time.
I remember that line and I knew about Travie's upbringing and even back then when I was in high-school I thought that shit was grimy. That's why you gotta be very careful exposing a sensitive side with women or opening up about your feelings. Unfortunately with a lot of women they fight back by throwing the most hurtful shit they know about you into your face.
And what’s even more fucked up is sometimes it is for no reason. There were times where I didn’t say or do anything wrong to a woman at all and she would still hit me with low blows.
